shit i was trying to hold half back. but to answer your question, probably not camping at the courts, there are places to camp in madison, but most parks close at 10 pm. but we do have a night time court your could play at.

RVA is looking to fly in and ship bikes, any recommendations on where to send it? Ben I promise not to ref any games your in, especially against Seattle

ship them to just coffee 1129 E Wilson St.
Madison, WI 53703.

Need a team for this.

Is this an open tourny or invite or what?

"8 big courts, 96 teams, registration will start in March."

So yes?

Not much March left ...

how many teams from san fran?

we are extending the month of march two weeks to allow for more time to get registration set up.

At least 2, maybe 4.

Hide your badgers.

Yeah, the registration will begin on march 50th

dude, he said March 50th. That's only like a million seconds away (1,036,800 and counting)

Anyone driving thru cascadia got some extra room? Oly wants to go, but we don't have cars :( We do however have gas money, food stamps and righteous company so let us know what the word is! We can also split up and ride with a bunch of different folks if there's only room for one or two in each group. Thanks!

If you aren't sinning, Jesus died for nothing.

I'm pretty sure all Seattle players are flying there.

looking for a team.. A players please. So when does registration start???

Matt Messenger

Make sure you have good thumbs. Mess likes players with good thumbs.

what does he do with the good thumbs?

Ruckus, how is that thumb???

Matt Messenger

It now pops out once a month. The more it happens, the less painful it is. Just something I have to live with till the off season.

Good thing for us the off season is Tuesday and Wednesday.

I don't think I have a full team for this...maybe we should talk.

Will from New Orleans and I are looking for a third Justin?

I need a sugar momma so I can work less and play polo more!!

My taxes are paying for my polo habit this year. Buying my ticket this week. Do I assume correctly that other midwest cities will be hosting fun times before this?

The only reason anyone does anything.
For the lulz.

Come to Chicago!!

Midwest is best!!

Yes! Chicago has 2 courts side-by-side. We want to host A LOT of pick-up the week before NA.

Where are the courts at? Got an address? I'm bringing the wife and baby. They're gonna want a hotel, I'm gonna want to be close to the courts. I need to get the hotel res sorted out soon..

get something near the airport, or near east towne mall

Can anyone estimate a registration opening date?

i'd say within a week approx. keep your eye on this thread, http://facebook.com/leagueofbikepolo, or http://twitter.com/nahbpc2010

Calling all BENs. There are a ton of Bens in bike polo. I'm proposing the Big Ben Beat Down. Get your Bens together.

carve. smash. eat shit.

Paul Come to Calgary then we fly up and meet will and we camp all weekend then all fly home after!?

I need a sugar momma so I can work less and play polo more!!

I plan on flying to calgary, playing in y'all's tournament, hitching a ride to madison, then after that tournament hitching a ride to milwaukee to play there and see built to spill play a show. it's gonna be sick

carve. smash. eat shit.

One of my all time favorite bands. I've seen them 6+ times. If we ever meet each other ask me about the time I pretended to be a courier to get Dug's autograph.

haha i've always wanted to borrow a pizza bag and empty box from work and slip in to a show or a sporting event. awesome.

i signed a suicide pact with gulf south boyz. fraz, ab, and i will be representing new orleans, mobile, and pensacola. fuck the haters. woop!

carve. smash. eat shit.

I may also need a team for this. Our club is kind of getting splintered after Midwests.

Bike Polo Ronin

someone pick this guy up for an "A" player goalie :)

Fuck off

Started a new thread for NAHBPC matchmaking: http://leagueofbikepolo.com/forum/tournaments/2010/05/16/hookups-for-nah...

Just a heads up registration for NAHBPC 2010 will open up on Thursday May 20th. We will post a link on this thread as well as on the home page. Get your teams in order and be ready to register asap, we are going to set this up as first come first serve.

I see that registration is open and very well organized. Congrats.

Here's my question: Our club is not very well organized. Can we register 3 blank teams and bring whichever 9 people it turns out can make it that weekend, or must we register 3 teams knowing all players names and appeal later when someone has to drop out or switch places?

if you pay i don't care who the names are right now. This is because i'm assuming that you will have your 3 teams in order by at least 2 weeks before the tourney which would give a team that missed out enough time to still make travel arrangements. I'm also assuming that if we do sell this out it won't be until late June.

