Orange Canadian hockey balls!!!

they dont get soft, they have a great weight, they stay round...

http://www.mercurymessenger.org/poloballs.html

I've been talking with D-Gel, the company that manufactures them, and they have told me that if I want to set up an online store they will sell direct to me, so I am working on this. Hopefully will have it set up soon, and then everyone will be able to order good polo balls online and have them delivered anywhere for a reasonable price. Giver me a bit more time, and I'll let you know what's happening as I get more details.

Awesome thanks man I cant wait to get them

Ifuckinglovepolo

coming soon, website pretty much set up, just waiting on price and first shipment of stock.....will post the web address as soon as it's good to go .

do you have a time frame? not trying to be pushy

I was thinking about trying to get them for Midwest's here in LEX (the 2nd weekend in Nov.) ??

Ifuckinglovepolo

Paul gave me one of the balls you gave him at the EVC, Justin and I've been playing with it every day... these things are awesome.

I'm not sure how they'll do here when it's 105 degrees, but right now at about 75 they're great.

Got the account set up with D-Gel, Website page is just about ready, just waiting for my first order to get in, and should be good to go. Just have to figure out how much shipping will be. Looks like I'll be able to sell them cheaper than I've found them anywhere else too (without pissing off D-Gel) so looks like pretty soon here. I'm not sure how fast they are with shipping out orders, but I'll keep you guys posted, and I'll have a link up for an order page very soon.

OK, I officially have stock now. My site is basically ready, just have to check on shipping charges and then I'll post a link that you can order from. I'll have it up by Monday. Will be paypal. Also I'm going to SF for the halloween tourney, so if anyone that's gonna be there wants some let me know, and I'll bring them in person and save you shipping charges. (Joker I already got you covered!!)

nice. we have a deficit of balls here.. so this will be nice.

this rules. thank you.

Right on Justin. I will be happy to order from you as our major source for these same balls is no longer carrying them (perhaps just a seasonal change of stock).

OK everyone here you go. You can order the good polo balls direct here: http://www.mercurymessenger.org/poloballs.html
The good news is I can sell them for $2 a piece and most places I've seen them sell them for $3 - $4 each. The bad news is after shipping it'll cost you around $3 a ball anyway....but hey if you catch me at a tourney I'm attending I'll bring them free of charge!!

International shipping available? shall I just PM you and work it out from there.

Ya I only figured out shipping for North America so far, but If you let me know where you want them shipped I'm sure I can figure something out.

north america includes mexico? as it should be, or is it just the us. and canada?

Ya I can send them to mexico too. Sent a few to New Zealand, so I'm sure Mexico won't be a problem.

would the shipping rate of 24.95 for 24 balls apply to mexico? and another one. we play almost all year round in hot temperature (27°c or more) whats the temperature rate for these balls?

thanks man, we might place our order, we just need to know this info.

They're good in the heat, even better than Franklin Reds when the temperature is above 25deg C.

Hotshot to Edmonton?

I go there enough, I'll deliver to you for free.

same go for rva?

come to turducken

by any means is the anthem

fixcraft.net

yes Turduckin I will grab a bunch off of you there

Ifuckinglovepolo

As much as I'd love to go to Turduckin, that's not going to happen. Aside from the fact that it's 4000km away from me, It's also my daughter's birthday that day...Only tournaments I'm planning on in the near future are: San Fran this weekend, and possible the one in Victoria that's coming up. After christmas I'll start planning out my 2011 season. Probably starting with something in Florida or somewhere warm for an early spring tourney. (not that it was warm in Pensacola last spring!! Ryan I blame you for that. )

If any of your people or packages are heading to the Midwestern Open in LEX consider sending a bunch extra so people like me can buy them. Thanks!

you didn't bring enough to the DPIII it appears...

thank you Justin!!
putting in my order now

Ifuckinglovepolo

Hey Justin I forgot to mention in email that we would love to give the balls a try in SF. No need to bring a big shipment though.

Justin,

Do you know what these are rated at temperature wise?

We broke one in Austin after playing it for a couple hours in like 65 F (~18C) weather, and I broke one last night with a hard hit while practicing with it for about two hours solo when it was about 55F (~12C).

