Will Chicago play as an all-Chicago team?

Will Millwaukee finally do it?

Will we see teams from Ohio this time?

More details to come.

so many question, there will be only one winner.

you can't do that weekend, it will be without me or kevin.

I thought I asked youse guys about this... Did I take the wrong info? We could do it the 1st weekend of November, too. But let us know before we go handing out flyers this weekend.

Any other objections to / conflicts with the date?

OK the date is changed. We're bringing some flyers this weekend to hand out to the Mid Westerners who are there.

Like BIMWBPC's of years past, this will be a low-key, yay us, community-type thang. Low entry fees, food all day, few sponsors/prizes. Drive down Friday, stay with/make new friends, play all day Saturday, drive back Sunday.

Dayton will be there. Even after we got our asses handed to us in Chicago, over and over and over and over.

There will definitely be some folks from Lex there. Probably not as many as we had in Chicago (an aligning of planets sort of thing), but we will be represented in some fashion.

And a Schlafly and Kaldis and Imo's sponsorship.

Make it happen, STL.

I want people to LIKE St Louis, so no Imo's. I am going to ask the folks at Gus' Pretzels about making a batch of veggie dogs in pretzels. We're actually working on Schlafly's. As to kaldis, team JC from Madison will probably bring down a coupla bags of coffee for prizes.

The Fucking Bike Club is looking into a Halloween party ride for Friday night. Any other suggestions?

How about this? For every team that comes from your town, bring a "local thing". A sixer of the local brew, a bag of the local grind, a box of the local donuts, whatever you like that is being produced in your town. We'll put it in a grab bag/grab ice chest and redistribute at the afterparty.

And Lexington will bring me a spack of ale-8-ones. Or they will be sent back for it.

OK. More schedule wierdness:

It has been brought to my attention that the day after Halloween is Hang-over-ween. Y'all may not want to miss great local parties Friday night or play competitive sports early the next morning.

There are also the usual potential issues with a fall tournament: Weather, short days, park district/police interference...

I have a solution: If y'all don't mind taking Monday off work, we can do this thing indoors at the St Louis Skatium. We can rent out the whole place, drink/eat anything we bring in private, play on a regulation roller hockey rink with a scoreboard. The only available time for that weekend is Sunday, November 2nd, from 2pm to 10pm (right after the roller girls practice).

Whaddya say? Too much of an imposition to move the schedule yet again? Yeah, that sounds cool?

i'm for saturday. don't think i'm ready for an indoor polo tournament.

the dark end (aka Bobb Todd, Marzipan, B.R. Fuck Face)

Indoor would be pretty radical I think but this time slot is not so ideal. Class and work that monday would be impossible to miss.

If the students can handle it, I'm for indoor rink action.

chicagobikepolo.com

I'm for worrying less about rain and light and cops. But I agree that the 2-10 time slot is a pisser. Too late to start a 6 hour drive back to wherever.

But if the tourney starts early Saturday, you will be driving on a Friday-night Halloween. You will miss parties.

Until I get a majority of opinion from y'all and my local boys, I'm working both angles. The sooner we can come to a consensus on this, the sooner my headaches end.

I'm actually most excited about having a scoreboard. 10 minute countdown and a buzzer!

Chicago Bike Polo 2003-2008
St Louis Bike Polo 2008-now

whats this scoreboard and buzzer you talk of? and how can we get one (cheap)?? was just looking at prices and ohhhh boy them not polo prices.

push it back a week, or we could host it here in madison where we dont take the day after halooweenn off

I heard somewhere that Madison had the nuttiest Halloween party in the country.
Wouldn't that just make our hangovers worse?

yeah but the halloween party would be on saturday after the polo tournament. Plus it is lame now, they make you buy tickets and they secure the street like it was a war zone. Not like the old days.

Anyway, i have to be back to madison on sunday, can't do monday off from school and work and everything else.

That's 3 for Saturday, 1 for Sunday. Let's hear from Lexington, Dayton, Minneapolis, Cleveland, etc...

Chicago Bike Polo 2003-2008
St Louis Bike Polo 2008-now

I have to admit, I didn't really give the Nov. 1st date much thought until after I had returned from Chicago and realized that Halloween is a pretty big deal around here and there's always a big Halloween alleycat and a bunch of other parties and crap going down. Not to mention it's also my wife's birthday.

My main concern with the Sunday date though, is that less people will be able to make it due to work and/or school on Monday. Not sure if this option is on the table or not, but I have to side with Ben... a delayed date seems like it might be something to consider.

{}------- lexington -------{}

{}------- lexington -------{}

I'm alright with majoritys choice.

I had to drop out of school so my schedules wide the fuck open.

I'll talk to the guys up here see how they feel.

Saturday: Start at 7:30am. Polo till noon. Siesta till 3pm. Polo till dark. Then beer till morning. Break the Fast. Shit. Drive home. OK?

i vote for indoor hockey rink action on sunday.