I need a team for this ...........if anyone wants to take it to the limit one more time..

"So this is how it ends"MACHINE

dam i just realized this is in July and not June!.this tournament thing can get addictive..

Can someone post a map link of the court location(s), or an address, so I can figure out where to stay??

The cheapest hotels in Madison are close by, you can search for Stoughton and East Washington. There's also a youth hostel downtown and some B & B's scattered around.

Any places to camp or through a tent?

I need a sugar momma so I can work less and play polo more!!

Not at Quann Park anymore? wont this location only provide for 8 courts? is that enough?

zooming in on Kev's link- it looks like there are 10 courts? Is this location locked? I might pull out of my hostel reservation and try for something closer to them courts.

we are coming up from the southeast. anyone from our parts want to carpool?

how many spots open? going early for pickup?

Ladies and dudes; The Midwest Championships have got my mind buzzing about how to build killer courts. I'm working carpentry full time and I've got plans made up. Experiments will start soon and results will be posted here for your input

Can't wait to Jon...

Hey Calgary. I need a ride back to Alberta. Any room for me?

Hey Falcon...you still driving from Calgary to Madison?

Is my team going to this?!

Anyone from Milwauke leaving around Thursday afternoon that I could posibly cetch a ride with?

I need a sugar momma so I can work less and play polo more!!

Also is there any camping the the area?

I need a sugar momma so I can work less and play polo more!!

I was looking for a motel and was reading the reviews and found this "My wife and I watched 2 people fucking in the parking lot. It is not a safe environment for a family. However my wife and I were so turned on by watching the people fucking that we fucked each other in the car and it totally revitalized our sex life so, thanks Budget host-Aloha Inn" And it is right near the courts. I think I know where I want to stay!!

I need a sugar momma so I can work less and play polo more!!

I plan on staying at a luxury hotel furnished by a major bicycle company.

I like your polo.

mad_sam (not verified)

Camping-friendly families without cat allergies could stay with me, though my yard is not large. Nobody in Madison lives closer to the courts.

I can probably fit 4 tents in my backyard, plus a bunch of people (3 comfortably, increasing numbers less so) inside the house. There won't be any parties here, but if you're interested in getting a good night's sleep, drop me a line.

EDIT: My place is full.

I've got a bivy tent and enjoy a good night's sleep. They call me grandpa polo, fer chrissakes. I would like to stay in the non-party place.

Max your place is the closest? where is this park? I thought it was going to be on the west side. I was going to ask to stay with MAx and Jill.

East side, see link above. i don't know if max and jill will even be in town.

Beer is brewed...now for the waiting game. So stoked for this!!

Midwest is best!!

So I just wanted to see if there is any interest for "special" treats at North Americans. If so, what kind (brownies, cookies, cupcakes, etc... be creative!!)?

Midwest is best!!

Berry "Spice" Muffin

But with butter! Margarine is icky.

The only "special" treat I can think of is something that only our dispensiaries are "legally" allowed to sell here in colorado. If you are interested, I'm sure we can bring a whole bunch of "special treats". There is "special" popcorn, "special" cola, "special" yerba mate", "special" brownies and cookies (duh), "special" caramels and chocolates and the like, and dare I say it, I've seen the beans but haven't partaken yet, "special" coffee beans!!!
Then again, if you were thinking "special" with tons of affection and fondness (with the image of your mom baking cookies on your day off from middle school) and no actual drugs in them, refer to megs.

disclaimer: these items will probably not let you play polo or get any amount of sleep.

Maxx- that is exactly the kind of "special" I am talking about... Of course my treats are made with love AND make you feel good inside as well. : )

Midwest is best!!

i've had special treats from denver and they were awesome, however, megan's special treats are on a different level of deliciousness altogether.

oh man, sounds like I am first in line for megan's treats.
and to respond to her original post, I'd like a double chocolate chunk special brownie. make that two or three. I might not be able to eat these until the downtime (i.e. pickups after all of the round robins) but I'll take your(chris') word that they're awesome.

oooohhh yes, that would be appreciated. the more moist the better....thx.