I like the way they play in the cold, not all poppy like the Mylec, but it seems like they break at relatively warm temps.

Do they only make one temp?

This seems like a fluke. We used these a lot at NAHBPC, it was 32 degrees C every day, and they did fine, didn't hear about any breaking.

Isn't that like 85F?

I'm guessing you meant 32F / 0C i.e. colder than NO/Austin.

Anyway, hope it is a fluke... still gonna order a bunch, was just curious.

32 C / 90 F.

Hmmm... I'm confused then.... I was saying that they broke because it was "cold" (55F).

You said you played with them in 90F weather and they didn't break... which... is normal, I think.

I was just wondering why they broke at a temperature that really wasn't that cold and if anyone else used them consistently in weather that was cooler than 55 and had them hold up over time.

well we get lots of cold weather up here and I don't think we've had too many break, although I'll admit since we found that particular ball this summer most of our playing with them has been in warmer temps. I was excited about them cause they were the best warm weather balls I've found...once it gets colder out you can play with pretty much any ball....so we usually use the cheapo soft ones that are useless in summer.

"it seems like they break at relatively warm temps" had me confused.

anyway, we've been playing with both one of these and the franklin reds at temps as low as 0 C and they rarely break. the reds are scary as hell tho if you're playing goal, i think the orange ones are a tad lighter. can we get one of our upstanding community drug dealers to weigh these out? mainly out of curiosity.

At JHBPC, we use red mylec in over 35C/95F. balls became soft a little due to the heat.

Seems they make 2 different hardness balls - no temperature range mentioned.

http://www.d-gel.com/english/rondelles.htm

according to this link they sell 4 hardnesses? are you selling the 330 or 350 model? i got a couple blue balls to try. thanks.

#330 "Proball", thanks for the question.

ever try the #350?

No I haven't tryed them.

Whilst they're not advertised on this site, Harvey in the UK does a really good cold weather ball specifically for polo: http://www.bikepoloballs.co.uk/

or drop him an email - harvey@bikepoloballs.co.uk

Whats the estimated shipping time to the USA on these bad boys? We ordered some a while ago and are waiting.

I think its about 10 days....are you still waiting? I know the guy that ordered from New Zealand got his already and they were sent out at about the same time. Canada Post's tracking sucks, so it doesn't really tell me much, but if you don't see them soon let me know.

Yah, serves me right for opening my dumb mouth. There were in the mailbox when I checked this AM.

Took about 12-14 days methinks?

good to hear.

Hey Justin I wanna say thanks for letting me scoop up a bunch of those orange canadians after madison this year. Brought 'em back to nyc and have been carrying them to most tourneys, spreading the word when I can. Have not broken one yet. Sold on 'em.

oh sheet

Glad to hear it!! I'll let you know next time I'm headed to NYC for polo or messenger stuff and I can bring you more and save you the shipping!! Not sure when that will be, but I think I'm due for a NY visit!!

Thx Justin....10 days for me. We like'm alot. 40 degrees is cold for us. So we can play these year round. Very lively and do sting a bit when hit. Havent broken one yet , we'll see about the Az summer.

Not Yet....Not Yet.

We got some of these and played with one tonight. They are a little more bouncy then the reds and they definitely get up in the air more. Are they bigger? They look a little bigger me.. Also they still hurt plenty when you get hit with one. On a cold night like tonight you really can't tell much difference from one of these and a Franklin orange. Bottom line, nobody in Tulsa had any issues with how these balls played.

Sir, thanks for doing this.

West and East squash the beef
That shit 's legit as fuck!

we broke two of these last sunday in Tallahassee, but it was pretty cold that night and we also broke a few other balls.

Looking at the broken canadian ones, the insides weren't a uniform thickness at all - they have folds and lumps I'm not used to seeing in mylecs or franklins - maybe those were defects?

The one that I broke looked the same inside. Again though, those might be the defective ones.

Justin, any chance at sending some more Vancouver way? Hit me up pleeeeeeese.

Okay catfish, I'm going to move my mouth like this...

Hey man, sorry for the delay, I was away for Christmas, I'll be dropping them in the mail today.

