So I started making some copper headbadges for a few of my bikes and some other people really liked them so im going to start making and selling custom headbadges if anyones interested. Will try and post up some pictures of my work ASAP or you can see some pictures on our Facebook page "North Texas Bike Polo". Can do them in copper or brass right now and will handle pretty fine detail fairly well. simple designs start at $20 and could do some kind of bulk discount if anyone wants a bunch to sell to their clubs. Just wanted to say if its not clear, these are completely hand made and I don't make any molds or anything so each one is unique and takes a good bit of time.
Tried playing around with the image pulled from the banner and its going to be hard to get a good image to transfer onto the copper with that, do you have a relatively high resolution version of your logo with a white background? Checked your website and the myspace page and the ones there are pretty small to be able to get the detail transferred well.
Here is an example of the NTBP headbadges. I will try and make a Chicago badge but that is indeed a complex logo.

Yeah any type of design, I just posted the Claremont badge I made tonight, going to make another attempt at adjusting the transfer to try and get the finer detail in there but that might give you an idea. I have a jewlers saw on order so if anyone wants the badge itself to be a fancier shape other than just round or square I will be able to do more complicated cutouts...just keep in mind just the basic ones like that claremont one took me roughly 2 hours to make so the more complicated the more time etc...(guess there is a reason why all the other people ive seen selling custom badges online typically start at $50 and go up :-p)
totally understandable. design would be the bike/florida image in the center of this, but worked out a little better (still simple, but sub out drop bars etc.) with text to the tune of 'fuck you-or fuck yeah-i'm from florida' around the edge, maybe mallets behind.. it'd be going on a bar bike.
I'll work on getting the image cohesive on a black and white background. Are you going to Austin's Halloween tournament? I could get it from you then? Or if you prefer we can do snail mail. I just wanted to jump on this since I love how the badges look.
Yeah I will be attending the Halloween tournament but if we get it done sooner I could snail mail it to you...wouldn't weigh anything so would probably be pretty cheap.
ever get that logo worked out? could have it ready by the austin tournament if your still interested...have a break from school and just quit my second job so I actually have some time to do this kind of stuff again :)

could probably do it Jinxy, not sure how fine all of the spokes and tiny detail will turn out but ill definitely give it a shot on my next round and see.
yeah i wasnt expecting much from the spokes. if you need the .ai file, just lemme know. and thanks for givin it a try :D
The tiny detail didn't pick up super great but im going to try and find a better super fine point paint pen or get some finger nail polish and rip all but one bristle out of the brush to give those fine lines like on the spokes another shot.

if you want, i can send you the actual ai file, maybe thicken cones (yeah, those are cones) next to the tree.

yeah if you want to beef up the cones a little bit and maybe play with a simpler spoke design for me that would certainly make getting the finer details etched in there better. just try and get a rough number of how many you want and ill get you a price. also, do you want them all curved or just flat so they can plastic/rubber mallet them to their specific headtube diameters? Also....personally I like it when the copper starts to age and turn colors but if you want them to stay nice and shiny let me know and ill lacquer them for you.

I've been looking at getting some made for our club. How much do you charge per badge, and can you do anything other than copper?

Hope everyone that has gotten some badges from me has been satisfied with them and happy with the price, been overrun lately being stupid and taking a history class over the winter break and trying to rebuild a motorcycle....anyways.....sorry I haven't been on here to respond till now...
-Right now Copper is the only material I have experience with but planning on playing around with some brass and aluminum this weekend if anyone would prefer that.
-I try to sell the first badge for at least $20 to offset my time prepping and working out the kinks with the design and process of making these, if you do a quick search online you will find that there are only a handful of other people making custom headbadges and they all start off at $50 for a custom badge so I hope $20 isn't asking too much for the first one. Thanks, just did a set for RVA and Atl, hopefully once they get some mounted I can get some pictures of them. Turn-around time has been stupid slow lately due to being back in school but im off for the rest of the semester so if anyone else wants any now is the time to ask, should take me a week to get the image together and ready to etch and another week to paint/pack/ship them. If I do one badge at a time it takes me at least an hour not including setting up the image. Did 8 round ones this weekend and took me about 5 hours in all (some of that time was waiting on them to etch and dry after paint)(if they are cut-outs it takes me twice as long usually to sit there and jewlers saw them out and needle file them nicely.)

I used double sided foam sticky tape. Sharpy the edges so you don't see the white of the pads, and it's held on there since february no problem. You can drill your headtube and poprivet them on as well. Not too difficult to do. Or you can epoxy/liquid nail them on as well.
