Rik, officially, the registration will be opened on april, on the comming website. But you can send me an e-mail with your team's name and players now if you want. We will choose among the teams registered who will be in (if more than 32 want to come). We will do this on regional basis. Hope to see the best teams here in Lausanne !

Hi everybody ! I'm really really really happy to see how many teams want to play at ROOF TOP ! This is great !
As we have only two courts I must limit the number of teams at 48. By doing this, we will have to start the swiss rounds on Friday, so please plan to arrive in Lausanne on friday afternoon. Teams who allready know they won't be able to do this please let me know.

so 48 teams in Swiss Rolls, you will need to do 6 rounds to do the qulification
48 x 6 = 288 games
how long each game??????
imagine 12 min + 2 for change teams + some mechanical problem + any eventualities
288games x 14min = 4032min
4032min / 60min = 67h of polo aprox
67h / 2 courts = 33h per court saturday and sunday
and this is only the qualification, now the finals...

in the web page you say that the final will be at 17:30h, so until what time can we use tha courts??? do they have lights???

as you are using Swiss Rolls, you can not start the second round until all the games from the frist has happen, so you need all the teams there, you can not start on friday!!!! even if you have some teams there

Don't bite off more than you can chew and Don't spread yourself too thin
courts avaiable for use from 8am to 10pm. If we start on friday at 1pm = friday 9 hours + saturday 14 hours = 23 hours
4 groups of 12 teams
10 minutes games. 5 minutes between each game. 6 SR per group.
1 SR = 6 x 10 minutes + 5x 5 minutes = 60 + 25 = 85 minutes (say 90 minutes)
6 SR = 6 x 90 = 540 = 9 hours
4 groups = 4 X 9 = 36 hours
As we have 2 courts we need 18 hours to do the SR for 4 groups.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I do my best.
I really think you should cap it at 40 teams
4 groups for 10, and make games longer than 10min
I understand your point Rik. But it's hard to say : "Sorry, you can't come because we want to play 12 minutes more than if you come."
And, if nobody can come to Lausanne on friday morning, it's clear that 48 teams is impossible to manage.
I think also that the guys who registered after n°32 will be happy to play 10 minutes games rather than not playing at all.
So please Rik, be a little patient and indulgent, it's hard to make everybody happy.

so what happen that is 60 teams want to came, you will say yes to the 60 teams??????
most of the tourneys are capped, no one mind, if you are not quick you dont get to go.... no big deal!!

Rik, I'm fed up with your harsh critics that make me look stupid. We don't know each other well enough to have discussions on this level of agressivity. So if you want to help, you're welcome, but please be carefull to the way you express your advices.
You're right, it's hard to make everyone happy. Better to try make most people (those who register on time) very happy, by having decently long games, and a less stressful schedule. Plus you'll be happier and more relaxed as an organizer.
you should be the one thinking on that frase: "it's hard to make everybody happy", because it is you the one who want to make everybody happy... you can not!!!

you are basing your calculation on having 24 teams on friday, this was not say when registration open, if you dont have them, things wont work
it is your first tourney, dont complicate yourself
you can 48 teams in 5 swiss rounds rounds if you use accelerated pairings.
But even with lights, i agree that you should cap it at 40 teams if you only have two courts.

Um, because lights allow you to play longer?
We ran a 20 team tournament in Toronto, with lights, on one court. But it was really maxed out. Without lights, 16 teams per court for two days is fine. With lights, 20. But 24 is stretching it, unless you a) have short games b) want everyone to be really tired, especially your organizers, c) don't care about going out to party after, or finishing late at night sunday.
