Oh shiiiiiiit! I was thinking about staying on the West coast between NA's and Worlds. This could be a good enough excuse!
SLAYCATION!!!
hey everyone!
slayla and I have talked and we think this might be an option for travel this summer.
loosely based around the two weekends of worlds and NA's, we will have a tour.
we would rent an RV trailer that could sleep about 6-10 people and have a follow vehicle.
cruising from spot to spot visiting polo towns between tournaments on the cheap and fully enclosed... we have a large diesel landscape truck that could pull the caravan, hold bikes, luggage, tools and temp. boards to make a court anywhere if we wanted!!
still in the works and ideas flowing all the time, right now we just want to see who would be interested...
costs will be kept to a minumum, everyone will split everything...keeping a daily log of exspenses people could "hop on and hop off" at various times, we're not looking to get rich quick on this one...
sounds fun right? serious fun???
holler at yo' slayas!!!
Damn, that sounds like some 100% grade A badassery. I'm all about it!
If you aren't sinning, Jesus died for nothing.
this was the brainchild of one Blokker named the TERN, whilst driving home together on the way back from madison last season. sketches of the perfect vehicles customized beyond belief lost on his computer stolen in berlin..ahagad.!.. sadly.. he will not be there to serve you his trademark "$200.. i shit you not" breakfast.. or will he?..

P/M hardcourt would to like to host the slaycation carvanfifthwheelpickup convoy in Pullman for the Polo Idiots 24hrs mid August. We have 4courts and can play nonstop polo throughout the weekend there are hookups for the van down by the river with camping spots available as well. Let the polo slayers and idiots unite for the fun of polo. We will be posting more info to the tournament thread soon.

I'm very interested. More solid ideas about the price range would help.

polopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolo
yeah, we are looking at all that. right now the two biggest things are fuel and rental of caravan. other than that campsite hook-ups are cheap and we could make alot of our own food and whatnot..
so yes, i will put some figures together and if ther is enough interest we will go ahead as planned.
keep you posted

Deaddog- sacbikepolo
Funny that you mention that-my plan was to catch a ride from Sac to Portland and bum around til it was time to go to Calgary.

dang. if i don't land employment in the coming months, i might just sell my car and any other possessions i can get money for and jump on board. fuck it.

Jay, I wanna do this. At least for a couple weeks, money is looking A-OK with me right now and I'll probably fly out there this summer whenever I feel like it. I don't plan on playing in any tournaments but if something falls in my lap and it doesn't interfere with pickup games Im down, I definitely want to come play in E Van. Portland, Seattle, SF/OAK, and anywhere in between. If this amazing rv rental doesn't go down lets look into a 15 passenger van with a trailer or something along those lines. I'll be in touch, this is gonna be a good summer!
totally sean, keep the ideas comin people! lets work on a timeline and schedule for the tour right here for all those who are interested.
also keep in mind out there those traveling to this region,, while all this is going on and you cant make the tour you could stay/rent out the "slayers keep" and make portland your base of operations in the build up to worlds.

All right.
Scheduled tournaments:
Rumored Tournaments:
Based on this, I would suggest that those going the whole trip gather in Portland mid-July, after the Nanaimo and Sac tournaments. The caravan could leave Portland Thursday, July 28 or Friday July 29 for Edmonton. We'd stay there until Tuesday or Wednesday, then go down to Calgary for NAs.
From Calgary there are about a million different ways to go. I think it'd be nice to visit and encourage a bunch of the newer clubs, particularly ones that have trouble getting six players on a regular basis. Also, how far does the entire caravan want to travel? Is Saskatoon too far out of the way? How about Sacramento or Salt Lake City? We could just make sure to be in Pulman-Moscow whenever they want to host us, since they've been kind enough to volunteer to host us.
I think Olympia would be a good last stop on the way to Worlds- we could visit their regular Wednesday night game and hop over to Seattle Thursday morning. After that, we could tour the Victoria/Nanaimo polo scene before the (potential) East Van Crown, then head back to Portland and to real life. This adds up to 7-8 weeks on the road, for planning purposes. (I really hope I can go.)
polopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolopolo
you know you take bike polo seriously when...
If I ever actually set up my scanner, I'll upload my notes. And yes, the first thing I wrote on the page was "Cascadia Polo (I'm taking this too seriously)"
&It looks like the ferry cost will vary based on how long the trailer is- $85 USD for up to 30' from Port Angeles, $45-$95 CDN for 20'-30' from Vancouver. If people want to pay the ferry fee, I think Victoria, Nanaimo, and Parksville are the perfect tour stops between Worlds and the EVC. If not, we could hit up Corvallis and Cherry City polo right before Worlds, and then visit Olympia and Bellingham afterwards.

well done Danya! serious fun!
shoot me an email off list and we will talk more.