Matt Messenger
since 1998

I'm thinking I will make something chocolatey and something fruity. They both will be extra moist... I don't fuck around with this shit!

Midwest is best!!

Some buttery scones would nice to start the day with.

i really enjoyed kremin's chocolates during spring break. i also would like to x2 on the muffins made with real butter.
oh yeah, julia, the girl, made some fly brownies for the NOLA tournament....just saying

judjud judjud judjud judjud...James Hetfield purified...judjud judjud judjud judjud...

Okay catfish, I'm going to move my mouth like this...

How many spots for teams are still open?

Ride, bake, polo, repeat.

Plenty, we'll let you know when it's getting tight!

please post the rules

gonna wait till after espi's to post the rules, wanna see how a few things work out there.

I certainly hope you aren't going to allow shuffles.

madison has been for allowing shuffles to count for quite awhile.

When we explain the rules to newbies here just get them in a game it's usually the dabbing/tap out rule and the shot off the end of the mallet. Wut's up?

The rules will be decided upon by a national committee and not just the organizers, right? Since it's the NA championship and all. It's not that I think you guys would pick bad rules, I'd just like to see NA Hardcourt have a direct hand in things.

I'm curious: Why do you want this committee to have direct influence on their tournament?

Seems like it would be "our" tournament hosted by Madison, and by the way, I've heard Madison is amazing. Semantics, yeah!

Thanks. I don't know you, but even though you said absolutely nothing, I've formed a strong opinion. Very efficient.

Your internet persona is a caricature of a New Yorker. The NAHPC is the right place to showcase unified rules not your idea of interference or Madison's shuffle goals. Like Pete suggested, using the organizing body that has been put in place makes sense. I didn't really believe Madison was suggesting shuffles will count in the tournament but my point that you failed to comprehend was that your assertion that it's their tournament so therefore their rules is at best limited thinking.

I was simply asking why Pete (or you) think that the committee should be directly influencing the rules for that tournament. *neutral inflection* not why, just why.

We, as a community, voted in a body to try to organize what we thought needed organizing within bike polo. A standard rule set was high on that list. A committee of that organizing body was tasked with collating and making coherent a standard set of rules. They made the results of their efforts public and open to debate. After that debate, a set of rules was determined to be good enough to try out at tournaments. After trials, the rules may be further altered or codified.

There is no better forum (nor a more obvious need) for a standard rule set than the North Americans, where teams from hopefully every region, who play under every condition, style, and rule set in the sport, will be competing. The NAH should be influencing the rules in Madison because it's what we asked them to do.

Hit the nail on the head, thanks.

No whining or begging, Kremin. It's not polite.

shuffles really??? Where's the committee?????

Matt Messenger
since 1998

I'm cool with shuffles scores as long as I can hang a 2x8 from my axles!

check. turning and pedaling would be .. problematic.

As long as the rules are posted more than a week before the tournament if there are going to be any changes that would cause the amount of hulabaloo that the ESPI rules caused. I understand that madison is going to be the tournament hosts for this event but I believe that there should be little to no regional flavour present in the rules. I believe this, as the North American championships, and not SESPI, WSI, ESPI, NSPI, or Midwests that it makes perfect sense for it to be the standardized rules that have already been presented before us.

The only reason anyone does anything.
For the lulz.

Tournament Rules will be posted next week.

As stated in the bid for this tournament the Madison Club will consult with the North American Hardcourt Body on its rules. I think this puts us in a good position because it allows us to work with a rule base that is being debated currently and set forth by the rules committee. Because this tournament has such a large group of participants it is not my goal to bring a new rule base to the table.

Jonny, I can't wait to meet you in person. You're such a reasonable human being that I'm honestly surprised sometimes.

Edit:I realized as I posted this that I have met you. And I regret that I didn't talk to you more then.

The only reason anyone does anything.
For the lulz.

