i've ridden and played pickup with this bike, and it really does rule, no joke, such a fun rig.

'80s Raleigh citysport skyline - free
truvativ 4 bolt mtb cranks and chainrings - $20 used
FSA bash guard - $18 on ebay
u-brake mount - $12 at the LBS
pedals, seat, chain, handle bars, brake lever, u-brakes - free from the old polo bike (which broke at the chain stay)
extremely bent fork - free courtesy of the walls i didn't see.
stem pad - free on the side of the road
roll of duct tape -$5
one day it will be covered entirely in duct tape. after several collisions with walls the rake on the fork became less and less until it became negative and i turned it all the way around. i'll probably switch it back after it gets bent back towards its original position. the reason for the u-brakes is that the studs for the original cantilever brakes have the three holes for the springs are on the outside, rather than the inside (the way every other bicycle i've ever seen is) this made new cantilever brakes an impossibility. fascinating right? i would have made a top tube pad out of foam and duct tape but i won a yancopad at the rocky mtn bike polo open last weekend. i think its slightly better looking.
