Bmx bars?

I'm thinking about picking up some bmx bars and a bmx stem. Hopefully this will help raise my posture up a bit without drawing me forward like my mtb stem does, giving me a bit more controll. Has anyone tried this / Have any reasons not to other that its dumb looking?

I had some old cruiser bars on my MTB for the NACCC. They were okay. biggest problem is getting them caught up on things because they are so wide, even if you chop 'em down. They do get you sitting up nice and straight though if that is what you are looking for. After the NACCC I switched out to a stem riser and chopped down flat bars. I like the new setup much better.

To clarify, I only want bars with a 3-4 rise. Now im having a hard time finding an example. Maybe they're not bmx bars after all? I'm just thinking from ones my LBS has.

I've been keeping my eyes open for something exactly like that but more swept-back. hard to find! seen anything similar?

Using cheapie ($10) 4" rise bars with very little sweep and wishing i could be a little more upright and back...

sadly, the low riser bars with a crossbar are marketed as mtb bars (even though most have a 22 clamp diameter) so very little sweep. But, I do remember seeing cruiser bars with a crossbar once or twice. The crossbar is a bit wider though.

i rock bmx handled bars in a mtb with a straightened fork, its great, alot more maneuverable, tactical barspinz.

i have an old spec. hardrock and it was pretty easy to find a 22.2 od bmx stem to fit

I got 'em to raise the position back to normal after it was lowered by the too-short forks.

Though a word of warning on running high-rise bars ... A girl up here put bars that were 5-6inch high on her track-bike only to start getting front-wheel washouts as it put her weight further back, lessening the grip on her front wheel.

or like my bars? theyre not 4 or 3 inch rise, theyre 1", but have more sweep than other risers ive had, which i like. Crossbar restricts how short i can make them, but a fistfull on either side works perfect for me. I found mine at the local bike collective Yellow Bike here in Austin and paid like $10 for em. I found 2 so far there.