Tallahassee played with shuffles for about 3 years between 2k5 and 2k8 and only reluctantly switched when other teams started springing up in South East, all of which decided early on to play with the ends-shot rule.
It was actually a lot of fun playing with shuffles; a distinctly different kind of play: lots more goals and a lot easier for new players to get a handle on the game. Not really arguing for or against really, as the game would still be fun either way.
Really looking forward to the nationals; my thanks to all those doing the back work to get it organized, your efforts are appreciated.
ps - i can't believe there are still spaces open in this tournament! I'd of thought 96 slots would have been booked up right away. How many are confirmed so far?

this isn't "national's". it's the North American championships

I think if we played with shuffles then we would never get better! There would always be some easy way to score.

Fuck off

my ride is coming up early, any chance for some pickups during the week prior? should i get dropped in chicago instead?

Come to Chicago or Milwaukee instead. There will be tons of out-of-towners in both cities that will be playing everyday prior to NA's. Madison will have their hands full with tournament stuff and Jonny, Ben, and Atwell will be busy with opening their restaurant.

Midwest is best!!

im in to pickups in chicago or milwaukee. whats the chance of getting a ride back to madison? my ride will be continuing to madison for some road racing.

Still nothing on Camping Options? Sorry to nag but I'm on a uber tight budget and would like to know if there's a possible spot to camp at or if I have to go to the outskirts of Wisconson and set up my tent.

Your best bet for proximity is probably Lake Kegonsa State Park,

it's a 22 minute drive.

There are a lot of really nice ones a bit further out, like Blue Mounds.
Here's a map: http://wisconsinstateparks.reserveamerica.com/generateBrowseMap.do?state...

There's also some KOA bullshit somewhere, you can google it.

mad_sam (not verified)

Token Creek is closer than Lake Kegonsa:

I can also accommodate a small number of campers in my yard, with the caveat that I live in a quiet neighborhood, so my place is pretty much for sleeping only. Also, if it rains, a pond forms.

That said, I have room for another tent or two.

EDIT: I have no more space at my house.

can we call dibs? austin, texas

Fuck off

Sam, do you have a few trees for a hammock??? if so, hold me a spot!

Matt Messenger
since 1998

i have another option for camping at one of our players houses. It is right on the lake. Contact me for more info.

I'D be interested if Sam is out of room.

Matt Messenger
since 1998

your good with sam

Hey there, a handful of us from Tally would like to camp up at nationals. Looks like 6 of us. either 2 small tents or one big one. None of us are party animals. We would love to get in on one of these spots. Thanks!

Stop calling it "national's". it's a continental championship. this continent consists of 3 countries.

Alexis is right. maybe call it continental's from here out

Doug D
Brooklyn, New York

GalaXy's ohtwelve ftw!!

That will include Central America and the Islands, more than twenty countries.

Okay, this date is coming up really quickly. Registration is going great. IF you have registered but not paid you must pay in order to hold your spot for the tourney. Also, we will be ending registration on July 9th. This will allow us to have a full schedule for the players when they arrive at the tournament. There will be no on site registrations or any registrations allowed after the 9th of July.

We will also be offering free bicycle yoga classes in the mornings at the courts for players. Thurs-Sun. bright and early,

still anxiously awaiting the rules...to scoop or not to scoop, is this the question in your mind?

No scoop goals. I can't believe this is being debated at a major tournament. We've seen the ruled for months. You don't bring in new rules midway through a season. Scoop shot are a skill that take practice. Maybe some folks out east have been practicing shots that have been always been against the rules but I haven't. If the rules are going to change a time period for all regions to adapt needs to be in place. Same with obstruction rule which is so lame and hard to enforce that I can't believe it is even being debated in the middle of tournament season. So much crazy talk about silly rules is giving me a headache. What New York says goes for the whole world now? I am excited about Madison but lets keep the game we love recognizable for a least one more summer.

Excellent point! No scoop shots.

When I contacted the three east coast reps about the including the scoop shot at espi, they were all for it. The reasons being that they took skill to perform, were entertaining to witness, and didn't change the game. I think I only saw a handful succeed the entire weekend, but when they did, the crowd literally went wild. And I hope you're not talking about recognizing your sport in reference to the obstruction rule, because ever since I started seeing low brow moving walls down the court I thought polo was getting a little out of focus. You weren't at bench minor or espi V, why don't you let more informed players take over this one?

