I heard they use lassos instead of mallets. good luck tho

It's happening! After a long week of posting on old accounts and inactive forums, I've finally been pointed to the Big D's own "crazy bike polo guy". I'm going to play with them this weekend, I'll report back on what's up with their game, yeah?
And I'm trying like crazy to push them onto this site. Like at least one link (if not 3+) with every message sent. More polo for the Lone Star State, sweet!
Tell them to get in touch with austin's page or email us so we can play!!!! www.atxbpsc.blogspot.com

Dallas would be a great place for Tulsa and Austin to get together - 4 hour drive from both places
What kind of hairstyle is that pdillo? Maybe it's a hat, I just can't decide. So true about Dallas, I'd be so down with a meeting like that.
I styled my bangs to extend horizontally about an inch and a half from my head. I think it looks cool.
Dallas would be a great place for Tulsa and Austin to get together - 4 hour drive from both places
we here in amarillo have been doing two games a week with 8 or so people who show and
have 4 who would travel to a tourney in dallas.
been fallowing the site and i think it is progressing well.
so ill get all regged up and on the list case any of
you guys come thru on a polo night.
I come through Amarillo a couple of times a year. I'm going to make sure I coordinate my next travels with your polo schedule. I'm not sure about a tourney but I for sure see a friendly brewing in Dallas. So can someone post where Dallas play on a map?

I want to see a club page up for them too, but that's for them to do themselves.
polopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolo
Well, I played with them, and they're awesome!
In terms of developing a competetive game, Dallas is still in its infancy. They're still playing wooden mallets and a size 0 soccer ball mixed in with the pipe mallet heads and hockey balls. The players are all mostly the same guys that were playing two years ago, they've just had alot of trouble with player burnout, as well as a serious lack of places to play. We had maybe 15 players at most last night, and that was apparently a very large turnout, mostly because of the interest in fresh blood. There's a definite interest in continuing to play, but they still can't imagine traveling 'just' to play polo. I tried to get on them to contact ATX and Tulsa, I guess we'll see if that actually happens.
But at least I know there'll be polo whenever I go home for a visit!
polopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolo
it was good times. and don't let joel speak for everyone....i think there are quite a few folks who would be up for taking a little road trip for some polo.
true, it's still a new gig for most of the players but we've had 3 organized games in last month or so, which is more than we've seen in a while. seems to be a new face or two each session, so that's a good sign i suppose. i figure if we keep playing, we'll see a little more interest.
if any of you Austin or Tulsa folks wanna try and hook something up, let me know.
@txgoldsprints
We are playing 3 times a week in Austin, if you Dallas guys want to come visit for a weekend, we will show you a good time. I'm sure we could also get a few teams to come up to visit you all, I know there is also some interest in Fort Worth, so it would be good to get those guys out as well. Let's develop the Texas scene, it's a long way to Tulsa and Nola from here.
it's a long way to Tulsa and Nola from here
Dallas is a perfect meeting place for us all. Let us know and we'll come down too.
agreed, let's see what happens with Dallas Polo in the next few months... or better yet, let's just meet there and hope the Dallas squad will come out too!
Yo Dallas, where you at?
when ya'll want to do this?
@txgoldsprints
I say we try this right after the holidays... sometime before the middle of January. what do you all think?
that's probably best for all the interested folks down here. a couple weeks notice wouldn't hurt the turnout either.
Weekend of january 9/10?
@txgoldsprints
Yeah, and this is way more than a couple of weeks notice, get the word out, let's make a big deal of this. Let's do a cookout, a bike ride, some polo games and whatever else will get more people to come out and watch/play!
Does anyone coming have a problem with the 9th and 10th of January?
im always down for dallas! i can visit friends and ride bmx aswell :) win win for me..haha..lets play some polo!!!

I'll definitely be part of that cookout. St. Louis is the next weekend after that. I wonder if the 2nd-3rd would be any better. I don't really have an issue with the ninth though. I'll take a show of hands tomorrow and get and idea of who all is planning to come.
i just put the word out to see if that weekend is a good one for the locals. watch this space and i'll let you know.
i'll have to check on the facilities up there for cooking out. it's in a weird spot in the park so it might not be right by the court, but we can work something out.
@txgoldsprints
now if those kids in houston could stop doing tricks long enough to hit a ball around...