Crown is confirmative.
Okay catfish, I'm going to move my mouth like this...
I'd love to get in on this. Let's make it happen.
Ride, bake, polo, repeat.
Come to Bellingham before Worlds! It's on the way down from Canadia, Oly is the next stop after.
Edit: Woops, read further and the path is crazy!
I was just going to ride my bike from Calgary to Seattle but this sounds like way more fun. I am for sure interested Just need to get that bread stacked first.
Ifuckinglovepolo
i was talking with the ringer last night. it would be pretty simple to start a document that has a calendar with an icon representing each ticket holder.
we can't take off the whole amount of time that danya is sugessesting either... but once the route is plotted things will be more clear.
edmonton before calgary and after that pullman or swing over on island of victoria... which if we did, could also mean helping east van break in their new rink. or...do both..go down come back up to ca. then on to seattle.
if this helps anyone, the ---travel trailer---- is going to be around $300-500 per week (sleeps 6 but we will put 9 in it)----- fuel---about $150-$200 per day..split it up and gets real cheap..
if and only a big IF.. there is enough interest we might go bigger and just get a massive RV tow a car or rent a passenger van as well for campers... this would be easier... for one, just because you could lounge while on the road...we can still do this in the travel trailer its just illeagal i think, just hop in the vehicles for border crossings..
Portland United

I like the Big Rv idea
Ifuckinglovepolo
I'm not sure what you're pulling this thing with, or how far you plan to travel each day, but I think you may be under-estimating your gas costs a little bit. In Alberta right now Gas is about $1.19/litre, and in BC probably closer to $1.30/litre. Make sure you fill up before you cross the border.
*edit...just re-read the top where it says you have a large deisel....that will help.
we can do this people and we can do it affordably!

yo edmonton! get with the program...we can bring everyone up after na's august is looking empty.. pullman we are coming down to you after that.
then across to the coast maybe sacramento but fuck thats a stretch. this is the part where we might hit a few small towns in cascadia or go to the coast and relax before worlds. after seattle, east van crown... i am really hoping you guys in evan land are having this right after worlds for optimal attendance. confirm..or..deny...
note: side stop, in east van will be at Wreck Beach where we will swim naked and throw frisbee with my skeet skeet and daddy Tern..

people who are really interested should email me...for around $50 you get transport--housing/bed--fuel--logistics all taken care of. there are other options such as not having a bed and crashing out wherever for less. everyone can either pitch in whenever for food or make their own. all the stuff to make it will be there-------this fee does not include campsite fees that will be split evenly between everyone at that given time------it wont be more than 5-10 bucks
ideally people will email me and write me what days they want to be on and whatnot.
we will then need to collect the monies thru pay pal to reserve the trailer.
any comments and suggestions are welcome i hope i have most of the dates right...yes oly i am looking to you or anyone else who wants us to roll thru..step up now please
LETS DO THIS, you will never regret it!

A suggestion for after Pullman would be Boise, ID from what I've heard from their city rep. they have good numbers. I imagine a few of them will be headed back to Boise from Pullman and they can show the slayers a great time. I'll have their rep get a hold of you if they can host. So Stoked for this!!!
P/M Hardcourt
note: we can handle 8-10 people at any given time.
edit: for around -$50 per day-...man all that for $50...that would be awesome..

I'm in for a one way ride and gas cash contribution between SF and Sacramento. If there's no room, I'll find a way to tag along.
Also - maybe see about recommissioning a Green Tortoise bus? Hah!
(these used to run once a week from SF to Portland / Seattle and had a massive rack cyclecide / guajolotero style on top where you toss your bike)

Credo quia absurdum
I'd like to be in from the start thru to the 26th in SF and recon with ya'll in Seattle...gonna email ya.
Ride, bake, polo, repeat.
p.s. this will be amazing. ya'll are amazing.
Ride, bake, polo, repeat.
possibilities?:
I am the proud new owner of a 1979 dodge camper van. I don't know how many it could comfortably sleep, but my guess is 4 ( with cuddling), not much for beds, but tons of space. it's got a raised roof. i'm insuring it for 6 months next payday, and it's probably going to be taking Nanaimo to PDX, Victoria, NAs, and Worlds.
however, I'd be into piggy-backing onto this caravan post NAs.. taking a few extra bodies... who knows.