Seems to me I've heard most people say on this site and the people I've talked with have almost all said the obstruction rule enforcement was spotty (again difficult to enforce) and was only called by New York refs. You're right I wasn't at either tournament. The only time we hear from you on this site is when you want to change the rules/game. Obstruction using your bike is integral to bike polo. I'm not against all change and agree some of the rules from both NY tournaments may enhance the game. Well done for your imagination but I'll only support rules that make sense and the obstruction rule does not. I guess Beaver Boys can get into the final with or without obstruction rules and they use the most obstruction of any team I've played against.

i second rory on all issues about obsrtuction whaetver rory says from now on about this silly rule I automatically x2

yeah rory, right on. i can't believe my eyeears. i read on here shuffle goals was debatable? holy shit pink twinkies, i've been playin for 10 years now and that blows my goat's dick. get it right, its really simple. skill is the name of the game (no dabbing, clean shots off the mallet ends, don't b a dick on the court, ), not flailing out of control ram my ball down ur goal hole bullshit. nice, clean, gentelman's polo governed by karma and the godess of polo, finessa. for all the rulemakers out there , start a new sport and call it bike hockey or something, quit trying so hard to b in control of bike polo which has been doing just fine for years before all you poser wannabe s started playing, u know who u are.

david joseph"polony"wells

zip. throwing the key.

I've been playing since 2005, that's two years of "circling out".

Not really sure if i should respond to this rant. But i will.

The shuffles being allowed was a joke. I'm sorry that it upset you so much. There are going to be rules, hopefully they make the game more fun to play and create less chaos. It seems like you disagree with that.

polony wrote:

...all you poser wannabe s started playing, u know who u are.

I think you should name names, ASAP. Enough of this beating-around-the-bush bullshit, you need to start speaking your mind, NOW!

u mean u don't know who u are? he doesn't know me very well, that rant as it was put, was as big of a joke as shuffling goals so pull your panties out of the bunch and play me some polo. i read the posted rules and in my opinion they will do, obviously a lot of time and thought has gone into them, good job. there is that make u feel better

david joseph"polony"wells

Wrong, Crandell was put in the box by Coach (from Ottawa) for a clear obstruction on Doug during our game against them. The dozens of "refs" in the crowd were pretty spotty, and pretty verbal even though they consisted of the biggest anti-rules .ca members. However I thought Coach and the rest of our refs including Matt Hewitt (from milwaukee), and Dusty (from seattle), did an excellent job of calling the penalties that we told the teams we'd be looking for: the obvious and dangerous ones. I hope it's not going to take a huge team of tactless bullys to show you how far and easily the current rules can be exploited.

this just gets better and better!

Fuck off

This just gets closer and closer.

I am unable to make it to the tournament I have already paid the registration and bikefrog ( bfrog76@yahoo.com) is now looking for 2 stellar team mates to join him last minute in madison. Anyone interested should contact him directly.

"So this is how it ends"MACHINE

Rules will be posted via twitter! follow @nahbpc2010 for all scheduling, rules and debating of the rules

that is a joke. But hey do follow us on twitter as it will make it easier to communicate information about the tourney and where stuff is going to be.

penalty boxes are more ridiculous then anything else. there are many other ways to enforce rules. it changes the whole pace of the game. NO BOX FOR 2010!

Hey Paul NYC, I bet you 10 bucks that the total NAs thread(s) post-count goes over a 1000 before the first game on Friday.

I also bet that these threads will crash this crappy pc in the shop.

Beaver Boys for NA Champs.

Teams from Italy and France have registered for this thing.

apart from it be the North American championships, the fact that the dates are the same as the euros makes this interesting....

Oh, I was under the impression that this tournament was open to other countries to participate in. Kind of the like the french open. In the bid for this tournament we did not specify that teams had to be from NA in order to register.

I'm cool with it. let them play

I think he was just making a point that overseas teams coming to NAs when they could be playing in the Euro championships is a testament to how rad this is going to be!

regarding sleep sights: WHO IS CAMPING? and where? are you reserving a spot ahead of time? I imagine we (ATX) will be camping, but we are social creatures and want to be where the party/people at. Tell me where you're staying so we can get on board!

Camping for sure. I thought jonny mentioned something to me about a place to pitch a tent. I'm not sure where the late nigth spot will be though.

