Newer Guy needing some input

i am kinda new and playing a a doody bike right now and i was wondering if anyone had an opinion on http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/mercier/kilott_wt.htm or any other bikes on bikesdirect as polo bikes.

Bikes direct sucks. For half the price you can hobble together a used bike until you get addicted and spend all your money on the perfect bike.

Find a local who sells used bikes and go from there. If you don't have the mechanical skills to build up a frame from used bribe one of your clubmates with beer and food.

haha ok, thanks for the input.

If you're looking for a cheap complete, that kilo from bikes direct looks like you'd have to swap out a ton of parts to make it work for polo.

The new Redline Urbis looks pretty damn ready for polo right out of the box (for about $550 I think)

swap it to freewheel and you're all good.

oh, i actually like that second one a lot, wheel what ever i get or do i will need some cash it seems.

On that same site they have some decently priced SS mountain bikes and 29ers that wouldn't require many part switches
Here is the Stout by SE for less than 500

So I just got a Redline Urbis Nox after my old tall polo bike got stolen. Its a little different from the Urbis - it has a gusseted head tube - but has pretty decent geometry. The disc brake that comes on it is worthless; plan on replacing it. The frame is drilled for calipers, but only super-long reach ones will work. I just swapped out the front fork for one with canti posts to run v-brakes. Other than the brake, seatpost, and seatpost binder, I think its not bad.

Gabe...you should just buy a bmx bike for 100 bucks and have away at it. jesus. just not bikes direct.

Make sure you ask to borrow people's bikes at the courts and practice with them. practice turning as hard as you can without falling, see how tight of a turn you can handle physically, and have at it. the goal is to find what you are comfortable with, and then make the investment.

As for there's either 26'' or 700'' and they both have huge differences in the game, depending on your style. ask the clubmates. practice makes perfect.

see you on the polo court

Yes I'm a bit late but goddamn I've been playing polo for nearly 5 hours straight today so cut me a break.
