Fuckin' with the Goalie

So this was the rule that I found about play against the goalie.

9.8 - Goalie contact: A player may use their mallet to hook, shift, move, etc. the mallet of the player in goal in an effort to get them out of position or prevent them from stopping a shot. Body-to-body contact or any incidental bike contact with the goalie is permitted only if the contact is between the player with the ball and the goalie.

I play goalie a lot and I just want to make sure when I am being fucked with, it is in legal bounds.

My question is, can someone roll up and with their front wheel push me over? or use their bike on my bike to bump? or hop sideways and use their ass to knock me over? It says that you must have the ball in order to make physical contact with the goalie (unless its with mallets only) so can I just tell em to fuck off and stop wasting their time?

I have also encountered pile ups in front of the goal and when someone falls and already dabs, and falls into me... do I have to dab?
Faulty breaks or slick conditions can land a player sliding right into me. Is that an unnecessary check?

Rolling your front wheel into the goal/net passed the goal line to keep the goalie from entering their zone, is that allowed?

All of this is "illegal".
Yes you would have to dab if you fell. BUT a good ref should be stopping play and turning the ball over to your team if this happened anyway.

This is totally legit. If they get there first, its totally within the rules to block the goalie from getting into a proper position.

Ok, if they do block you out of position, are you allowed to in turn roll your front wheel into them and try to knock them over? Not a T-bone at speed, of course, but a controlled push.

A t-bone is a t-bone no matter how slow you're going! It's "non-incidental" (read: intentional) bike-on-bike contact.

Pro-friendly bike polo!

This is a good thing to remember.

I saw a team eliminated in TO by this move recently. At the time I was disappointed that such a good game, ending in sudden death, finishing in what seemed a lame way. An offensive player parking themselves front wheel in the defensive goal and blocking the goalie, allowing a shot to be made. But two things occurred to me, one, the losing team showed exceptional good grace when offered a second chance due to the contentious nature of the goal, declined and congratulated the winning team. The other was that it didn't seem like such a guaranteed wining strategy anyway, if the offensive player holding the ball lost possession then their team would have had a player facing the wrong way and stuck in the opposition goal mouth. Unless they were one of the many good hoppers out there.

At the same tournament I "messed" with a goalie to my own detriment. Coming up parallel to my oppositions goalie, seeking to block his movements and sight-lines, I parked too close and locked bars with him. As I sat there looking stupid he in his exasperation pushed me over. I accept the punishment. Neither of us could have moved and in the end we both had to tap out. Perhaps in a more closely matched game (we lost, 4-0) this might have been more contentious. My "incidental" contact crossed some line.

I'm not sure I agree with this, but this was definitely how it was called at NAHBPC last year, and it seems like an easier approach to implement, without any significant loss to game play.

incidental does not mean unintentional!

incidental contact is contact that doesn't affect the game;
non-incidental contact is contact that affects game play, regardless of intent.

CHRIST JESUS! thank you for this....I have wondered about this since I started....I do ALOT of screening on offense and when I see a GREAT goalie who's been keeping em out all day ... if they don't pull into the goal fully, I' gonna hold it open with my front wheel

i have a question about fucking with goalies.
if a goalie is a little off center of the goal, and i post up by them, and my mallet is place 6"s to a foot behind them and they try to back up, to defend the goal, but they roll over my mallet and get stuck is that illeagal?

LOL.

the red ball. that is where your game should be.

well if two of my teammate have the ball and i moved into a position to rebound the shot, sometimes i end up there. if i understand your post. which i don't totally.

If you have to ask, your probably bein a dick

at 1:13 the player with the ball leaves it to ram the goalie, it seems all wrong.

keep the chutzpa in check and don't wreck!

yeah... that vid is from 2 years ago. when dick moves were allowed.

we be civilized now.

think about it, in hockey, if ramming was allowed like that, you would have a player shoving and checkin the shit out of him the whole game. if you have to do that to a goalie to score, you're not a very skilled player.
but hey, when i get fucked with like that so they can score, that just makes me feel better about my skillz. :D

give blood. play polo.
