Holdfast Straps

all the pretty colors

I will be rocking these at the Worlds this weekend. holdfastordie.com

Just got myself a pair last night from Rob in Brooklyn. Their website's a little sparse, but the straps are pretty great. I took 'em for a one-game pickup test run yesterday (there are too many people in New York for many games right now), and they're kinda great. It's gonna take a second to figure out how to get in & out of 'em quickly, but they're very adjustable and very secure. They might be perfect for polo. I look forward to figuring this out this weekend. They're apparently really great for tricks: http://prollyisnotprobably.com/

i had my eye on a pair of these as well. do you ride fixed or free?

I ride fixed, with a (crappy) brake on the front. Jarrett uses them up in Boston now, and he also rides fixed for polo.

GOD you guys are IDIOTS.

wow, i had no idea clipless was such an inferior product. why don't they just glue their feet to the pedals?

If you are into DIY, it is not necessary to buy these straps but just some Nylon and Velcro and get a few other parts. I will be trying to do this later today with my group of players so if it occurs then I will post photos of the process.

I AM INTO DIY!!! WHEN ARE YOU FREE, WE SHOULD TALK!!!

I have been using an early version(less stitching) of these straps for a few weeks now. My primary use for these is flat pedal f/w commuting. I've tried using them for polo, but did find it was too difficult to get in a out quick enough for these to be a serious advantage. Now, you may think oh, "he doesn't know how to effectively use them." Well, I do consider myself to have advanced skills with using clipples, toeclips, and flats. I've ridden power straps many years ago when I started riding trials, which is the closest thing to Holdfasts. It came down for me that I was taking my feet of the pedals for balance and then having to react quickly towards the play and not having enough time to get strapped in again. I started playing polo on a fixed with straps and cages, which was far quicker to get in and out. After half dozen games I had been riding on the opposite side of the straps and they started to fray(surprisingly more then I would expect) on the edge where it was scraping the ground. HoldFast straps are a great product, but in my opinion not for polo. If you riding Fixedmx they are a great alternative to your toeclips. If your looking to have pedal security for polo go with clipless or cages.
My 2 cents.

I use these: http://burrobags.com/shop/other/bmx_pedal_straps2
...in fact that exact pair. bought 'em to support my friends down in jacksonville's bag co.
They hold up pretty damn solid for polo...I wouldn't put them on a high ratio brakeless track bike or anything though.

32/23 fixed?! jesus, man. i would have to sit out and breath into a paper bag after the joust if i ran that setup.

btw, if you see farmer john, tell him i said "what's up?"

carve. smash. eat shit.

We've got a player who runs a 24/18 Fixed ratio. His name is John his feet spin real fast.

I like 28/18 fixed with clipless pedals, and 165mm crank arms and a front brake. works great for acceleration and net, top end is a little limited, just spin to win. i almost never pedal strike. i look funny sometimes, especially when in transit to polo. i unclip and rest my feet on the downtube and seattube going down hill.

Keep your standards low, and morale high.

I just made some of these. My bent fork gives me too much toe overlap to use regular toe clips and i'm too scared / cheep to get clipless. I have it set up so that I only have a little bit of toe strapped in, and so far i love it.