Just found out about this tournament. I was wondering, since I'm so very late at finding out if...
1. Anyone still needs a third for a team, or would like to start one up.
2. What the camping/lodging situation is.
3. Is there a limitation on bike? Is it only track bikes or can we have a free wheel?
4. Where I might find rules and regs about this?
5. Does anyone need a ride? I can pick up anywhere from Little Rock to Kansas City to Davenport to La Crosse to Madison.

Reading that got me really excited to come play. Seems like everything's planned really well. I wanna score so many goals. Haha.

Also, I just looked at the map. Am I correct in seeing that I will step off the plane and directly onto the polo court? So close!

If so, where are we all going to camp? I hear there are no more spots for camping and I'm pretty sure a good amount of players aren't going to pay for a hotel/motel/room.

OooH!~ We can build a fire and make marshmellows and have sing a longs!~ & Also, share polo nightmares.

This is gonna be great!!!!!!!!!!

But really, Tent City, where it at?

there is no tent city set up. there is some camping around madison. If players are willing too ref there is an opportunity for housing but most of those spots are filling up. If folks wanna camp near the courts and risk it then go for it. Lots of cheap hotels near the courts.

Looking at this map i see lots of wooded areas behind the baseball fields that butt up against some golf course. Not to sound like a complete hobo or anything, but if i pitched a tent back there would it be visible from any road or parking lot?

[ps - we've already made alternative housing plans, but i'm just wondering. if i could spend the whole weekend a stone's throw from the courts i wanna do that! plus we're all very poor. nevertheless i'd respect any ultimatum you guys made on this topic.]

A bunch of people camping illegally in the woods doesn't really help us vie for legitimacy in the sport.

While it does sound fun, you have to remember that everyone that comes to this tournament represents hardcourt bike polo, not only for locals in Madison but any press that comes along the way. Just think that needs to be considered before we make ourselves out to be a bunch of dirty, shack-up-in-the-woods, drag-on-the-community kind of travelers.

not to discourage you from tent city but that airport is where alot of military jets are based, and fly regularly out of. when i went to matc madison, which is right by the courts, i would see and hear at least 1 jet take off and land a day while on campus. just a heads up.

Get rad

ill be in chicago on tuesday. lets get some pickups going!

Oh feck yeah.

You'll see. Unless you drilled out your eyes because they were too heavy.

Sweet! You can stay with me again if you like. You and AB are going to have to cuddle together on my air mattress though... See you soon, Jared!! Also, there will be tons of pickup going on all week for all of you out of towners. Sadly, we don't have two courts anymore, but the city put up hockey boards which are pretty sweet!

Midwest is best!!

Just bought my tickets-I'll be in Madison from early Wednesday morning til early Tuesday. Who else is going to be around then? I plan on claiming one of the courts as soon as I get off the plane. Or is there something to do in Madison besides playing polo all day long?

you can visit the state capitol building. It has the largest dome of any state capitol building! Only the U.S. capitol in DC is bigger.

- Beaver Boys * Milwaukee Bike Polo Club -

I'll be in early wednesday as well. I'll find you at the courts.

Fuck yeah ringer!

We are the only team from the entire South East region who've registered for Continentals?! I see a few random S.E. individuals scattered around on other teams but are we really the only full S.E. team?? JAX, FTL, NOLA, SRQ, Mobile, Pensacola, FTMyers, Tampa/St.P, ATL, Athens, Charleston, Savannah, etc: not a single team, what's the deal?!

From the tournament rules thread where i realized there is no response because it is not the proper thread.

does anyone know about accommodations for two more polo wanderers from denver? I volunteered to ref but I am not sure I want to do two shifts and my teammate/homie needs a place as well and I think he said he is not really into refereeing much either. we are crazy poor and just two of us carpooling to madison from denver so we're paying out the ass to get there, would really appreciate free housing and will partake in plenty of medicinal goods. Ask ebbin from minneapolis he'll say we're great house guests!

How many teams are signed up? The doc says I'm ok, so my foot is no longer broken.

damn dumptruck we thought you had retired from tournaments.

