Agreed. Tim D. was nasty with the wheel block
Who Is THE Best Goalie In Bike Polo?
Personally, I think I am a pretty good goal tender and really enjoying denying shots to the other team. A good defence is a strong offence, right?
I saw Seabass play at Ramsay Bowl II and the East Van Crown this fall - incredible. Justin in Calgary is good too - so i guess my question is - Who Is THE Best Goalie In Bike Polo?

Goalie who also scores.
I've never seen Seabass play but everyone seems to universally agree that he's the best. Is there any one thing you see him do that no one else seems to try or to do efficiently?
Agreed! Plus great sportsmanship - the quiet nod of acceptance/respect when a shot does make it past him.
AND goddamn, can he stay on his bike.

I think the one thing that Seabass does amazingly well is quickly block shots with his mallet. He'll deflect them off his wheel all night, but he is so quick with that mallet head it is amazing sometimes. Kind of like Luke Skywalker blocking storm trooper laser shots with his light saber.

He's also a ridiculously good offence whenever he leaves goal. I can't quite describe it, but any time you see him leave the net, there's a serious feeling of "Oh shit, this just got serious." And you know that he'll score in the next 20 seconds and be back in the net like it was nothing.

Seabass yes. Alex from Philly is pretty fucking good. Rory has gotten quite good too though he doesn't often stay in the net.

Seabass scores goals.
Seabass
Alex from Philly
Dave from NY
Patrick from DC
JT from Richmond - actually most of those Richmond guys are really good in goal, but JT seems to play in goal the most on their A team

Has anyone ever heard of this Kremin fella from MKE?
seabass or ed belfour
YIP!
seabizzle fo shizzle, the man is amazing...
Tim from COMO fo realzzzzz..
kremin would probably say seabass. seabass would probably say dustin, knowing that it is himself. i would say seabass is probably the best, only besting kremin at bike handling.
Seabass is a great goalie, and a great defensive player outside of the net as well. And yes he can play offensively.
I do agree with you Abotu Dusty though, Something about his ability to block almost everything that drives me a little crazy.

Seabass. No one else comes close. the rest imitate. From the way he positions (mothafucka hops) himself in the goal, to the way he lets the dogs out when he leaves the net. and he's so handsome OMG.

The only way to find out without speculating is to keep track of blocked shots at tournaments. If refs had statbooks, which that person would be required to keep record of points for, points against and blocked shots then we'd have a real discussion.
If I had to choose between the two previously stated candidates, then I would nominate Kremin of MBPC.

Every goalie mentioned can be scored on with a large diversity of hard accurate shots. Both Seabass and Kremin's teams limit the break away and 2 on 1 opportunities making the goalie job easier. They also can score. Playing these teams that post a player who does nothing else but goalie is generally so easy it's a joke. Every top team needs 3 players who can score under pressure (it helps if they can block too).
Rory, This is why you're fantastic.
Dustin said in conversation that team smile can take any other team in the world because of their ability to work together, individual skill is not what won them their title. Seabass is very rarely alone in a strict sense. If someone can get a shot around dustin or leon to get to the goal then seabass is playing his part, while dusty and leon did theirs before that shot happened.

you people are all high on seabass cum and don't know what you're talking about. i agree with rory, and i said basically the same thing in the "goalie" thread. smile is simply a solid team and it's hard to get a shot off. i've scored on seabass a buncha times, BFD. he's good at blocking goals, don;t get me wrong, but if he blocks 4 out of every 5 shots, and leon and dustin only let your team get 4 SOLID shots... well, that's why you just got 5-0'd by smile.
also, there's a reason i call kremin the "krem de la krem"

My vote is for Tim D. from COMO. He's got some mad goalie skills. This weekend he probably had the most blocked shots at Midwests.
Midwest is best!!
