I do remember walking through the brush, drunk , with no flashlight, stumbling into tents only to be offered more booze and what-not…good times.

Could someone please post the URL for the podium results site? I don't see it on the results page and am tired of blind alleys. Thanks!

Is there a live video feed from any of the courts like at Chicago Bench?
Podium, if you could keep live score on the game playing with the video feed it would make it much better.
max is cracking me up during the L'Esplosif V. 818 Street Soldiers game. 5-1?!? OOOSH!

Got some questions to Seattle or podium stuff:
How can some teams be in front of other with this scores.
Iron ponies is 3 w 2t 0l
L equipe is 3 w 1 t 1 l ... How can they be in front of ponies?
maybe I shouldn't respond... but it looks like the site changes quite frequently. ponies and lequipe are in the same place in different brackets now.
They were merged into a big group by taking teams 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, etc from the 3 sessions, not by comparing records. now that they are all in one big group though, it continues like normal...
Could someone mout the Ustream camera high up left corner on that tall fence there? Couple of zip ties and a little duct tape... The 65 of us watching would greatly appreciate it! Though we might miss Max's colorful commentary
yeah portland united! yeah boston celtics! glad to see you among the top teams, where you belong.
Great 2 days of Swiss round. Amazing games to watch. Thanks for this Seattle. Can't sleep!
Someone give Machine a prize for his supreme shoutcasting abilities on the webcam.

Something is rattling on the camera. If you read this and you are near the camera please figure out what is rattling and tighten it up.
Can someone tell MAchine to conduct some post game interviews with players? We have 121 people watching worldwide, would make for amazing coverage to hear some in game perspectives.
Great idea. I could listen to Machine all day long-great job brother! (future ESPN Monday Night Polo color commentator)
Is Do filming these games? I have only been able to catch one here and there & would really like to sit down & watch them all later.
Way to go Milwaukee!-caught the stream on break.
anyone have Machine's phone number???
Worst ending ever.. people worked hard.
30min cap.. pff.
Finals should be excused of pitty rules like this. I understand you want to give people some rest, but you're not going to a tourney to have easy games. You go to give it your all. && that kind of ending does no justice.

agreed. finals should be won by goals, not time.
this was published on the whbpc website months ago.
if finals are not timed, they can finish in the dark. or cleanup can happen in the dark. organizers need time limits. many players prefer time limits.
I dig all that. I really really do.
but for a game like this to be won the way it was, as a spectator (which seems to be what people are trying to accomplish these days) was, to but it bluntly, bullshit. for both teams.
That said i said this based on the ustream video. it was confusing as to what happened, but based on other videos i've since watched it was a good game, and a solid goal made at the end. the game was, in short, won by goals, and not by time. I just feel like an event of this magnitude requires lights to make sure that matches like that are able to be played to the fullest potential. but thats my input, which doesn't much matter. i do things the way i like, and other do it their way.
that said, from the looks seattle did fantastic, the games were great, and i question nothing.
Look, the sun was going down. That brought up two issues. 1. We were going to lose light if we didn't time games and 2. The sun was so low in the sky one team was staring right at it and had a disadvantage. The best way we could think to make it fair for everyone was to time the games (20 min) and have the teams switch sides roughly half-way through (when there was a lull in play). We did a coin flip at the beginning of the game and the team that won decided if they wanted to start the game or (potentially) end the game staring into the sun.
Thanks Seattle. Thanks teammates (David, thanks for stepping in at the last minute).
Congrats East Van. I'm so proud of you!

I agree that it was a bummer to have to make that final timed. In some ways, it doesn't do justice to what all the players worked for.
On the other hand, running an untimed game that might have been run on until it was too dark to play would have also not done the tournament justice. It was a difficult decision to go to a timed game when we realized it had happened. But I talked to both teams and they agreed to it. If it wasn't for the diminishing daylight, it would have been untimed. Unfortunately, we ended up going later than we thought we would and weren't prepared with lights.
After organizing this tournament, I've realized that no matter how much you try to stay on time, you rarely will--it happens at every tournament. We even started exactly on time on Sunday (games were on the court being played at 10:02 am--I checked my watch). In any case, we should have had lights there and ready.
With all that said, though, it was a pretty epic final game. Both teams battled back and forth for twenty minutes (that really stretched on for closer to 30 or 40 with timeouts). It was tied at time. Rory's final shot after the second joust was just ridiculously awesome. I'm sorry, but best GWG ever.
Thanks everyone for all your support this weekend.

