games to work on team play?-training
Just curious, the cities out there that play over and over as the same team in tourneys, do you guys ever play creative games or training games to work as a team more.
-like passing so many times before the other team touches it before you can shoot.
-or if you guys do other things to train each others teams i would love to hear what others out there try to do.
thanks.

Only three people showed up last week so we played 1v1v1 with one goal. It was great ball handling and shooting practice.
done that a few times...works out pretty good for ball handling.
"can't score a goal on someone while doin a fuckin keo-spin"
we played this with just a cone as a goal. hit the cone.
we just play and whatever happens happens.
Hey! What happens happens STAYS in happens happens.
Kenball, cone drills, the flying V or whatever that lacrosse pattern is called...
Victoria started having "Drills Night" to get people out playing, especially since as a scene grows, pick up grows and not everyone can play at once. Drills night is more inclusive of everyone at once... maybe a Victorian can report in on how that's going... but they're probably all too busy smoking herb and eating delicious natural foods and being casually beautiful to be checking the interwebs...
ya i would driil night but east van is to busy and they dont listen have the time to what i have to say

League night, kenball, cut throat, three, five, and seven touch before a shot, secret cone drills in the dead of night blindfolded with one arm tied behind your back so you have to steer while shooting with no hands. Okay, everything but that last one.
Yo Dawg I heard you like redundancies so we got a PIN number for your PIN
what is kenball and cut throat?
its death defying. on a bike
A month later...
Cut throat is a fun practice game that you can play with any or an odd number of players. It's played normal polo rules but after a goal the player who scores swaps sides. If five people are playing, the game ends when one scores against four. Its a good exorcize. Games can last awhile depending on the level of players. Its a nice alternative to 2 v 2 when you don't have enough players for a real game.
I once saw a game called the "Shuffle Game" posted here- the gist of it was that instead of counting one point per shot, you get as many points as passes made between your team without a turnover before shuffling into the goal. Any shot was counted as a dab.
Now I don't think the heavy emphasis on shuffling is such a good idea, but I do still like the idea of changing up the points system to strengthen team play.
Unfortunately I could never get 6 people out here in LA to play a game like this. They're just a bunch of hotshots with no manners down here!

This was a melbourne thing that we never did much, but I still believe in.
It was suggested at a time where lots of play involved people swinging at and missing the ball. (We all know what I mean!)
Or shooting it off for the sake of the hit. Theory was if people learnt to shuffle and control the ball a bit, things would improve.

Here is that document I made about the game from this thread on dotCA that discussed other team building.
It contains some very timely topics of discussion.

when we ran out of a place to play here in san diego we found an area called petanque courts (i believe i spelled that right). but there were two short courts filled with dirt and in between them was a concrete open area with benches and an awning on the border between the concrete area and the dirt areas. it was such a long playing area since we went from one dirt court to the other and the obstacles of poles and benches in the way. plus the dirt caused many incidents of lost traction and not stopping in time. also since the court was so long we played four on four, and first team to ten points rather than five. it was called super epic bike polo. a.k.a. bike polo 64 since it was an upgrade from super bike polo. not exactly helpful on team play but it was like some futuristic dystopian game where the losers get fed to the lions.

our "team building" sessions consist of going to the pub and drinking some pints. we do it after nearly every polo session, sometimes even on non-polo days
