All I am saying about making the double cap mallet the standard is that IMO it will do nothing for the two problems that you discuss in the thread. I understand that bike control along with mallet control are both controversial issues that we need to address in polo. I really have no answer for anyone who is afraid of getting hit with the ball in polo. We are swinging mallets at a ball and sometimes if you are lucky (Or whenever you want if you know what you are doing.) the ball can and will be lifted off of the surface of play. I have found that much like soccer, the surfaces can amplify the effects of ball in the air. So much so, that the polo surface can also be a player when it comes to lifting the ball or shooting fast and hard shots in the air.
However; I am willing to discuss any and all of this on a different thread. Face time, email, or message.