Yeah!!!
My mama lives in southlake...in between Dallas and ft worth. We (atx) could crash at hers and try to get friendlies happening in both cities for a weekend!
this would be really tight....
fucking texas is so big.....there are at least 4 cities
that could have polo clubs....and a ton of in between cities large enough...
what about waco??? san marcos??
texas has the potential to be the biggest polo state in the south/south west!
So here's what we got so far...
Texas/Oklahoma polo friendlies!
To take place at the Dallas courts, on the weekend of January 9-10th.
Teams/Players from OK city, Tulsa, Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Amarillo!
Food and Drinks possibly.
I know we in Austin can scrounge up 2-3 teams worth of people going! I'll get a for sure head count in a couple of weeks.
im so ready for this!!!!

i will be up in the DFW visiting my dad this upcoming weekend (fri dec 4-sun dec 6) any polo happening? ill bring my bike and come out and play if there is. holler at me dallas!
there's chatter of some games sunday afternoon / evening at norbuck. we'll see what the weather holds....
@txgoldsprints
Really, you guys should come to Amarillo to play. We are always having to travel down state for everything because you guys think just because your cities are bigger they must be better too. Well, you are wrong! Amarillo is truly the capital of polo in Texas. If anyone should travel anywhere, you guys and gals from Dallas and Austin should mosey on up here for a friendly game or two. Shoot, I bet we could even make room for you in the hay loft. And if yall make the trip, we could even invite the okies from Tulsa too. And hell, New Mexico and Colorado arent too far from here either. We could have the New Mexicans and snobs from Colorado Springs come down from the mountains and make it a four state championships. That is, if all you big city folks arent to good to visit us here in the boonies.
Consider yourself invited.

really? how come no one has heard of amarillo and the polo that you have going on? we have been doing some traveling ourselves to a few tourneys and have had one of our own!i think dallas would be a great spot since it is pretty much dead center and everyone would have to drive-plus it's polo and there is no excuse! ha

I like this, I've been to Amarillo, it was covered in snow... this was a while back, though, during spring break. I wouldn't mind driving 10+ hours to play polo in my own state! It does suck that you guys will have to drive 8+ hours to get to Dallas if we all meet there. It's only 4+ for everyone else.
We could definitely set something up though and invite the clubs from Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and maybe Arkansas and Louisiana might join in if we entice them enough, to come play in Amarillo, it really is a great location! Amarillo, are you up for this? not any time real super soon though, theres lot's about to happen!
i think someone should map this out first and see what this city has got and is all about.this would be a far drive for most of us for some pick-up and being that we have no idea of the place or the people who even play there.although if it is legit, this would be an awesome spot for a tourney to take place since a lot of states are around the tip of texas! it would almost be like everyone is driving the a center point of the u.s.

Well, I spoke with my beret and he said that Dallas would actually be ok. Not the best spot in the world, but ok. The only condition being that if we bring a crew to Dallas that you must promise to consider maybe coming to Amarillo sometime in the future when we host a tournament.
Also, we are very much up to putting on an event here in Amarillo. We can put on an event very much worth the drive and have a dedicated crew that know how to do the job right. Just puttin that out there because we would love to have everyone join us for the party.

lol, podz. you rustler.
i am sure amarillo can get one or two teams to the tourney in jan. we will be ready to get out
of the cold!
Speaking for Austin here, we'll definitely come to Amarillo for some play, if you can promise to play a whole weekend with us and show us a good time around town and especially if you guys come to Dallas! I'm always willing to travel for some polo, even if it is just pick up... now if you host a tourney or something, we will most definitely come to play.
and like i said, amarillo would be an awesome spot for a tourney since the other states are pretty much around you. i think this could also possibly get Texas on the map aswell and maybe other we could all start teaming up from texas to enter other tourneys!

