Let see if that works.

hey check this out, the official shoes,m say bye bye sportiva, we got saucony.
but for real, those wouldnt hold up to shit.
It's official? I'm putting a Saucony sticker on my mallet AND on my bike.
Whoa, official shoe of bike polo? I'm not sure I've seen anybody wearing this shoe though...

I used these when i ran track in middle school. I don't actually think they'd be so great for bike polo. But on the positive side they're vegan and not a massive corporation.
Its not "official" until they throw down free shoes at a tourny
whoa...they really *are* the official shoe of dodgeball: http://www.teamsaucony-originals.com/category/festivals/mccarren-pool/
you better believe I'll be looking into this...

Maybe we can get them to make a clipless shoe with a semi-stiff sole and that doesn't fall apart when walked in. My sidis, while awesome for riding, do not like to hold up to daily abuse, not to mention polo. Also, maybe they can make it have good traction like a normal sneaker...
Get answers Ken. We all want to know.

From their site:
"Team Saucony isn’t your typical sports team. It’s a league of true Originals. It’s a place to come together and play the sort of sports that don’t require cleats, pads or helmets. It’s less about the goals you score, and more about the hang.
This summer we’re sponsoring local offices to compete in obscure sports that don’t require too much lateral movement. Think 4-Square, kickball, shuffleboard. We’ll hook each team up with plenty of Saucony gear and document their triumphs and tribulations on our website.
We’ll also be touring the country and making appearances at local music festivals and parties to give away Saucony Originals while organizing impromptu staring contests, thumb wrestling and other competitions. You might have to set your drink down for a couple minutes, but it’s a small price to pay for the eternal glory of being good at stuff no one else really knows about.
Stay tuned!Team Saucony"
After viewing their webpage, i'm convinced that there's actually the possibility of them sponsoring bike polo.
oh p.s. did anyone see extreme ironing on their page?
I think a lot of people are getting really f'in sick of corporate sponsorship of polo. i don't care if Saucony is not as evil as Nike.
I think it's great to involve local businesses in our tournaments for making those tournaments better. and if teams want to do their own corporate sponsorship deals, that's fine, but don't pretend that you speak for all of polo, and don't be surprised if you get flack for it, especially when a bunch of us show up in the background of a Saucony ad.
/rant.
yea, kevs all anti corporate and shit, la sportiva was all up into givin us shit and he would touch it.
this is how i feel. free shit is nice, just like those red bulls at the tourny, nothin in life is free. i mean we had to put up with those damn girls constanly walking around, wanting to flirt and shit when i had games to focus on. that my friends was the hidden cost that we often times dont hear about.
the best things in life are free, but you can leave them to the birds and the bees, i want the money.
i'll take free shit from pretty much anyone, but i'm not prepared to stooge for them and create advertising value to these companies in return. that's all i'm saying. la sportiva didn't get crap from us in that way.
i know i know. and iagree that we actually get no benifit from people shit we dont need.
MKE gets money wich is nice, but there working for it, they know about the givin take. i have been into the madison small buisness giving cash and prizes.
I second that. Leave the stoogery to athletes in other sports. I'm looking forward to Los Marcos Mayhem, but I wouldn't look forward to a Red Bull Saucony Los Marcos Polo Tournament...
people in the milwaukee envoronmental consortium porobly think im nuts because i read these posts at work and ben hunters comments often make me laugh out loud in a generally quiet office.
i need a new pair of shoes
as far as the sponsorship issue goes we currently have Pabst, which is a beer we all probly are gonna drink anyway and we all aready know about so taking money, free beer, and tshirts, socks and chapstick that says pabst on it in my opinon is just then giving me back some of the many many dollars i have spent on their product. and i they are a "local company" as in being from milwaukee and all. although not sure if it is actually brewed here anymore.
Milwaukee bicycle company is producing 35 tooth chainring/bashguard awesomeness and sponsoring 2 mke teams with them and they will be for sale soon so look out for that. they also gave us two car racks for our trip to toronto which im pretty sure we are just keeping.
until reebok comes to me with a lucritive 10 million dollar deal we are talking small change sponsorships which basically get us some free crap and maybe some gas money. im taking these oppotunities and if you wanna call me a sell out , thats your right as an american( or canadian).
no dice nyc...MKE!
Jakey baby, nice transparency. no i like your deal. i think you have to work for it, but hell, some nice bike parts would be sweet. for me its mostly personal favors that i pull. i got jonny cycles to fix me up real tough like. great dane a local brewery hooks us up for the tournys and shit because of a friend who works there. naw brother, your aright.
that's awesome about the bike racks and chainrings. on the topic of Pabst, you might want to read this about their departure from MKE: Brewery's Exit Leaves a Bitter Taste
my gripe is when companies starting thinking of themselves as "semi-official sponsor of bike polo". and i'll push back when i start to see that happen. i'm not against free red bull, either, but i hate their product and their marketing.

FIXCRAFT.NET

No one seemed to be bitching in Boston when Puma was handing out those ugly fucking kicks. I say free be free. If i could get a few duckets to host a tourney where i don't lose $200 out of my pocket and still be able to give out free wheels, frames and shit i would be thrilled. Yeah it's awesome to get stuff from the real soul of the sport like St. Cago, Fixcraft, and the like, it would be hard to turn down the ability to host an event in exchange for a few pictures of some scummy dudes riding broken bikes around tennis courts. i mean Nike already does it, making them look like we, as a community, support them by giving one head some loot. There are a dozen ways this happens. We need to be able to manipulate them before they make money off the idea of us.
I'm all about free stuff, and if I can figure out a way to convince sponsors to give us money for slapping their logo on some things, even better. That May tournament cost us a cool grand to put on, and I sure wish I had had some financial backing for that. I'd rather not charge people $10 to play and $15 for shirts. We made our money back that way (just about), but I'd rather it be cheaper. For you. I also still have a stack of shirts leftover because most people understandably didn't want to fork over $15 for them, even though the design is so stellar.

I agree with this. We sold shirts at ESPI3 for $12 because we didn't think people would pay 15.
We had a lot of people pitch in $50 to front the cost of the tournament. When all was said and done, those people got $30 back (well, really $40, because they didn't have to pay at registration since they fronted money)

Has that money been distributed yet?
are those espi shirst still available for order? they would make great christmas presents!
no dice nyc...MKE!
There will eventually be a link to order online, but I haven't heard any word in a while.
yeah... i contacted dc bike polo my space to get a shirt cuz you guys ran out before i could get one. (i waited till sunday night to try and buy one) and i never heard back from you bums. you could give everyone who fronted cash an extra $.40 but what ever.
