also here pretty soon, Farmer John will be doing a special feature on all of the sports they think are the most worthy, or unique or bad ass, and we were on the top of their list! I will make it a point to direct people to LeagueofBikePolo.com and promote the poloverse. I think a billboard over the 10, 210, 134, 101, 710, 110, 5, 405, 60, 91 and all those other so cal LA county freeways, will be awesome, and is what bike polo needs! screw extreme unicycling, screw little league hockey, screw rugby!

LABP was on the front page of the LA Times. Did that open any doors or bring in any new faces?
What are you doing to capitalize on the media attention?
Better tournaments, better sponsors.
Our media record will be more appealing to sponsors. Also, this could help us and bike polo show the world we are a legitimate sport and organization and maybe get more support from the city and parks/recs.
That way we can host better tournaments as well as get more people interested in the sport. It's a helluva lot more interesting than "tarp surfing" or "kanjam" which from what i understand, is throwing a frisbee in a trashcan.
Bike polo is familiar in the cycling community, but outside of Cog magazine and fixie whip blogs, not many people know about polo. Why not take every opportunity we can to show the world what we are all about?
i figured asking the polo community for some help in club/sport promotion wouldn't be looked down on or questioned.
i could care less about the custom bags and water bottles or bbq prize, what i am interested in is the advertisement of bike polo.
its a fun contest, free shit, free promotion... why shit on it? go vote.
just a little disappointed in the vote numbers right now. i figured posting here would have us as a shoe-in in one night.
i am looking at this as a benefit for the whole polo community, not just LA. i'm not thinking just about the city i play in, but the sport i play.
when I am 50, I want to be the local high school bike polo coach. i want polo moms to kick soccer moms asses.
i want to see kids look in awe as i show em how it's done, and go "whoaaaa no way" when i tell em about tournaments and how 'we used to do it'
we all have to start somewhere. we all have to support each other. even just for a stupid contest, this could be it. every news broadcast, every magazine article, commercial and billboard brings us closer to the days when we can ride past a park and see a polo game going on, while the basketball players have to beg parks and rec for a place to play.

I agree with you totally, even being 1/2 way around the globe I can see the benefits of this for the sport here in NZ. I'm appalled at the apparent apathy when someone puts out a call for action on something as simple as this... but mention standardising goal width and everyone want to have a say. Big picture guys, big picture!! (And I don't just mean the billboard).

i was hoping to get LoBP to help us out, which a few of you guys have, and I am very appreciative of it. Maybe not everyone has a Facebook, or they don't look around enough on the forum?
