Yes Rik, it' totally up to people to find a place to stay during the Euros. We're sorry about that but we were really clear with this point since beginning with this situation.

The only camping aroud Paris I know is this one "http://www.campingparis.fr/" but it's kind of far from the place where we're going to play the Euros.

Jason aka. Jay-z - Grenoble (Fr) - Santiago (Cl) - Helsinki (Fi)

Concerning the place where we're going to play the Euros and the Wildcard here are some informations.

Euros as we told you, will be played at TEP Pailleron.

https://maps.google.fr/maps?q=t.e.p.+%C3%A9douard-pailleron&ie=UTF8&ll=4...

It's in a popular area in Paris, it'll be easy to find food around the court, Brasseries, bakeries, Asian Restaurants, Kebab, Mc Donalds, Grossery Stores...

We will have 3 courts, 37,5x20m a players area and a small warm up/initiation court.

.greg

Wildcard will be played at Place des invalides.

https://maps.google.fr/maps?q=Esplanade+des+Invalides,+Paris&hl=fr&ll=48...

We don't know yet, if we'll be able to have 1 or 2 courts.

We already played a tournament there with 2 courts, it was the MGM Jungle tournament in march 2011.

Close to the courts, you can find a grossery store a Domino Pizza and some bakeries.

The court size is around 30x17m.

Ok guys, teams list updated.

.greg

Can we have the ruleset?

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Next week because we'll trying it this WE at the french championship.

It'll be really close to the last NAH ruleset draft, to standardised as possible the ruleset for NA's, EUros and Worlds.

What will change :

We'll play with the NAH BJ rule, BJ allowed in defensive zone you don't have to pass then, BJ forbiden in offensive zone.

The last team who touched the ball, before it goes out of the court, loose it. (same as football)

You can't have any open hole in you mallet bigger than 57mm.

We're also thinking about a way to manage the subbing. We will choose a pool of player at the beginning of the tournament, those players will be reponsible to allow or not the choice of a by a team.

For example, if you have an injured player, in your team, you can choose a player who is not playing the tournament (because he was not registrated or because he is off), then you ask the pool of player to valid your choice of sub. The idea is you can't choose a sub better than the player injured. This is not official, we'll try this, at the French's this WE and decided if we keep it or not for the Euros.

We'll keep the non-break before golden goal as we used to do in Europe. (Same at the Worlds)

.greg

What i can say for worlds right now it that we gonna also take this rule about size of the hole, to avoid large side-cut mallets.

Isn't it a little late to try to change a ruleset, without even consulting with other European representatives (I don't know who you have contacted or not, so I might be wrong here)?

Not that any of these changes affect me, except maybe for the subbing pool, but it seems to me that all decisions regarding EURO polo are being taken in Paris/France and that makes me uneasy. Does anybody else feel this way, or am I just stirring shit for nothing.....

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Greg, Clement and Hannes have been working on the rules, I've offered my help if they need it.

I think their approach is sound: take the latest NAH rules and make minor tweaks/fill any holes.

Hopefully we'll have it in good time so people can digest it (I doubt there will be any surprises).

No Alejandro, it's not the way we worked.

We try to have a ruleset as standardised as possible for NA's, Euro's and World's.

Kev, Peete some guys in the NA offered Clement, Jono and I to take part of this conversations. I personnally did not do it, cause it was kind of complicated but I followed the evolution of the draft and I guess everybody interested in this sport should have do the same.

The only new point we have here, is the one concerning the subbing, that is why I started to ask, Hannes, Clement their point of view about that, then Jono offered me his help, so I also talk to him about this point.

We will try it this WE, so we were thinking about asking people what they think about that after having a feedback of this WE.

Concerning the hole in the mallet it has been talked on lobp and nobody said anything and it'll be a point at worlds, so because the euro be qualifiers for Worlds, why not playing with this rule.

As far as I remember, during the previous Euros, the ruleset was never decided by many scene, only by the organisers. I mean if we have a euro comitee we would just have to follow what they decided, but this comitee does not exist, so I guess as long as we won't have one it'll be the same, or maybe next year we will have this standardised ruleset.

.greg

yeah, that's cool.
You do see how late this is coming, right? Testing some "dramatic" (I'm exagerating) changes in the ruleset 3 weeks prior to the main event.

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Wich of this changes is really "dramatic" to you ? Just to know and to see what we can do ?

We played with all these rules in France since a year, so I might no realised how it will annoying for people.

I guess the one concerning the regulation of the mallet might be the most dramatic, It's true that in Paris, nobody is using any open side cut mallet, since we know it'll be regulate, so we did not see anything really important with that point.

But if you people told me that there are a lot of players still using this kind of mallet, we can see and may allow them, even if it not make real sense cause it won't be allow during worlds.

.greg

Alejandro you're right about the way that is weird that an unique scene choose almost everything for a tourney, but you know it yourself, that's the way it works right now. Same for worlds.
We try to talk toghether to put someting on soon.

