COACHES CORNER

COACHES CORNER

So what's with the submit your bid bullshit! Who are the bids getting submitted to? What is the criteria for these so called bids. And most importantly who gets the final say on this. So far all that there is are intentions to bid on hosting these events. A bit of the cart before the horse is happening here. Simply putting your hand up is not a bid but an intention to bid.

There is no voting process established either. Does every player get a vote or should it be 1 vote per city/club. Personally i feel the later would be a fairer way due to some clubs having more members and some clubs not really having much representation on this website. Same goes for the Europeans with little representation from the masses there. ( and no I'm not forgetting Asia, OZ, South America etc...)

There is no doubt that the intentions to bid so far are great venues for this event. NYC always has there shit together. Same goes for Calgary. East Van as well.

The debate about which coast the 2011 worlds should be on favors the west coast in my opinion. Provided it returns to North America. They should have the driving option available when this tournament returns to North America. Just as the 2010 North Americans should be played in a location other than the west coast.

I would like to see the focus of discussions on 2010 not 2011 for the time being. The clock is ticking and who ever takes on that project will have there work cut out for them as it is. If NYC is NOT doing the North Americans for 2010 great, work on your "bid" for the 2011 worlds and STFU till 2010 is sorted out. You should really do the North Americans!

Perhaps we can just all concede to Madison for the 2010 North Americans and one problem solved. Then the North Americans can move east for 2011 from there and return to the west coast for 2012.

My plea to the Europeans is set the date and location asap for the worlds there, so the North Americans can be scheduled before that happens. It would be lame if SMILE is defending their world title before they defend the North American one. Atlanta if your still considering the 2010 North Americans, the weekend of the NACCC event is not ideal as it will fall on what most likely be the best weekend for North America to travel overseas for the worlds.

Tomorrows rant: The Federation and qualifying tournaments.

Ps The CBC has lifted their time delay on my broadcast so there will be no editing anymore.

If only there was some kind of governing body...

Yeah it took a bit longer but wait for it.

So if I start a thread complaining about the process, will I be brought into the loop before everyone else too?

i hereby nominate Coach as official federation president for life(or until he gets sick of it). Can i get a second?

Damn! I was about to do that!

I SECOND!

What's this submit your bid shit? What's this bullshit? I don't fuckin' care! It don't matter to Jesus.

the fact is we are already a governing body. its us, those who care about this shit. we will come to consensus just like we always have. so the bids are placed to us and what coach just did is a good step to tell yurp to get their shit into gear so that the rest of us who care about this sport can make our plans.

the reality is that the cities that put the bids in will most likley decide amongst themselves where it will be held. concessions will be made and everyone will come out happy. so lets continue on just like we are. were doing a fine job. one lesson learned is we dont give authority to one person and we dont let a polo scene host a major without group involvement.

Agreed.

I remember hearing about Atlanta and Boston talking about 2010 too. Where are they? Is this "Bid" going to be won because no one else puts in for it?

I'm all for going to Madison, should be a lot of fun. I still want to see other suggestions though.

That shit 's legit as fuck!

I don't think Boston will be making a bid this go around.

I can vouch for ATL as being a very good choice. Great location for polo.

Pro-friendly bike polo!

Haven't been keeping track of .ca much in the last couple months, so this might be in another thread somewhere, but what about making this the official way to decide worlds (my proposal, I guess): NA governing body and Euro governing body agree that worlds will alternate between Europe & NA each year, and each continent will be responsible for deciding which specific club is hosting. IE North Americans don't get a vote on which city in Europe hosts in 2010, we all just say we would be happy to go anywhere in europe (we can add to the discussion, of course, but don't get to vote) and vice versa for 2011.

Australians will want to be part of this discussion for sure, and i'm hoping polo players in Japan, China, South America, etc, will want to be as well.

Regarding the idea of the host continent deciding on the location of the Worlds: i proposed this to the EHBPC 09 committee that had taken on the responsibility of the bid process for EHBPC 2010, but they didn't want that. So Berlin just submit a "bid" to no one, cause there's no global institution. But i haven't heard one complaint, other than just the dates.

I'm hoping that by February the WHBPC 2011 process will be in place so by the time we get to Berlin we'll already know who's hosting the next year.
