Bench Minor 2 poll

tapsI asked 25 people to submit their top 25 picks from those registered in the draft. The numbers were crunched the same way as BCS rankings.

They were told to pick 25 players they'd want to play with on a 3 person team for a regular tournament, and rank them 1 through 25, regardless of their potential to flake out out and not show up in June in Chicago. Only rule is that they couldn't pick themselves (but any of the other 24 people polled could pick them).

On Tuesday at 10pm GMs will be picking according to their Bench Minor strategy, taking things like Rory's "50% chance i can come" into account, or a player's inability to be coached.

yup. But only the people who are being polled will ever see the "Vote" button.

OK the URL is public but i kinda hid it from the forum cause it's so f'n slow to load.

I see what you did there with the picture

Voted.

did it in twos with one odd ball in the 25th spot.

Who do I want to play with on a 3 person team for a regular tournament? I'll just say that's Z and P, then who would my next two be? next two, and so on.

which changed what was my first list

voted! can't wait to see the full results.

can't wait to see what the final results are!
will we get to see individual voting results or just the grand tally?
awesome!

probably too seriously...

just the grand tally

Voted, and my own playing style as a strong mid factored heavily on my decisions. Can't wait to see results!

OK results are in.

pick me anyway.

what do the numbers on the side mean?

http://www.bcsknowhow.com/bcs-formula

how does that translate to our poll of only 24 voters? please explain slowly I was an english major..

First choice got 153 points, 2nd choice got 152 points, etc.

I want to be the first to point out that this is not, um, "scientific" in any way.

Many of the top picks were people who didn't participate in the poll, so they were eligible for at least one extra vote (since you couldn't pick yourself), which more than makes up the difference between them and others who were ranked below them.

Sorry if this is confusing, it's not meant to be accurate, it's meant to just give a rough idea. it's probably possible to use the current numbers and control for those who didn't participate. Obviously if i do this again i'll do it differently.

Half-ass temporary solution: i'm going to vote one more time, and i'm going to vote for every participant in the poll, ranking them as close as possible to their average ranking. I need about 30 minutes to figure that out, sit tight now.

OK slightly revised results are up top, based on some rejigging i did to compensate those who couldn't vote for themselves. Basically, i added to their score the average score they received from everyone else.

You can see how i got there on this spreadsheet.

It only affected a couple of people, near the top of the ranking.

ah ok, i thought first would get 25 points since we only voted for top 25, but that makes more sense.

top 20 or so looks pretty accurate to me, if not the precise order at least all the right names are there.

Tex isn't #1. What the fuck?

can you put this thread on the main page?

it's on the homepage and at http://leagueofbikepolo.com/forum/active

i'm holding every voter responsible. you blew it.

the BCS is strangling football. dont let that happen to us

ya the rankings in BCS actually determine shit like who plays who. this poll might impact the draft a bit on Tuesday, but it has no authority over anything, thank god

for fuck's sake. i figured this would all boil down to a popularity contest by tomorrow, but this is just ridiculous. i can see myself starting to feel the same way about fellow polo players as i do about other vegans...

talk shit and burn bridges

what a negative post.

this thread was based on 25 people picking their top 25, so if you've never played with/against those 25, chances are you weren't going to make anyone's top 25. after this post, i don't think you'll be in the remaining 23 spots either, especially if any of the gms are vegan.

haha! i figured everyone would take it the way they did.

talk shit and burn bridges

You mean I'm not taking it seriously enough?

You'll see. Unless you drilled out your eyes because they were too heavy.

So let me get this straight.

Last year JOE picked kremin first, and we were all like "numberrrrrr oneeeee" and he was all like "yeah that's my jersey number". And everyone was chanting it "NUMBERRRRRR ONEEEEEEE" and Kremin kept grinning like "come on guys"

Then nearly one year later JOE gets picked number one and everyone will probably be all like "RRRRRRRRRREBMUN EEEEEENO"

It's nearly blowing my mind HOW CONVENIENT this has all turned out to be.

this is exactly why we need a bike polo video game to be developed. anyone out there???

Not that it makes much difference to me being drafted and just eyeballing those teams. I have been on teams that have beaten about 1/3 of those players with no losses, I have never played with or against about a 1/3 of those players, and the the other 1/3 have beaten my teams more than once. Tony needs to blow his own trumpet a bit more. Tony needs to spend more time on forums kissing ass. Tony's goals haven't counted for over a year. Tony challenges anybody to a joust for $$.
