All my team-mates told me I was crazy.
Readers said it was dangerous, foolish even!
Even I told myself that it was a stupid idea.
And you know what?
We were all right.
Let me make this caveat first: My experience with the Burro Straps has nothing to do with the quality of the strap itself. The product (as with any product I’ve experienced from Burro) is top notch. They felt solid on my foot, and I didn’t need to look in order to know they were just where I needed them.

Yesterday Horse took a few shots for the bikes page and also a few player headshots. He also included a two pictures of Lancaster United’s new polos, so let’s see those, too.

How do you like that for 100% authoritative statements pal?
I was taking my weekly shower out of mason jars and the thought came across to me: what are a few reasons that our darling sport isn’t more well-known? I am aware, of course, that sports in general take a while to get into the public mind (American football began around 1892 and didn’t really become “the greatest game ever played” until 1958)(thanks Wikipedia!). But beyond that, what is going to propel our sport into the next phase of development.

a big ol’ hat tip to Gretchen for taking these outstanding shots from our hot hot hot Mother’s Day Pickup games. Besides getting some great shots, she also got pictures of your humble Crusher, which I truly do appreciate. Enjoy!

If you ignore the obvious problem between the sizing between the red lines and the court itself, this is a pretty interesting picture of what a day of pickup games look like (at least for this polonaught).
I was surprised by the mileage and moving time (we played from noon ’til 3, I think). Keep in mind I play goalie more than anything, so I’m sure that moving time and mileage would be different for a more active player.

A little backstory before we get started: for about two weeks I tried to go clipless for polo, and fell hard so many times that I decided I wouldn’t be one of the cool kids and just stick to my platform pedals. I missed the up-stroke you get from being attached to the bike, but I weighed that against missing the enjoyment of having functioning hips and decided against the eggbeaters.
But then I got bored.
And falling wasn’t nearly as exciting.

I noted that you cats enjoyed the internet memes I posted a while back. Being an unimaginative sod, I decided to tempt you with some gifs! Only 16 or so this time, so be thankful.

In late July of last year, Chandel visited Lancaster United and intimidated me so much that I did a “secret interview” (read: I took notes of how she played and shared it). Since that time I’ve gained a pair and recently asked Chandel to share her thoughts on her own illustrious past, her involvement with the NAH, and the roots of what makes bike polo a great sport:

Ken Regehr of Northern Standard Bike Polo was kind enough to let me interview him about the new Northern Standard Bike Polo Gloves, his experiences in bike polo, and where he sees bike polo equipment going in the future. While Northern Standard is a relatively young company (who isn’t in bike polo), they’ve proven the ability to provide excellent quality products with the polo player in mind.

I’m awful at passing. That’s probably less because of technique and more because I don’t want anyone else to have the ball, ever, for any reason. But occasionally I pull my head out of my own arse and try and make a team based game for everyone to enjoy, and since I tried to do that last night, I came up with a few observations about passing.