I'll be in Dallas for sure! I'd also love to 'mosey' on up for a tournament in Amarillo as long as it doesn't conflict with St. Louis or P-Cola. So less-talk, more action, yeah?
I agree that Amarillo is a great central spot for a tournament. Tulsa will come. It's really an easy drive 6 hour drive for us.
I'm seeing something positive here.
And, Amarillo ain't so bad if when you're done you want to see the town. I can travel to a degree, and I'd be more than willing to throw down in Dallas, the only other city I have called home!
(I have also heard Austin is somewhat nifty)
HAY!
I'd rather go to Fort Worth though. Unless we stay/play in Oak Cliff, Farmer's Branch, Carrolton, or Irving.
HAY!
We'll try and come to Dallas, but only if I can dance. That would be neat.
I would also like for Daniel and the NOLA crew to come, but only if they dance. I personally experienced daniels moves and he can really cut a rug! Dallas, can you make it happen?!
www.atxbpsc.blogspot.com
looks like that weekend of 9-10 can be a go here. joel has organized the tourneys here before and he's on board.
both days?
@txgoldsprints
I'll post this & see if we get any takers..only 5 hours from us.
dAVEo Little Rock Bike Polo Club
okay, looks like we're good to go.
we've got some tentative commitment from a sponsor or two, so we're a go for a tourney on saturday. there will be some prizes and cash for the winners. still working on the details, but mark your calendars for polo marathon 1/9/10 at norbuck park in dallas.
we'll try to get there early on saturday so we can use the court all day for pick-up games and then start the tourney later in the afternoon. lights will stay on until 11p.
it's on.
@txgoldsprints
Amarillo is coming. We will have at least 6 guys make the trip, maybe more. Any place to sign up yet?
I think you just signed up! Can't wait to meet you guys. I drive through Amarillo several times a year. It'll be great to have a reason to stop. Next time I'll have to plan my trips to match up with your pick up games.
this is just a friendly event, right? i am stoked.
TX polo, what what!
I got us a sponsor as well. Daddy Hinkle's an Oklahoma meat marinade company wants to send us down there with all the fixins for a great cookout on Saturday. Can anyone hook us up with a nice grill?
with a bribe like that, we'll find something to cook on.
joel put up a facebook page for now. go tell 'em how many.
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=197024485758
also, regarding 'friendly' games, we're planning on a tourney on saturday, but there will most likely be games on both days. for the tourney, the plan is to collect a few bucks for each team and use the kitty to pay the champeens. i think he did 15 or 20 per 3-man team last time, but i dont know that there's been a decision made yet.
what's the norm for you regular tourney-competing folk?
@txgoldsprints
Okay, we have a little natural meat store here called Harvard Meats that I could pick up all natural hamburger meat from, would that be okay with everyone? I could plan burgers for maybe 40 people? Am I over-estimating? Just right? I'm really good at grilling so I don't think it will be that big of a deal unless it's freezing cold or something. I'll bring buns, lettuce, onions, the whole thing for the best burgers of your life.
I just really want this to be a good time and I'm glad all of you guys are up for it. I don't know much about running a tournament but I'll try to work it out with my team that after we win all of your guys' money we can take you out to party a little. Sound good?

deal.
we'll do our best to have an idea of how many folks will be there. if we get enough people together, we may have to look into getting a permit to use the court, but it shouldn't be a problem. city of dallas can be a little weird that way.
i dont know how much resistance the dallas polo players will offer up for the tourney, but the fiesta is par for the course around here. sounds like this is gonna be a good time.
@txgoldsprints
This all sounds great, but I don't want you guys to go through a lot of trouble to plan out a Tournament, we were originally just wanting to come up and meet all of you and play some pick up. I agree that with this many different clubs coming in to make a big event out of it all, but there really isn't any need to formalize this thing. But if that's the way the ball is rolling, we can certainly keep it rolling.
Also, there are a few vegetarians coming to this, so if there is any chance to get some good veggie burgers too then that would be great... if not, we'll bring our own.
If you need any help txgoldsprints, let us know and we will do what we can!
yeah, it's all good. there's not really too much to it. we're all gonna be there, so might as well have a little fun with it. the last tourney was pretty casual, so i wouldn't expect fireworks and dancing girls but having a good time is always job 1. we're pretty excited about having some interest in it again.
there will be plenty of time for friendlies before/after too. that court is mostly vacant these days.
just hope the weather holds out....
@txgoldsprints
get some good veggie burgers too
Is that a real thing? Veggie Burgers? hmmm, well, hmmm, I'll look into it and see what I can do. I'll check some recipes and do some google searches. We've got over a month so if they 're a real thing I'll do my best to find a way to use Daddy Hinkle's and make them the best veggie burgers of your life. The food wasn't over the top is was just the permits, right?
yeah, and depending on the size of the crowd it may not even be an issue.
a few of our regulars are vegetarian, so a non-flesh option is always present.
@txgoldsprints
That's okay. I guess I know a few people myself that don't eat vegetables at all. I think that's mostly for socially conscious reasons though. I've looked it up and it turns Vegetarianism is widely practiced. Sorry I didn't think of it.
It is a likelihood that I will be going to this.
HAY!
hey austin, if ya'll bring some of them sweet-ass polo t-shirts, i'll bet you'll be able to unhand a few of 'em while you're here too.
@txgoldsprints
consider it done!
my shop bikelife will bring some swag. i have some rims i could toss in there
the more the merrier. i am not opposed to a big-ass pile of stuff to give away.
@txgoldsprints
What if every city brought something to throw in the prize pile... I'm sure we could get a few things by then... just a thought! It will be like Christmas all over again!
How bout we bring some ABS pipe? From what I read everywhere else on the forums, it's kind of hard to get for so many.
HAY!
I'm originally from Dallas and have lived in Phoenix for about a year. I'll be visiting for a week during the holidays. Who can I get ahold of for info on some games while I'm in town??
..get a life, crackers..
the 1/9 polo-fest has been posted to tourney page.
@txgoldsprints
i heard they do more fighting than actual polo. good luck tho
