Once again, the 5-hole is an optical illusion. ;)
Its 44" from axle to axle only a few inches more than most bikes. But yes its a wide and it sucks, sometimes.

Edit:
As of December 2009 I have changed my tires to 2.0" Big Apple in the front and a 1.75" Continental Touring Plus tire in the back.
My rear wheel is now a noname 48 hole 135mm spaced hub laced to a 26" Salsa El Gordo in a 3 cross pattern. It has a 22 tooth ACS freewheel giving it an overall ratio of 1.59 or 35x22.
My front wheel is a Sansin SE (Suntour) 40 hole high flange tandem hub laced in a 4 cross pattern.

wait is it an illusion or does it suck all those times when people drop big fat goals through that gigantic 5-hole? quite confusing us. do we need a moderator for this post in o10?

Nice choice on the rear wheel, I've got the same rim and an old BMX hub on mine.
