St Cago Polo Works and Fixcraft

St Cago Polo Works and Fixcraft

Hello everybody,

The day has finally arrived. The biggest batch of mallet heads I've ever made is on the shelves over at Fixcraft. In the four years I've been working on heads (eight, if you count the wooden ones I used to make for the grass game) every batch has been a little bigger, and every batch has had a few tweaks to either the product or the process or both to make it better for y'all and easier for me. Miraculously, and with all of your feedback and support, I've always sold out of whatever I've made.

This steady increase in demand has followed the explosion in the number of players worldwide. Now both those numbers are such that I need help keeping up with the player's wants and the demands of business. Thankfully, Fixcraft is there to take over the duties I can't keep up with - the emailing, packing, and shipping, and setting up tables at tourneys - freeing me to make heads and levers for them who want 'em.

They will no doubt find as I did, if they don't already know from selling their own fine wares, polo players on five continents eager to explore their game with everything available and anxious to become part of the design process and growth of our sport through feedback and innovation.

It has been a pleasure serving you all at the counter, but back in the shop is where I'm most comfortable and useful, so that's where I'm going. The new kid will take good care of you. Now buy something or get out!

-Lucky

Imma try to just keep Fixcraft in stock of whatever's selling fastest, so that will (once the bugs are worked out and I have time set aside once or twice a month to just make the stuff without interruption) hopefully be the end of the seasonal batch production model that leaves some people wanting.

Also, I will be shutting down the old bigcartel store and the email address associated with it at the end of the month. If you need to contact me directly about custom orders or products, use my profile here on LoBP. Otherwise, the nice folks in Lawrence are gonna take care of your emails and calls.

Thanks again.

Geez, it's been so long since I produced a batch of heads that I forgot my own advertising procedure. Thanks for the emails pointing that out.

What's new in this batch:

1st off, it's all "tournament" style heads. In the last batch, I was only selling pick up heads to a handful of people who really wanted them. Otherwise, they didn't start selling until I was out of tournament stuff. If you are one of those few dedicated pick-up users, let me know. It wouldn't be difficult to make a dozen or so and set them aside for y'all. This batch was made to meet a perceived immediate demand, which was tournament singles above all else.

2nd. The guide lines for mounting your shaft are painted on, not scored into the pipe. A couple of people brought me heads that had cracked along that etched-in line, and this just seemed like the best solution to keep that from becoming a worse problem.

3rd. Stickers, not vinyl decals. So. Much. Easier.

4th. A foot of tournament pipe. People kept asking me for just the thin walled pipe that I use for the tournament heads with no caps. Here ya go. With guide lines and a coupla stickers to help you out.

5th and finally. I didn't make any 6" long doubles, and made way more 4 1/2" doubles than last time. The trend seemed to be for smaller heads over the last year. If I misread that, just let me know and I'll adjust my numbers.

OK?OK. Sorry for bombing my own thread. Must be getting forgetful in my old age.

Damn, people. Already out of 5 1/2" doubles. I'll make more this weekend. Good thing it's supposed to be rainy...

Any other custom size requests while I'm at it? Bring back 6"? Another bunch of 4 1/4" "Tokyo shorties"? Just two caps fused together for a 1 3/4" "short stack of pancakes" head?
