Tulsa Polo Tonight?

If it isn't lightening or raining too hard, I hope to get my first introduction to bike polo tonight.

Or at least be given a mallet and get to ride around on the opposite court learning to try to move the ball around without crashing into spectators and children.

I'm not proud, I just want to play. Ok, I will be a little proud to be the oldest guy out there.

Hope to see a dozen of you tonight at Zeigler Park, or wherever.

What a blast!!!

I waited until just about go home time to let them talk me into throwing in, and had a hell of a good time. Oh I put my foot down a lot when folk got near me, just nervous, but I got a few good blocks, and one final break away after a block where I out ran Storm's , (I thought) slapped a nice shot from half court 45 degrees towards goal.

I can't tell you if it was close, because the world spun. Storm had caught up, tried to block my shot, and I rear ended him. Damn he can turn that bike on a dime and ride fast!

That was it, I found out when I got home I left a little bit of me on the court, so I am hooked now.

Too bad I didn't know about this game 30 years ago.

Everyone out there was half my age, very nice, very helpful. Just a bunch of really laid back folks enjoying a late summer evening.

I really enjoyed the evening/meeting with Storm, Dillon, Colin, John, Jose, Laura, P.Dillon, and all the rest.

It will take a while to learn names.

Great having you Jeff! Welcome to TBP, hope to see you on the regular

You will. Even Joy & Autumn are excited to watch.

As an aside, I know my "big break away move" was only like 15 feet, but it felt like I owned the court for a few seconds.

As opposed to sitting in front of the goal, and dabbing my foot and having to go tap the post at bad times.

Okay, Polo Night and the In-laws are in town. Hopefully early dinner, visit, they take off, then off to play polo.

Bar plugs arrived, they are the "boat plug" compression type, so that is finished.

I ordered an EigthInch mallet so I can be ready for Sunday on my own hook.

Picked up a pair of Ski poles, 5XXX aluminum alloy series. So we will see how Aluminum - Magnesium alloy holds up. The poles will be lighter than the 7XXX aluminum alloy series poles, which were twice the price.

I have to make a local contact today about HDPE pipe, or order from McMaster. I read the rules concerning mallet construction, just smooth with maximum dimension specs. Those maximum dimensions specs don't bother me, being new I won't know a difference. Other specs, not mentioned, are of more interest to me.

Looking at another unknown MTB on c-list. I may pick up and modify. Loads of ideas for this bike, having seen Storm perform on his Fleetvelo.

That is going to be a big part of the fun for me in all this, the wrenching/modifying/manufacturing. A big plus is being able to do so much/get so much done for free.

Ah, the wife just texted and remembered this is polo night, said "Eat, visit, then we can split for Polo".

What a woman

Good to have you with us Jeff. You remind me of when I started and was full of great new ideas. Keep it up, some of them may pan out for you.

Thanks Steve, fun to be there. I am going to put the original bars back on as they have a riser. I have to find this balance issue.

I am going to stay with this bike along time, so I want to experiment on it to figure out what works for me.

What is the name of the loca supplier for the Street Hockey Balls? Jose told me, but i forgot. I think the mallet arrives today, so I need to be able to practice asap.

I will also want to pick up a few feet of HDPE pipe from, Phillip? I want to build extra mallets this weekend also.

Overtime Saturday, so no road trip for me. As well as In Law visit and possibly a funeral.

Jeff

I've got a couple extra balls so I can help you out there. Just email me if you want one. Sorry about the funeral, I hope they had a good life.

Everything showed up today, balls, 8th Inch mallet, & extra bike seat mount. Old bars back on, new brake cables etc. I will be headed over to the Darlington Park tennis courts to practice, until I get run off. That entire park has been refurbished, and not a tennis ball scuff anywhere on those courts.

Yes, wife's Uncle, Thanks for the thought.

Are you guys headed to Kansas this weekend? Salina? I would like to go to Salina, and hit the Acoustic Sounds showroom. Alas, Overtime for me this Saturday.
