Don't know, it's 2 lil' screw to remove the cage... it take maybe 40 seconds to be done...
Have a water bottle on the bike?
I saw people playing with a bottle fixed on their frame during the wolrds in Berlin, isn't that against the rule who say:
2.2 – You may not add anything to the bike to help block shots (e.g., a bar under your BB, netting in the front triangle) with the exception of wheel covers.
?
yea, I'm not seeing the BS by asking someone to remove the cage during a tournament. I'd be super pissed if a tourney match got down to beer point and one of my shots deflected off a bottle cage. for pickup I could care less. But for Tourney play? It's time to get serious.
Asking someone to remove the cage devalues the bike.
LOLWUT?
Yea me too. Back in April when the draft rules for NAHBP were being thrashed out on this forum Damon (Dingo) asked this same question:
"You may not add anything to the bicycle to help block shots (ie: a bar under your BB, or netting in the front triangle) with the exception of wheel covers.
What about water bottles?"
It was ignored (or lost in translation). I'm eger to see the discussion on this. My position is to remove them (incl. cage) for tournaments, keep 'em for pick up.
sarah in LA caught the ball in the cage. very funny mishap. we treated is a drop just as if it got stuck in someone's spokes.
give blood. play polo.
i don't think a water bottle is designed to block shots or put on the frame to help block shots. it says to help block shots.bottle and cage is to help keep me hydrated. now if i was running a water bottle thats used on a TT bike like the transition, i could see issue with that.
this knit picky shit is sounding more and more like the uci. sooner or later we're going to be calling for frames to be made of steel, 26.0 tubes only, as larger tubes add more material to block shots.

A person’s ability and skill make their game.

This is also why I quit racing BMX.

A person’s ability and skill make their game. - Sure, but if I have the skill to shoot thru your frame "Triangle" and that option is out 'cos of a water bottle is that cool at a tournament like the Worlds? Not that I'm personally of that skill level.
"this knit picky shit is sounding more and more like the uci. sooner or later we're going to be calling for frames to be made of steel, 26.0 tubes only, as larger tubes add more material to block shots." - Is this really the start of a slippery slope to over regulation? I hope not!!

A guy from "tough shit" team have a bike made like a girl's frame but with a classical top bar more, So he have a tube in is triangle. It seems pretty logical to don't tell him to throw his bike away in the begin of a tourney, cause that's impossible. But remove a cage is pretty simple and quick.
And i can't imagine that people playing with a bottle water in a cage never think about some miracle stop with that.
Sorry but that's not UCI style, just logical, rules talk from long long time about non allowed parts on bike to block shot, and i think that cage or botle on cage are...
See you guys on my touring bike. Gotta stay hydrated. Don't want to have to pause mid game to refill a water bottle.

fuck that I saw Seabass's water bottle block a shot at ESPI's, totally illeagal
i'd wager my entire garbage pail kid collection that his leg would have stopped the ball if a cage didn't.
you gotta show up before you can start wagering your shit that no one wants. It got stopped by the top, and it knocked the bottle outta the cage
Are you kidding? No one wants garbage pale kids?!
I'd call this argument a wash.
- No one needs hydration during the 15 minutes they're playing. Plenty of beer before and after.
- The chances that a bottle influences the outcome of a game are like 1 to 1000 against. Plus, when you beat the team with the bottles you can brag "hey we beat that scary team with the bottles!"
But seriously - Sean - really nice writeup you shared from Worlds. Thanks man. Did the girl friend nanny who let you in the back door ... ah never mind.

Hey curlybro take off that 48 tooth chain ring ur not using too.. i might block a shot.. this is ridiculous.. Real Talk
My Heart belongs to the Streets of L.A!!
do people actually drink from their water bottles during a tournament game?
-my stomach is a pickle-
x2 how can people drink while playin' ? I don't get it, is it like one hand on the handlbar, the second on the mallet and the third(?!?) on the water bottle????

but first I gotta figure out how to fit it in my triangle....
Luka did it during the euros, during a timeout.
it's called a beer holder
to be fair then, we should all install a bottle cage.
thing is or everybody has it or not. So, I thing, as the possibility is low but it can happen, they should be all installed or all removed.
i am repeating myself.
But think of a final, 4-4. And a super shot gets blocked by a lucky cage.... wouldn't be pleasant for the unlucky shooter and his team.
Anyway, the whole thing is a bit of a thingy twingy little thing.
Call me fickle but I've changed my views on this topic. This could make a great polo bike, even with a bottle:

I was wondering how long it'd take for this to become an issue.
Its a tough call. I think it'd be total bullshit to ask someone to remove the cage but it would be OK to ask someone to remove the bottle from a tournament game.
Asking someone to remove the cage devalues the bike. I ride bikes for fun AND transportation and I need that waterbottle cage sometimes.
