i'll bring you more!

Hell yeah! For the 2nd year in a row I am going to Northsides and not Midwests (due to timing). However, I still need a team. Are there two Northsiders that would like to play with a Midwestern gal?! Also, the brewery tour is an AMAZING idea!!!

Midwest is best!!

I may be looking for a third! waiting to find out the details in the next two days or so, with traveling, or i maybe looking for a second and a third. don't know yet.

Sweet! Just let me know, dude.

i need you to send a resumé, references and 45 minutes of playing footage, only 10 minutes of which can be from casual play. also, i need to contact your NAH rep, and see your past records to verify if you are indeed a a or b level player. also a copy of your passport. thank you for your interest.

PLEASE ignore Krist his jokes are terrible. I'm the other part of the team that we all might be playing on together, hello :)

Hello Nicole! We are officially a team now. I can't wait to meet you guys!

Midwest is best!!

Anyone need a third? Due to a wedding I can't make the Midwests.

Midwest invasion!

Midwest is best!!

Oh yeah!

talk shit and burn bridges

damn it you guys. I would also like to be the 1/3 of a 2/3's northside team!! (aka, you know you wanna pick me up yo)

KayRAAAAAAAAA

I need to get into this tourney. My really good friend's wedding is keeping me from the MW qualifier. Who's looking? Hit me up.

YIAA!!

Pretty sure I have a spot.

YIAA!!

nevermind. I'm looking again because of the (unwritten?) rules.

YIAA!!

The rules are now referred to above. Sorry for not including these right from the get-go! Looking forward to having you in GR!

Justin

I need somebody to be perfectly clear for me, regional affiliation is something you simply declare before the registration date? Otherwise, if it's more than just an honor system, how does NAH plan to handle claims regarding the regional affiliation of players? Do they require an electric bill, a lease, voter registration? What exactly proves to NAH that you are from where you say you are? Tell me the hoops to jump through before this becomes a shit storm, please.

to be perfectly clear on this point of regional status and competitive affiliation:

the 2013 regional qualifiers are closed competitions comprising of players who, in the majority or 2/3, reside in that region and identify with that region, at the time of registration. the only exception to this is a team of 3 that reside in different regions. 1 of the 3 would have to be from the region that the team is participating in for the tournament. for instance, 1 northside player can bring in someone from the mw and someone from the eastside as a team, but you will be playing as a northside team, and should you qualify for na's in your region, you will play as a northside member and potentially earn northside more allotments for next year.

this is an honors system sure, but it is also very apparent when a player is clearly misrepresenting him or herself by stating they are from a region that they are not truly in. it is about ethics and honesty. i do watch the registration and i do question if it's needed. so there is a form of monitoring, but i'd rather not be put into a position of calling someone out for trying to skirt the system. unfortunately the system isn't perfect [yet] and it isn't going to be perfect for everyone. there are some very small ways, within the rules, around your personal problem of attending your own qualifier, that is to pair with another 2 from another region, or 2 from different regions, and attend a different qualifier.

the good news is that the tournaments committee is going to focus on the 2014 and 2015 seasons with this type of problem in mind; individual calendar conflicts. i welcome any suggestions you may have in how to balance the tasks of finding volunteer location hosts, regional identity, progress in the competitive level of polo, and incidental calendar conflicts, to name a few points to consider when determining the aspects to the qualifying series.

Ryan. You should team up with Dave and TJ from GR. A bruiser and a playmaker + you would be pretty lethal I think!

I'm another free agent Chicago player. There's some beer in it for my teammates.

Date conflict with Midwest for me, so I'm a free agent out of Ohio if someone needs a teammate.

excuse me. 1 oclock seems a bit of an off time for time. this might make it a bit tricky for some. some people have jobs. others have school. i mean, i don't. but just sayin'. now i have to wake up early.

We're blue collar here in Grand Rapids, everybody gets a smoke break at 1PM.

Also, that seems to be the only time available on hardcourtbikepolo.org. Does anyone know how to change that?

REGISTRATION IS TODAY!! WOO HOO!!!

Sorry for the early reg. I was just trying to figure out how that site works. I will re reg at 1.

fuck off i was sleeping. thanks meg for being a doll!

I would like to put this out there right now:

"A players regional identity and competitive affiliation is ascertained by evaluating the place a player is most frequently seen playing, resides in, and/or can be confirmed by the regional and club reps as a residential player. The relevant date for a player’s regional identity is the qualifier registration date. A player’s regional identity is maintained for the entire season, regardless of subsequent relocation."

please understand that we will be checking the registration list against this statement as the rule accepted by the regional reps and the board of NAH.

I could clearly see one team bullshitting their in regional status....
Just get over it and split up and find a legal teams to join.
You guys are shooting yourselves in te foot every minute that passes believing your out of region team can compete as you currently are. Go find 2 Northsiders, or 1 northsider and 1 from not Midwest to play with.
You're running out of time.

We had explicit permission to do this before the Midwest registration deadline passed. We are already out of time in that regard and back pedaling this late in the game is not what I expected from NAH. So I'm moving to Michigan for bike polo I suppose.

Did you not read Chandel's statement? that the region you most often play in, is the one you are registered. Moving won't do any good. I also doubt NAH would give explicit permission, that's playing favorites, and other teams in similar Situations would want the same treatment, and if they were to do that, then What the fuck is the point of closing regions to begin with?

