number 2 is the second easiest plastic to recycle, and is accepted by most recyclers. if in doubt, i'd check the local recycling service's website, but you're probably good.

There is only a limited amount of "reuse" recycling of mallet heads, but can I put scraps and old HDPE pipe in recycling bin? I think it's high quality plastic, so why not?
Anyone?

HDPE = yes
I don't think ABS or the UMPHW (or whatever the abbreviation for the white, mcmaster carr stuff is) can be, but I may be wrong.
UMPHW

for NAs '10 i played with a mallet head made from melted down grocery bags. i.e. type 2. target is type 4 or ldpe which is not good.
I called my local recycling provider and 'currently' they do not accept ABS.

HDPE is definitely recyclable, but some municipalities may only formally accept plastics stamped with the SPI code. throw it in there anyway, and they can separate at the MRF if they want ;)
Hopefully they won't!
I live in Warsaw at the moment (we've just got a sweet winter court here by the way), and I have no idea how recycling works here to be honest. In Krakow where I'm from (Polish 2nd largest city and in my opinion the most active polo community) there is a MRF plant by the landfill where they take a good look at every piece of garbage I put in the recycling bin. Not here though, at least not 100% sure, Warsaw might be a little behind at this.
Thanks for the feedback though!
Yeah, I can't imagine why you shouldn't. Chunk it in!
