How to Building court walls

Hey,

I'm wondering if someone has some good information to help us to built some good court walls. I check some vids like this one http://vimeo.com/16293820 where the little walls look perfect (perhaps a bit low on the side). I need to get a simple system, easily removable (for events), strong and cheap ! All in one !!
Thanks for your ideas guys.

I must say that until Tempe I was all for court walls being any old height BUT now that I've been nursing a bust rib for 5 weeks having flipped onto a low wall I'm all for 4 foot walls . One broken back is gonna be one too many. We need as many players out there as possible to make the wins look even better

"So this is how it ends"MACHINE

Here's a few photos i took at NA's in Madison (ie that video) that show the bracing for the boards.

nice work, is it home made or buildt by some pro and then shipped to the court ? in any case how much did it cost and for how many courts ?

Six courts. Built by the Madison club, constructed on site with help from tourney participants.

Johnny Hunter was the organizer and the man to talk to about specifics.

Minneapolis lent our three courts from MWBPC8 to Madison for this tourney as well. Thank you very much.

Yeah and we want them back.

great thanks for your answers so far... those walls look really great but yeah one of my interogation is how much does it cost to built a court like that ? Any idea ? NiceJohn ?

Hey. For Midwest 8 we spent roughly $450 per court. However we did use some free scrap lumber for the braces. I believe our courts where 130x65. I can’t really remember if that was the exact measurements.

i understand the bracing and higher behind the net, and angled corners.. but what keeps the boards in line (like where they join)? or are they nailed down?

If I recall correctly, NAs support beams were nailed into the surface.

we drilled fastners into the court.

Not sure what they did for NAs in Madison. But we used a ton of sand bags since we couldn't nail down to the parking lot where Midwest 8 was held. We had a hook up with the local highway department to get them.