It's also past the regional qualifier date, and that says moving wont do you any good either.

It sounds like somebody in NAH spoke to soon about permitting you into NS. That sucks, but it's still not grounds for special treatment. It is a shitty thing to have happen to good people and talented poloists, but there is still time to make a good legal team, as a remedy. Forcing NAH's hand, to allow you in because somebody said so, when the closed region and structure for 2013-2014 had already been posted on the forums, should clue you in that its probably not going to happen, and that somebody who said otherwise was mistaken, and so you should figure out a new team to play on. But. I don't make the rules or part of NAH, so maybe you'll get your way. If I were you though, I would quit trying to compete with an out of region team, and find some Northsiders to play with.

I'm not asking for special treatment, I'm asking not to have some extra burden of proof regarding my affiliation that nobody else has to meet, especially considering I was upfront with NAH the whole time about my intentions.

I specifically asked what proof they needed and they didn't respond until 94 minutes after I registered.

They didn't clarify any of this until after we already registered.

If i was someone who cared and believed equal treatment is the same as fair treatment (two things i don't do) i'd really protest this. I was forced to change a lot of shit around because i wasn't allowed to play in the eastsides, where i felt we were better suited, and timing was better for us. So this wouldn't be exactly fair to players who were in similar situations. now like i said, i don't care, but i do enjoy talking shit when i get a chance.

Well here is someone from NAH telling you what the case is, and this is a week before registration, not to mention the structure was on the forums long before that. Saying that you only learned this 94 minutes after you registered is honestly, hate for the confrontation, but BS.

"this is an honors system sure, but it is also very apparent when a player is clearly misrepresenting him or herself by stating they are from a region that they are not truly in. it is about ethics and honesty. i do watch the registration and i do question if it's needed. so there is a form of monitoring, but i'd rather not be put into a position of calling someone out for trying to skirt the system. unfortunately the system isn't perfect [yet] and it isn't going to be perfect for everyone. there are some very small ways, within the rules, around your personal problem of attending your own qualifier, that is to pair with another 2 from another region, or 2 from different regions, and attend a different qualifier."

Also, as kristxw said, he/she was in a similar situation and changed to fit the rule set, despite their disappointment to do so. I would recommend following suit. Your position reminds me of the story of the ant on a log floating down a river, believing it has control over the log. I would hate to see you guys not play at all in any qualifier because you failed to act in time given the circumstances. I do feel bad that you're in the situation your in, but I think you goal is unattainable if you keep fighting against the rules, despite what promises were made. I think whoever made that promise, accidentally made the situation worse for you, giving a false sense of confidence in your stance against the closed region structure. I guess my comments on the forum aren't helping at all, and probably make it so you don't want to change your position further, so I'll stop, but I would hate to see you guys not play at all, than change your team up, and join back together for NA's. There are alot of spots left in NS, and a lot of NSs looking for good teammates. It would better than not playing at all, right?

HOUSING REQUEST FORM: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Qd3_nq1Rpped5xEmYGLsstugDevtW5GxORRlOCz...

Hey there. Anyone need a third? Hmmmm?

Also, how to I pay and register myself (as a single) for the tourny?

curtis is good pick him up

Curtis is also from Northside and can help you meet regional requirements.

I am stoked about the insane quantity of polo we are going to get to play with so many courts and so few times. None of this silly 4 game weekend stuff!

As of this weekend, there are two brand new 4' courts. We're also still planning to construct a third pickup court.

So far, we've verified that the lights stay lit until at least 1:30AM, though it's suspected they will stay on much later...

Anyone from the Kentucky area going up to this? I'm trying to find a ride just to go hangout and play pick up!

Do it, Quinny!

Midwest is best!!

QUINN'S COMING!!!!

http://northsidequalifier.weebly.com/
all the info you never needed in one kinda weird spot

For anyone curious or interested, it is confirmed that bikepolo.tv will be streaming the whole tournament. Mr. Do, zacharybloomington, and I will all be attending strictly to broadcast all weekend. If anyone is interested in assisting at any point (commentary or jockey the camera for a bit?) please feel free to join us at any point throughout the tournament.

It is quite tedious to perform 100% uptime while keeping the stream interesting with commentary, interviews, etc.

I'd be into helping out anyway i can. I'm not funny, or interesting, but i can tell the story of game of thrones so far, scene for scene while they play, or tell bad puns.
for real though i'll help how ever i can. i'm also trying to get a friend who is a video producer to come hang with us, or another non player, too.

Any word on housing? I filled out the form but did not hear from anyone. Is that a good thing?

We are finalizing hosting arrangements today and tomorrow. Pairing will be done asap!

Thanks for your patience!

I'm looking for the party people.

Rocker type here looking for a dude to party with. maybe more. interests include partying, cuddling and getting three knuckles deep in some mud.

I think people were randomly assigned. Nick, I'd love to party with you.

Solid two players from the TDot looking for third power player: We just lost our third...and he was our big, bruiser and goal scorer combined..so if anyone is up for the job...please post your polo resume here. Were in it for the fame, glory, prizes, sponsorships, adoring fans and the secret winners prize (spoiler:Trailer home!) but we're Canadian so we're sorry if anything here is offensive to anyone ever.
P.s. Sorry.

Holy shit, I'd love to play with you boys.
I'll send you more info. through email or something.

YIAA!!

Pick this guy up! He won't disappoint.
