great!!

Hi and greetings from Nuernberg, Germany - we started Bikepolo last year in May and this year we are looking forward to play some tournaments to make connections with other clubs and poloplayers. Because the date is one week after the great summer holidays in germany - is it possible to take part only for one or two days or have we to stay the whole week?
Thank you
Jürgen

the Ideer right now is that there gonna be a lot of one day tournaments, in the week up to saturday, sunday, where you can win a spot in the "BIG TOURNAMENT" so yes you can come and play one day ore all the days :) it's gonna be open and fun, and alot of party and bikepolo!!!

Hi, thank you very much for your reply - that sounds really great - by now a weekend trip to copenhagen should be possible for some of our members - keep us updated.
Greetings
Jürgen

Copenhagen Open Bike Polo Tournament update

The prospects for the Copenhagen Open Bike Polo Tournament COPBT) are that the Copenhagen
municipality have granted us money to arrange a really great polo tournament. We are 99% sure that
we are allowed to use Israel's Plads where there will be room for 2 courts next to each other for the
duration of the event.

There will be food and beer stands on Israel’s Plads in connection with the Polo Tournament and the
other events taking place. We will of course also make sure that there is great music and a big screen
that will display the game scores and upcoming matches.

We aim to invite people for Wednesday 21st September and to be able to provide sleeping
accommodations until Monday 26 September. Sleeping accommodations will be partly paid by the
player payment and partly by the municipality of Copenhagen. We are currently working on finding
accommodations for about 200 polo players. We will also provide breakfast for the attendees of
COPBT.

Our youth department of the Danish Cyclist Federation, SygKlister, have also been granted funds
by the municipality of Copenhagen and will arrange great parties throughout the week. A new Gold
Sprint set-up and a new mobile sound system will be built for the event.

The program is not determined yet, but I can say as much as there will be a major tournament on
Saturday / Sunday 24-25 September and an award ceremony Sunday evening. On the following page
is an example of what the program might contain in the week leading up to the main tournament.

The week leading up to the main tournament might look like this:

Wednesday 21st

10.00-15.00: Player registration in the basement of Danish Bicycle Federation by Israel's Plads.
The courts open and are available for Throw-ins

15.00: Guided tour through the inner city of Copenhagen (group ride)

19.00: Barbecue party at Bryggen, Monsterlammet (mobile sound system) will provide the music

Thursday 22nd

10.00-14.00: Brunch

12.00: Bench Minor Tournament for all registered polo players

14.00: Tourist trip to see the little mermaid + boat canal tour

20.00: Bench Minor winner is announced

21.00: Alleycat start, afterparty under the bridge at Søerne

Friday 23rd

10.00-14.00: Brunch

12.00: Single Player Polo, Best Player in the Universe tournament

14.00: Tourist trip: train ride to Elsinore to visit Kronborg Castle and go down into the Casemates and
then to the art museum Louisiana to experience art

20.00: Single Player Polo winner is announced

22.00: Dubstep at Bolsjefabrikken, Zulu will be performing

Best Regards

and yes it will be awesome :)

Due to a lower amount of registered players than expected - around 30 - we've had to cut some expenses. This means that we have decided to cancel our agreement with our local community house, who was supposed to be in charge of housing everybody because we simply can't afford that expense.

There is no need to panic though, if you registered up until today - we have private housing for you - GUARANTEED (and we finde a couch for those who register now). Another plus is that registration will now be FREE OF CHARGE - you will receive a refund of your registration fee when you arrive in Copenhagen. If you're unable to attend the tournament - we will find a way to transfer your money back to you somehow.

What we need to know now, since we're putting you up in peoples homes - is how many of you are traveling together and what your itinerarys are.

So please, mail this information to jac@jnoor.dk and we'll get back to you as soon as possible with more information.

General questions should be directed to bikepolodk@gmail.com

Awesome tournament guys thanks for a great time !

so, who won the tournament?

Rik
Zaragoza Bike Polo 2015
Berlin Bike Polo 2010 - 2015
London Bike Polo 2008 - 2010

The 3 who won the final was:
Danny (Germany)
Philip (Germany)
Skjold (Denmark)

They beat in the final:
Nico (Germany) (Nico was the guy with the most points and won a new frame)
Andreas (Denmark)
Samson (Denmark)

We had made a computer shuffle system that every round made a shuffle based on there players score, so you never played with the same players, and it tried to make the games as even it could. You got 3p for winning and 1 for draw. We played 10 rounds before the 12 best, played a semifinal (again a shuffle) and the winners went to a final.

I think it was a good system, we had some problem because we had to put in some standin players, and some times they where much better than the player they where stand in for, so that team got over powered...
But it was nice to see a tourney where not so good players could play, and not always get there ass kicked. Example we had 3 young guys, if they had played a normal team tourney they had properly lost all there games and thought that polo sucked big time, now they could play together with the best players and learn a lot and have a lot of fun...

(one round to go befor semifinals)