In any cases, the changes are always small tweak:
-Rejoust after time is out for golden goal or not.
-Ball joint rule. Offensive rule against need a pass ( i would heard people about it too, because i don't like the NAH rule)
-Ball out of bounds

The only major change this year for me is the side cut thing. I found the way NA deal with it really intersting, you can keep holes on your mallet side, but not bigger (wider) than a business end. honnestly in padova or last tourney i went with this kind of mallet, we get 2 goals canceled for small ball joint from johan in our defensive zone, against teams who had one or all players with this kind of mallets, making easy as shit lob passes and sharp turn around nets move then shoot.

If that's a big deal because euro is in less than one month, then we should talk about it, but for worlds for me it's pretty clear we have to get rid of this mallets.

As im pretty sure this thread gonna get really quickly full of posts about rules, i created a dedicated one here:
http://leagueofbikepolo.com/forum/rules/2012/06/27/rules-for-ehbpc-and-w...

No Greg, I'm not trying to be pleased or that you change what you intend to do for me.
The tourney is coming very soon and people need to know what to expect. Any changes to the game, ruleset, format, equipment, etc should be done ASAP, at least so that everybody comes prepared for it (players and refs alike).

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Website is online.

.greg

Banana Thieves are not going to participate in the WildCard Tournament, trying to find another team from "Eastern Europe" which takes our slot.

Ok, let us know.

.greg

Does anyone need a 3rd player???

Maybe you should allow 4 player teams???

Passed It team name change: now called Passing Wind (Erin from Tornadoes sub for Beagle).

Ok.

.greg

is it possible and allowed to put a tent somewhere next to the court?

We are in the middle of a very urban area, so no it not allowed, and I might say it'll be dangerous.

.greg

Rule Set is online. => http://www.ehbpc.org/2012/rules/

Major changes :

1.2.2.1 - 1.2.2.2
2.3.3
3
4
6.2 – 6.3 – 6.10 – 6.11
7.6 – 7.7
10.2.4
12.3.7

.greg

'banlieus' or what?

Banlieue mean suburbs, Around the court, it's not one the safest area in Paris by night.

.greg

Yeah i know what they are, visited some a lot of years ago but if it was really like that you wouldnt have chosen that area..but not allowed, ok.

it´s just a few days to go and it´s ok to publish the rules this late. but if you change essential things like regulations of the mallet - it would be great to get informed a little bit before... i won´t be able to change my setup in this short time. Or would you change an essential part after a few years of playing 10 days befora an important tournamnet? So you have to give all players the chance to play with their old mallet-setup. Set this rule as a recommendation for the worlds.

I am a total outsider but they talked about how this rule was likely to be adopted weeks ago. The official an announcement was not the first time it was mentioned.

since we knew this rule is going to be used at the euros, we played the east european selection with this rule(among others, we knew were coming). that was in may, and we announced the rules for it in april. it's not a new thing.

The Bisons;

Sad news from spain, El Club and Sexy Legs are unable to attend the EHBPC this year.
So the list of teams looks like this now:

Bad news those two teams are missing by the way.

++

.greg

Ok, so two busy days for the spanish community: el club is definetly out, and now Vai Polo Rejo are also out for different reasons, but Sexy Legs have been able to fix some things and is in again (I hope it doesn't mess with the SR groups already done). Also, we have sort the wildcard spots. Sorry for the late notice. Final list (qualification order):

I can help pay petrol/highway tolls. I am also hoping to find a ride from Paris to Geneva or Karlsruhe, or any city nearby after the Euros.
Please let me know if you are able to help a polo bum out.

Could you tell me where I can leave my car since Thursday, free of charge?

Really difficult to find a place to park your car for free in Paris. You should find for a place in subburbs where it's free of charge. I'll ask the guys living in suburbs if they know a quiet street close to their place where you can parks car for free and in a safe area.

.greg

about

7.2 Wrist shots or scoop shots are not considered a “shot,” therefore will not count as a goal. This technique may be used to pass the ball.

should addedd also ' to self-pass the ball' ... it's specified in all the other roolsets

This rule is about shooting and scooping by the way, it shouldn't hbe any indication about passes or self passes, this mentions are both useless.

Shooted by Michel from "Les Fritz". Thanks to him. More coming soon.

That looks like one hell of a line up for the Worlds.
Congratulations to all those who qualified .
The Wild Card looks like it is going to be a fantastic start to the week too with 6 European countries contending off the joust. Cant wait to see all my old mates and to slay my new ones.

Thank you Andy. See you next year.

Awesome tournament, thank you Paris !!
Loved every minute - the bean bags, the epic courts, the food, the people, the wildcard.
And as always, so nice to see our big European polo family.

Great Video for sure. What was up with that call though? Did the ref just not see the player from hooks get his wheel pulled? I don't understand why that goal was allowed.
