That is all for now.

beautiful. kansas city will be there.

is this absolutely set?

Nah, it's totally for fake.

Done.

Very excited! Last time I was in Mpls (my two friends and I) dropped acid on the Stone Arch bridge then rode bikes around downtown all night. Then I remember something about Ham beer... or is it Hamm? Whatever, ya'll got cute girls up there too! That part I remember!

Is there a tentative location yet? I've noticed you guys have some pretty decent street hockey courts.

No one in Mpls has any idea about details. Ask our Czar, Bjorn.

"Fuck the pigs, Fuck the punks, Death is where its at"

Its pronounced "Hamms" 30 pack=15$

"Fuck the pigs, Fuck the punks, Death is where its at"

On a hike after christmas found this 30 - 40 year old Hamm's can. I think that there used to be a lot more Hamms in California ... must seek more ...

This thread brings up a challenge in the sport. Aspiring to halfass mellow professional. Community based. Yet competitive. People have day jobs and only some Cascadians are getting flights paid for (so far as I know) so a championship even like worlds is in a context some teams had to work or go to a funeral or already blew their wad on aeroplanes and didn't go. Same problem ranking players. Anyway, I'm glad its this way and not full baked professional.

We're working with the city now to figure out the location. There are two city parks with street hockey courts, one of which is our regular pickup court. Unfortunately, they are both at the extreme ends of town and don't have room for another court anywhere nearby, so we're trying to set up a temporary location for the tournament that is more central.

Ben, the date is not totally 100% guaranteed and set until we get some more info from the city, but it seems it's the date that works best both for local planning and for travelling teams. Unless there is an extremely compelling reason to change, these will be the dates.

we have a wedding we are catering on sat the 22nd. it is possible we could get well prepped ahead of time, come to the tourney sat morn, play the morning bracket. meet our 4th partner at the wedding sat afternoon ( jonny, jon and i are all partners in the catering company ) cater the wedding, then come back to Minneapolis after the event. the major issue is that the event is in 20 min south of madison which means a 9 hour round trip. the other option is that we skip out on the first day and get randomly seeded into sunday. if thats you tourny format. well a different date would allow us to chip in more and provide some food as a sponsor and what not. the sooner the date is set the better though because we can make sure not to take events on that weekend.

ok do what you do and well make it work.

as much as i love having you madison boys around I am in no way in favor of changing dates to accomodate one team. MPLS it's up to you though

I think loosing a food sponsor and three top notch competitors is a compelling reason to change the date. Plus Butt City wants another crack at them.

"Fuck the pigs, Fuck the punks, Death is where its at"

It's not a Midwest tourney without Madison representation.

Pro-friendly bike polo!

Agreed. As much as we love 'em, the poloverse doesn't revolve around the Hunters. It's more of an ellipse. I'm sure MAD will represent just fine, and someone else can beat Butt City.

The date is set.

Unless there is an extremely compelling reason to change, these will be the dates.

^Don't forget Stag! Also, when I was living out in Washington state I drank tons of Rainier Ale. Tasted like shit, but at 7.3% and $4.50 for 6 tallboys it was always worth it.

Are you going to set a cap on the number of teams? I heard some talk of capping events like the midwest or at least limiting enrollment to teams from outside of said region. Thoughts?

"Officially changing my name to _____ George"

a little bird told me the spring midwests will be closed, the fall midwests will be open.

Columbia, MO

Distance being a factor for some, we are not worrying about having too many teams.

This, of course, all hinges on getting 3-4 courts at one location.

There has been no talk of limiting it strictly to Midwest teams as of yet.

Not to mention that no one has been able to cleanly define the Midwest yet (as much as Lucky tries...).

SUCK TOWN POLO

We've already had midwest tourneys with teams outside the MIDWEST attend. why start now? Earlier in days it was that way because polo travel wasn't as common. Until local tourneys get so large it makes organizing near impossible I think we can keep the Midwests an open invite to all. what y'all think.

www.mkebikepolo.com
www.mkebikepolo.com/wordpress

I think it should be left up to the organizer. However that being said it helps as an organizer to have an idea of how many people know they are coming in advance from obvious cities so they can turn down folks ahead of time

I think it should be left up to everyone that is a regular participant year after year.

As long as whoever wins the trophy gets it back for the next tournament, I x2 open registration for anybody in the whole world.

I like your polo.

Just two months ago everyone was saying make the Midwest in May for the Jenny Cup and for the Midwest only...(as in our actual regional tourney, for future qualifying needs), and then the fall an open tourney. I don't care either way, I'm just repeating what was discussed after the Nov. tourney.

I still like this idea. Twice a year midwesterns. One is open, one is closed. Simple and straightforward.

I say midwest teams only, west cost championships only west coast teams... anyone can come play pick-up, hang, sub for a team or what ever. This is going to have to capped at some point and it would suck to deny a true midwest team cause a team from Texas, Florida or wherever beat them to registration. Don't know if this can be done but we could even open registration to midwest teams first then if it does not fill up then open to everyone. Just a thought.

Ifuckinglovepolo

the west coast tournament is not west coast teams only. I really think we should keep this tournament open. I think it is an honor if we have teams from different regions who want to come participate in our tournament.

I don't disagree, and for this year it doesn't probably doesn't matter, but if we start using our regional tournaments as qualifiers, then it wouldn't be fair to flood it with teams from other regions. I love playing with people from all over, and the last Midwests was a blast because I got to see people I met over the summer and met a lot of new people. I can just see it becoming an issue by 2011.
