Straight blades with 1.5" rake - 51mm, If that is correct, that's quite a bit of rake for a polo bike.
also: " my GT mtb that I am converting to threadless" If it was the threaded kind I don't remember a conversion for that.

Looking to buy a new fork for my GT mtb that I am converting to threadless. Been looking at a few trying to keep it under 100 with canti mounts and little to no rake on it. Been eyeing the Gusset Jury. Any one seen one before?

Well I am buying a new headset for it. So you take out the old one.. you get the idea

Thanks for your invaluable input
Oh and here's something from Sheldon Brown;
Most bicycle frames don'tcare which style headset is used, as long as it is the correct size. For any given frame, you can usually switch back and forth between threaded and threadless by changing:
The Fork
The Headset
The Handlebar Stem

I put a Redline Monocog fork on my 1x1. Very happy, wished I did it years ago.
I'm running a black market tech-9 fork- 390 mm axle to crown, 35 mm rake, if memory serves.
only issue- the steerer tube is only 175mm long, so it can't work with frames with long headtubes.
After seeing Doug run the mosso aluminum fork with a brake in our grass game I figured I'd give it a go.
685 grams
413 A2C
sphincter factor is 8.5/10. The fact that I don't run a front brake reduces SF. And Doug has had his for more than a couple of years now- I figure if it hasn't broken for him and his front brake then it'll probably be fine (I don't run a front brake)
I've beaten on this fork 3x/week since June and so far it's fine.

I run fb only, I was still interested in buying though cause of the price BUT I can't find one not overseas! Still might take this one in white though

Any good fork recommendations for a 700 cc fork? I have a fu man chu but the rake is so far forward, I do a lot of snow plowing. I want something that has less rake.
Play my pole, hoe
That fork looks like it's got a lot of meat on it. So maybe take an axle sized drill to the fork ends parallel to the ground or perpendicular to the blades and make holes in closer to the blades. Leave room for nuts and washers. Clean the new slots up with a file. voila, less rake.
caveat polotor: I've never done this and I don't advocate fork mods by non professionals.

If you do what nedderweevil says it looks like you'd bring the 32mm down to about 10mm rake. That could be great. Make sure not to drill the holes too close to the edge and you might also find an angle grinder handy to finish the job once you've drilled the holes. Good luck with that!
I think this has lots to do with the axle to crown distance (a2c) on the fu manchu fork. Because it's so much longer than the fork that that bike is intended for, it's going to affect handling in a negative manner. That rake is pretty standard (30 to 40mm is average on most bikes i've seen)
ya on a fu manchu it's not the rake that kills the handling its the extra length that gives you that chopper feeling. i think i saw bruiser forks for super cheap on benscycle not too long ago. or you can run a 26 on that fu manchu and that works pretty well too.
Two of my buddies use the same MOSSO fork in the picture, they love it. Very light ! No big crashes so far, can't say how robust that one is. Still, looks well designed and very stiff.
Wanted to ask :
Anybody tried trial forks on a polo-bike ?
- They come with a rake of 36-40 mm (how good/bad is that in polo?), for the 26'' wheel that is.
- Often come both V-brake and disc-brake ready.
- Are light and stiff.
I am not a fan of trials, but, seeing what those guys do on their bikes makes me believe the fork can take much of beating.
How will that feel in polo ?
Any experience ?
in chain we trust
hey~
I've got a 1.5 tire on a super wide rim (P38) so it isn't nearly as high as a 2.0- It is exactly two inches from the tire to where the fork begins.
Narrower rim would pitch the tire up to be 'taller' I'd expect, even more so with a 2.0
axle to crown is really the measurement you want to be checking for- mosso is 410mm
ouch! triple post!
the guy i bought the frame from says he can make a 370mm (assuming AtoC) for $60 +shipping. gotta get more info first.
Yeah, a fellow poloista up here in Winnipeg just ordered a custom frame from Marino bikes (www.marinobike.com). I took the opportunity to order a custom fork at the same time. It was $50 without shipping (and shipping was cheap cuz we split the cost). It just arrived this week.
It's a seriously sick fork - 390mm axle-to-crown, straight blades, 20mm rake, the v-brake mounts are on the inside and it has disc brake mounts as well. Anyone rocking a MTB should look into this builder. 1.5" tires fit no problem. I haven't tried my 2" tires, but there was plenty of room, so I don't see why they wouldn't.
Here's some pics of it on my bike, forgot to take a pic of the fork alone.
aw yeah thats nice,
who got the frame?
is it dave? Tell that sucka that I want pics.
Yeah, it was Dave M. I'll get on his ass to post some glamour shots. It's a sweet bike he's got there.
Ah, you painted it!
And you'll get plenty of pics once I finish building it. It just needs some wheels; and i've got a set of rhino lites, with some solid hubs on the way. very very soon, you will be very very jealous.
