Confirm or Deny: Franklin Super High Density Reds are going extinct
At the risk of people causing some hoarding, i'm wondering if others have any info about the fate of these balls. I heard a rumour recently that they may be discontinued.

* sportsunlimited.com is sold out and one of their sales reps told me they are not expecting a new shipment October 29th, which he felt may imply a new model
* Franklin reps have been rude to inquiries about direct orders, sponsorship, etc, from a variety of places
* you can't buy them in Canada, supposedly because Franklin didn't buy the Canadian NHL marketing license. maybe the "new model" has no NHL logo on it?
So is this true? if so, wtf will we do? What's the next best thing?
what will we do? Play with drilled & drained super high AGS balls. They are about a buck more in cost too!
Minneapolis Bike Polo INC. has opened a wholesale account with Franklin before MWBC8. Talk to Landon ( El Toona on here ) He’s got the down low on this. I'll also ask him about it at polo tomorrow. Maybe we can buy up a ton quick.
well this is bad news. maybe they'll make a better one that doesn't get soft in the heat so I don't have to bring a cooler full of ice to the court every day
Out of curiosity, I ordered an Eightinch mallet head the other day and I threw a Franklin red on the order. Opened the box last night to find that they sent me a red wet instead. The packing list has the sku# for the regular red so I know it wasnt an order error. Still waiting to hear if it was a picking mistake or if they're just out of the old reds.

Deny. Called Franklin. Got a call right back from a rep saying she knew of no plans to discontinue the S.H.D. reds. Either this is all a big rumor or that rep is being kept completely in the dark.

Rumours have been properly denied. However, some are saying no more bulk orders, and many people are finding them hard to find. One club has a direct line from Franklin on them.
Fuck it, with everyone wearing full pads and face masks let's just start playing with croquet balls.
Yeah, I believe the confusion is due to the fact that there is no longer a 'bulk' package. We ordered a shit-ton of balls for Midwests 8 & had to open each one individually, despite the large quantity.
Diameter is 66 mm.
Witch weight should they have ?
We are a Franklin dealer- just put a restock order in this morning for 100 bulk non AGS reds- she said they are in stock (bulk red ones- not the packaged kind). Will be here this week hopefully. Our lady there also said the red packaged ones are coming back into stock in August- so obviously they are continuing with production.

Talked with Franklin- sounds like after August they should have a steady supply and hopefully not run out!

Harvey from Cambridge (UK) has sorted a supply of them (not franklins but are exact same thing). You can grab them off his ebay shop or contact him direct to sort a deal for a job lot

Yes , not liquid filled , hot weather ,high density, 66mm ,70 gram , indistinguishable from a franklin apart from not having a franklin logo obviously .
heads up found a pricey set of 3 franklin non-ags tournament grade red lot on ebay, these are rubbery as hell and unusable balls
Coincidentally I just talked with sportsunlimited.com too and was told the same information. I didn't realize others ordered their balls through them too.