Ya bad ending. I thought all final games were not timed. But I'm an East Van fan, so AMAZING CANUCKS! You are champions. Call Me Daddy stellar playing!
Besides that, fucking awesome live stream action for all of us not able to be there. OMG! So amazing. 543 people online watching at my last count. We are so lucky we were able to watch from our homes around the world. Thank you Seattle 206! I missed being there and loved hearing familiar voices near the camera.
Machine and Wheatie you two made the world championships of all on on-liners. Incredible and hilarious commentary. Highlights include: time zone update, tea bagging, phenomenal athletes, lefty-on-lefty, no scandals and all the rest. Big hugs!

Very true. && dick slicing!
Podium and ustream made me almost feel like I was there. It was a lot of fun to watch and listen to with the crowd so into it. Thanks Machine!
Sad to see Greg's goal taken away. That was fuckin' hot and he deserved it. Really a shame!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
fixcraft.net
greg heard the whistle when he was way up court, figured time was up, but he took the shot anyway in case it was meant for other reasons (whistles got blown this weekend a couple times just to get a player's attention, but not to stop play).
Agreed. The goal wasn't "taken away." It never happened. And by the way, the one dude (you know who you are) who yelled at me that there was a huge conspiracy and that I was behind it and that I would do anything to see my friends win including cheating during time keeping at the World's can fuck right off. I have to much love for this game to do something like that. Talk to the president who was sitting right beside me. Talk to Meg. Talk to Kev. There were at least a dozen others who had plain view of the clock and can vouch that the time was up, properly counted down and the whistle was blown. Call Me Daddy KILLED it out there. But they lost fair and square.
Okay catfish, I'm going to move my mouth like this...
To back Martin up on this, we set up a double ref system for the final games, so nothing could be missed or neglected. Not only was Martin a great ref. But the entire ref and timing team up on the platform did their jobs. Thank you to them, and to everyone else who stepped up to help time and ref in those final intense games. The real issue was that the crowd was just so loud the refs couldn't be heard even with megaphones and a voice as loud as Martin's is.
I was never doubting the fairness, I'm sure it was legitimate and whistled correctly. It was just a little heartbreaking to watch, you know.

In the video, i was very impressed with the grace greg acknowledged the call.
keeping it classy.
x2 on the uStream and Podium. i spent almost 9 hours straight just staring at a computer screen. definitely more fun than watching a good spreadsheet and twitter feed like last year.
many many thanks to Machine for his commentary. the video had lots of lag at times and having an announcer made it more like radio- and i'm not complaining!
congrats to East Van and all of Cascadia!

