i flew from nyc to new orleans with it rolled in the flap of my shoulder bag, then duct taped down. but it flew and i made them put 4 extra fragile stickers on my bag. it came to me fine.
Anyone flown with an unpacked mallet?
I'm flying to Australia this evening but could not pack my preferred mallet because it is too long. Slap a packing tag on it and throw it in as is? Think it will fly? hehe.
Cool, that is what pretty much everyone has been saying. And I recall now seeing hockey sticks being flown loosely. How I hope it survives.

Can you carry it on?? I've carried poster tubes before without a problem.
I tried to bring a mallet on and i was almost through security and someone stopped me just as i was walking away. i had to check it, but i played dumb and they ended up putting it in a box for me and not charging me the $15 checked bag fee. just detach the head, and bring it in 2 pieces, the security people told me thats what i should do necxt time.

This is a great picture! I had no idea either of those labels could be attached to something like that.
Nice, I checked mine no problem. Luckily I registered 2 check bags, but got my bike plus another frame in my box. So we just wrapped it up and put the stickers on. I will snap a picture of it when I land tomorrow.

well holy crap morgan, you get around. Im pretty amped about taking my polo gear back to Oz next time I return, was never gonna make it to this tourney tho. Seems like most big cities have a crew playing now, but I wont get back until march or so.
Yes yes, I am like a dirty whore of international bike shenanigans.
Right, it seems to be blowing up everywhere. I am staying in Adelaide for the next two weeks, I guess they play here too but I have not managed to track anyone down yet. Hoping to get a little play in early next week, maybe form a team here.
@prawza I always claim my bike box is camping gear and walking stick is the first thing they thought my mallet was, head and all.

i used to do it with lacrosse sticks all the time. they usually want you to put it in a trash bag or something, they also usually have bags at the check in counter.