63 teams so far: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0Autj3tqs5MHTdERjNmRpb1dWUElGMDZ3...

if you're looking for a teammate post here: http://leagueofbikepolo.com/forum/tournaments/2010/05/16/hookups-for-nah...

deadline Sunday at noon to register.

okay, so i'm going to by flying into chicago on tuesday. how are chicago people getting to madison? are people driving, getting the train or what? if there are people driving up, could i grab a ride from someone, or maybe just even my bike. what's the deal with trains/buses?

take the Van Galder bus from either airport. it's $25 from ohare, $29 from midway, and definitely the most convenient for you and and all those driving.

I finally booked my ticket and this is what I am doing. Getting into O'Hare at 8:30am Wednesday morning. A bike is $5 extra in a box or $10 extra if unboxed.

or often free if you load it yourself and/or it's in a goalie bag or otherwise doesn't look like a bike.

Should your beautifully geeky brain be available at all between now and the tourney (I know I know...) I was wandering if you could possibly put together some magical setup of a standing tree (OK so I don't know what these things are called in real life) you know, sort of like this:

which could be updated remotely in real time so that I (cause it's really all about me) can follow this from the comfort of my hammock.

Ok thanks. Love ya.

Well thank you dear sir. And where will I find this thing of beauty?

sunday's format/schedule: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0Autj3tqs5MHTdGZPWjFjRTBYZkxoTS1o...

i'm not sure if we'll be updating it live or not tho, i guess you'll just have to come to madison

Registration is closed, see teams at http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0Autj3tqs5MHTdERjNmRpb1dWUElGMDZ3...

Please post a schedule.

we're working on it. There will be morning and afternoon groups Friday/Saturday, and a 32 team double elim sunday. Be ready to play 10am Friday. How well you play Friday determines whether you're in morning or afternoon bracket Saturday.

do the top of the am play the bottom of the pm and visa versa on saturday??

no, top half of Friday AM will play top half of Friday PM on Saturday PM, and bottom halves from Friday will play Saturday AM.

[edited cause i misread this earlier]

What is the plan to determine which 32 will move on? Top 16 from AM and PM of the second day?

Elimination rounds still played to time without a score limit?

For the lulz.

If I'm thinking about this right and the best from the Friday play each other on Saturday and the rest play each other then it might make sense that no one from the bottom half from Friday will make the tournament on Sunday. For the top twenty and bottom twenty or so it'll be great and they'll get the best games for themselves and their Sunday status won't change. For the middle it won't be so good. Do you have a plan so some teams from Friday's bottom half can redeem themselves on Saturday and still make the Tournament on Sunday? Maybe you would consider three sessions on Saturday for the top, middle, and bottom.

That's my concern as well. Reading up on the swiss rounds system it does seem possible though.

As far as I can understand if you come out of the first day with 15 points scored between six games they would end up in the lower bracket for saturday. Another team might score say 25 and enter the winners. The winning team get's skunked and after six games comes out with a total of 30 points, the losers are able to score better playing against teams of their caliber and end up with 39 points they in theory move on to the elimination rounds over the team that did better the first day.

I very well could be making shit up. Acronym might be able to correct me as to the nature of it but this is my understanding.

scoring is based on wins not goals scored. Teams from both brackets on saturday will be given the chance to advance, it just will be much tougher to do it from AM bracket.

Okay, Reading too literally into the scoring part of the explanation. Thanks Jonny, Here's to the afternoon bracket. See you friday.

OK we've placed teams into the morning and afternoon groups. See http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0Autj3tqs5MHTdERjNmRpb1dWUElGMDZ3...

If you're in the morning group you need to be ready to play by 10am. Afternoon group should be ready to play by 2:30pm.

please tell me more about the parties

X2 for realz

Parities will be Thursday night at the High Noon High Noon is a great venue and we have a beer sponsor from Furthermore Beer. Beer will be cheap. Party is free for participants. It is really important that folks show up here on Thursday night as we will have lots of info for players and be giving out info packets.

Saturday Night a party will be hosted by Ale Asylum which is very close to the courts. starts at 8pm and we have free beer tickets for players.

We are still debating a Sunday night party which would be hosted by Just Coffee at their production facility.

Was wondering if there was an address in Madison where i could have a UPS package delivered on Thursday?