amazing weekend, Seattle killed it in every way putting together this event, thank you all so very much.
i wish i could have stayed in seattle longer. see half of you this week in vancouver!
The video had some lag but the picture was really good. Also the mic picked up really well. What kind of camera was that? Not mounting it on a wall that people beat on might have helped it stream smoother. Despite any problem with it, having the video feed was great for all of us at home. Thank you for everyone that made that happen. Being behind the goal, we had such a great view of the goalies and they were so stylish about being goalie that it made me really want to work on my skills.
The webcam is a HP - HD-3110 currently on sale at Best Buy. It is corded and needs a computer near by (which is why we couldn't put it on top of the fence). I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. Sorry for the interruptions in streaming. We lost power and internet a few times. I think Machine really should get paid for commentating. He's incredible.
hah. I tried to comment when I could but the craziness of so many people around was enough to keep me from being an official. but there you go, dan and duncan, glad you enjoyed it. good job canucks, especially after call me daddy tore you guys an open one on saturday with a 5-2 win, then you guys came back to win that baby on sunday. way to go. congrats to everyone else who competed, seattle bike polo is truly the most unique scene I've ever seen. I am going to cal andersen now but if I wasn't so bad at physical labor i'd be helping at the courts...you can heckle me about this later... anyways, props to these people
1) scooter - the best teammate
2) chris - my other teammate aka jagwolves' third... showing us your skills continually had me in awe, maybe you should be here in seattle and the sky's the limit... oh you're going to portland, well, see you around .edit. plus I won't be trying to squeeze up the boards against you any time...ever...
3) woadie - keeping the talk real
4) alexis - team doobie on weds or thursday made me really happy to know you.
5) birdseye - you made those refs sharp as hell dude, way to go
6) rowdy - you are one of a kind, sense of humor, organizational skills, etc.
7) leslie - standing next to you during finals was an honor, glad to be here in seattle with you, next year I'll put on 15 lbs, help with manual labor AND be a facilitator of communications (I do have a college degree in that afterall)
8) duncan - texting me and supporting us, thanks so much
9) clement and greg, playing pickup with you guys a week or two before worlds and then seeing you with your teams gave me a great amount of respect for you two.
10) my last shout out goes to everyone else, austin (rob, jaz, amber, miguel, israel, everyone else...) for being so freaking ossm and repping south central hard (there were so few south central players), charlie for showing up out of the blue and being such a cool guy, cherri, maija, birdie, ace, ringer, pete COMO, drew kinney (I changed my mind, I think we can be friends.) addison, tony, MAHK DAVIS, Viv, Raggy, Ernie, Tony, and way too many more to thank.
give it up for everyone from kelsey to jesse french, the core seattle group that dived into this business almost a year ago without knowing how it was gonna turn out. it turned out great.
truly the most unique scene I've ever seen.
that almost didn't pass the alliteration filter
Nothing like firing up the Ustream and hearing old buddies describing the action from 1500 miles away.
thank you seattle. truly the best tournament i have ever been in. gotta love the lightning rounds! you truly executed a flawless tourney in my book.
also, thank you portland for all the love! sunday was the most amazing day of polo i have ever played and you guys were with me the whole time.
thank you seattle. truly the best tournament i have ever been in

Congrats Canucks for being so amazing, I love you guys, and congrats to all the other teams for playing the best polo I have ever seen. Ever.
It was so great to meet and play against such fantastic people from so many different places, I'm stoked that I get to see so many of you again at soon at the crown.
Thanks to Kiersten and Pierre, my teammates for being the awesome people that you are, it was tons of fun playing with you, and thanks to the lake for being the best thing to ever happen to a polo tournament. From now on all tournaments have to be held next to a lake, there just isn't any other way to do it.

Gotta love our chosen sport. Effing great show put on by organisers , volunteers, family , friends, sponsors, security(shotgun tommy), refs, goal judges , time keepers, doggies, slayers, players ,Seattle and the Poloverse. Love hanging with each and every one of you.

Machine, I'm sure you heard this a lot, but your commentating during the stream of the games was fantastic.
Thanks bobbyfeldman , I really appreciate you and anyone else who commented.I think it was Kiersten (and Seattle) that made the live stream happen though. It was only the people listening on ustream that could hear the commentary unless you were standing right beside us , so for me as long as one person who couldn't make it to the WORLDS was watching and listening enjoyed it, it was worth it. I thought Wheatie was a great addition too. We had such a blast doin it together and interviewing peeps and talking shite and singing. Slay on Bro.

Dear Seattle,
I had a pretty great time.
The blackberries were perfect.
These are the things which you are currently in possession of which I would like back at some point in the future:
1. my mauve bern helmet
2. my 661 knee/shin pads
3. my teammates.
love,
erica
Way to use the word mauve. We've got a decently sized Lost and found at le Mansion. I'll check into it for you.
Sadly I don't make enough money to post those two boys back to you, we might have to keep them for a bit.
