Is there any talk at all of shortening the courts? Would that be too much of an undertaking?

Are there any rules that will be added/removed from the official rule set?

wink wink
4v4 6 person bench on THAT court!
wink wink

como knows about some 4v4!

rabble rabble rouse rouse

4v4 qualifier to play a 3v3 national tournament?

That makes a fuck ton of sense.

yeah, I guess what makes more sense is freaking out over an internet post that ends "rabble rabble rouse rouse".

good luck with living in the past playing a solved game with a flawed ruleset. 3v3 with teams of 3..."that makes a fuck ton of sense".

Until the qualifying is changed, it makes perfect sense.

You have all the answers, so what tournaments are you throwing at your 4v4 court? I'm assuming those courts were there before polo was being played on them, so you had zero input in the construction of them. Am I right? Why don't you stop shitting on every tournament and throw your own.

There has been some chatter on shortening the courts. Building insert walls have been brought up, but there hasn't been a huge compelling call for this. The courts are ~180ft. A potential compromise may be to bring the goals in some to shorten the goal-to-goal distance.

There will be a discussion of rule caveats. Topics that have been brought up are:

- Court size (as noted above)
- If the crease makes it into the NAH ruleset, we may use the existing crease size and dimensions already painted on the courts.
- Play to time. No 5pt goal cap.
- Timekeeping: E.g. - Use continuous clock and "15 seconds of safety" crossover timekeeping instead of stopping clock and requiring teams to give audible "ready".
- Potential requirements for teams to have at least one certified ref.

I want to state that no decisions have been formally made about any of these topics, and that it will not be the host club who exclusively makes the decision on what proposed caveats will be submitted to the NAH for ESQ. In the spirit of playing it like it's the NAHBPC, it is advantageous to alter as few rules as possible so that our qualified teams move on to NAs with a strategy that best equips them for the best performance.

I am new to the East Coast. Looking for a team. I am a Lefty. I have been told that I can be somewhat fast and mean on the court. But I am somewhat nice off of the court. Type back if you need a teamie.

Lefty Bullshit!

I would like a team for this!
First priority of this tournament for me is to have fun, but still remain competitive.

Self evaluation: I'd say I'm a B player (or high C player? really depends on the talent pool), I like to play a more defensive minded game, but I sometimes tend to show some competence on the offensive side of things.

Registration opens next Wednesday, May 6th, on Podium. 9:00pm.

EDIT: It was pointed out to me that the In-region registration is set to one week, not two, so open registration is on May 14th, 9:00pm.

are y'all shrinking the courts?

They were going to, but Rick Moranis couldn't fit it into his schedule.

I'm jelly...I might try to come to this just to play on a grown folks' court...if y'all don't fill up locally that is...

It's very possible that we'll fill all 32 team spots come show time, but I'm betting that there will be spots come open registration in two weeks. Eastside has a lot of players, but I'm sure there will still be spots.

crease, obstruction, 15 seconds to cross, no scoop shots, etc...any local flavor to this shindig or are y'all playing NA style in prep for the big show?

The only exception to NAH v4.5 we will have is that the court size is larger.

End of discussion? Love it or leave it? Good.

nice...didn't want to come to a scoop show!

UPDATE: Friday Night Lights

Because we want the courts setup extra nice for the big show, we will have full access to both courts on Friday night for clean up, site prep, and of course pick up. We will have lights until 10:00pm, so plan to come by and check in!

A good chance to remember how big a smooth these courts are or just a chance to connect with your favorite Eastsiders.