Hey Martin, Lemme know when those balls show up! I don't imagine they'll take too long to get there, but with the holidays who knows. Just wanna make sure they get there.

These are really great balls. Okay it's winter and I don't know what they play like in the summer but for right now they're awesome. They have a distinct light and quick feel and even sound.

Hi guys, we are in France in Grenoble (in the alps) and often playing at 5° ou 10° Celcius... do you think these ball will break ?
On the D-gel site, which one could be better ?
Thanks for your help !

In my experience, these balls should only be used in warm temps.

If its above 15C/59F these balls work pretty well.

Below that and the are hard as rocks and lift off the ground too much because of that.

I completely agree. The nice thing about cold weather is that you can use shitty soft balls and they tend to harden up just right. I have been using $0.99 canadian tire balls for our sub 0 celsius play. They are rock hard and don't bounce crazy now that it is cold.

I think 18 deg C is the tipping point for these, like what Sveden said only add 3 deg C.

Out practicing yesterday with a brand new one of these @ 57F. I hit the ball three times.

Oh well. Sucks to be strong I guess.

Less social club, more polo

played with, in Rome, in an hot day...just PERFECT!
Thank you!

The result is random the performance No

Ayone tried these out in temps over 100F?

Polo at Denia Park in Denton Tx Sundays and Thursdays 5pm-Dark

They will get a little soft but not enough to be an issue, they still hit really well.

ordered some 3 weeks ago but no sign of them. tracking just says they were notified of a shipment. i know you guys were busy w/NA's. do you think it is possible you forgot to send out the order?

I was working out of town for a couple weeks before NA's, and then NA's was a bit busy, so they got sent out right after NA's. Sorry for the delay. I thought I sent you an email to let you know, but it is quite possible I missed you (had a few orders that week). You should see them very soon, if you don't have them already.

cool. thanks for the update. i think my paypal email is an old one so i prob just missed it.

We got our today. Thanks.

took delivery of ours in dallas. gave 'em try yesterday for a few games in denton (temp said 103F) and they didnt really stay firm. felt about the same as the franklin reds at that temp, maybe a little softer after a couple minutes, but i think they'll work nicely once it cools down a bit.

red mylec seems to be the hardest at high temps, but it sucks because the court surface is the exact same color as a game-worn ball.

@txgoldsprints

i know it's an old thread, but any word on a colder weather ball? broke one at about 40 F and plan to play through winter as we have a lighted, covered renegade location. i checked d-gels site, am i using the "proball"? (from merc messenger) I'd be into the next softer than whatever I have. just ordered another 6 anyway, but looking for options. thanks.

Switch to the Franklin orange for the cooler temperatures.

+1

the non-liquid filled Franklins I'm assuming? Just got a couple of D-gel's Brr Balls. maybe see how they go this wednesday, been in the 30s, seem real soft so far, not liking the blue color, seems a bit dark. got a d-gel "practice" ball too. might firm up at 20F but even softer.

yellow franklins. we've had em down to 10 degrees before.. but anything above 40F and they feel way too soft/light. (temps approximate)

When you coming down to SF? I've got a couple franklin yellows, be happy to dump 'em.

we've been trying out whacking different balls in various temperatures lately.

above 45: any manufacturer's orange ball
between 30-45: mylec yellow

franklin yellows are too squishy. period. maybe they perform well below freezing, but it rarely freezes here. mylec balls always seem to be a bit harder than their franklin counterparts, so the mylec yellow performs great during the winter time here in seattle. above 40, people here prefer either franklin oranges or the unmarked orange balls that we get from our friends in vancouver (i can't remember the hardware store where they get them).

this website talks about an interesting test to determine which ball should be played. not sure how well it translates to bike polo, though.

also, liquid filled is so 2007.

carve. smash. eat shit.

Home Hardware.

Okay catfish, I'm going to move my mouth like this...

bitch, you're 2007.

those blue D-gels worked well last nite at about 30F. no welts and none out of the park, but still lively. the dark blue wouldn't be my first choice. i'll pass the liquid info on to my retro ball carrying comrade.

joel - i'll trade you for a blue d-gel next time i'm down if you're in. thanks