I agree with Chris and think indoor would be fun (albeit slippery and wacky- aren't those roller rinks waxed?), but generally Columbia doesn't care. We're two hours away, so it's no big deal either way.
Oh, and Lucky/STL: if you need help setting stuff up or organizing or whatever, I can drive into STL early. Just send me a message or whatever.

It wasn't just Jonny and ben who couldn't come on the 25th. I think Lexington had a conflict, too.

Pushing it back a week or two just exacerbates the weather/daylight issues. The indoor rink in booked every Saturday into December, and any given Sunday we'd be stuck with the same 2-10 schedule on account of weekly roller derby practice.

hey doug wanna join me and joe and win another midwest?

no dice nyc...MKE!

1. Play with people from your own damn town.
2. I'm 90% sure that we are going to run this thing as planned on Saturday, November 1st. I apologize if Halloween is really important to you and now you're going to spend it on the Highway instead of at a party with corseted zombie women. If it's any consolation, there will be parties here and several of our best players plan on sweating out hangovers in the round robin.
3. Gimme some rough RSVPs to plan food/drink around. How many teams from which cities?

St Louis: 2-3 teams.

Chicago Bike Polo 2003-2008
St Louis Bike Polo 2008-now

since when do you have to play with people from your own town? I have never seen a rule about that before, i guess it is up too you to make all the rules though.

You do not HAVE to play only with people from your home town. I encourage it, but could not and would not enforce any such rule.

It aggravates me a little that cities with consistently 12-20 players would want to bring in a ringer as opposed to letting a deserving/willing local move up to a traveling team. Madison and Milwaukee especially have deep talent in their clubs, start encouraging some folk by including them in these tournaments.

Saul: The scoreboard is part of the indoor rink that we would've played on if we were running the tournament on Sunday. It's not something our club or the St Louis Park District has.

Chicago Bike Polo 2003-2008
St Louis Bike Polo 2008-now

i think about this alot with teams vs cities. but i think in the end we are all representing teams and not cities, but its just easier to play with people in out towns. kev and me and jonny arnt really in the same city but we will play together as much as possible. i think for the sake of the game we should make better teams to play in tournys not better friends or less hurt feelings or broad swaths of mediocer players. we need fierce and competative high level play, and the citys or towns should work on producing that talent pool, and playing on good teams helps that along. also chicago having doug as a ringer last year totally improved thier game where as they arnt looked at as total hacks anymore ( except in thier ability to call a goal)

also lucky there are either rules or not rules, and if you want to host this tourny dont encourage things enforce them or leave your opinions aside i have to much presurre in my life as it is to try live rightously acccourding to the dont be a dick rule let alone the do the right thing rule., and i think i still owe you 7 dollars

"...there are either rules or not rules, and if you want to host this tourny dont encourage things enforce them or leave your opinions aside..."

Fair enough. Play with whomever you think you will do best with. I have no power to enforce a "local's only" team structure.

Ben, Leif and I were planning to play in this tournament but have decided to withdrawal our team. At this point i do not see any other individuals or teams from Madison participating in the tournament.

Chicago had yet to blossom into it's quasi-hack stage.

Columbia will have at least two, at most three.

Cool. Thanks for the approximates, it helps in the food and housing planning. How about Minneapolis, Lexington, Dayton, Cleveland, Ann Arbor, and any others?

I got some more crap from the locals this weekend about making them work the day after Halloween. Is there any team from any other city that won't or can't come because of the date? It's possible to move the tournament, but it gets harder and harder with every passing day.

I think Dayton will only have one team, if that. I will be there and will try to pry some of the crew to accompany me. Dayton sucks.

I am putting a proposal on the table to move the tournament back to Saturday, October 25. The original date. If Madison won't be coming anyway, this would solve the Halloween conflict.

PLEASE VOTE!

1. Knock it off already, I was planing for Nov 1st. It's fine. Nuts to Halloween.
2. This is much better, we can bring more teams now, thanks. Oct 25
3. Oh for fuck's sake, just pick a date and stick with it. I have a life outside of polo.

Halloween is my favorite holiday of all time. My birthday is around then and as a result Halloween holds an almost religious significance for me. My first costume was Luke Skywalker and my kindergarten friend Brice dressed up as Darth Vader. I remember we took pictures in my front yard with our lightsabers and the dog.......

Fuck Halloween. I'd like to order a #1, please with extra #1. Even though the truth is that I might be able to make it work for the 25th, and am not personally bothered by the change in the slightest, this is more a vote for folks here who already asked off for NOVEMBER 1st and won't be able to reschedule. Hopefully we'll be hearing from them soon.

If everyone who is supporting the 25th can actually still make the 1st, please consider those for whom it's a deal breaker before you vote. Thanks.

chicagobikepolo.com

It's #1 or nothing for me. Had the postcard said the 25th then I'd be able to make it the 25th. I think when you printed the date on a postcard, and a very handsome postcard it is, all your 6-8 regulars voted #1.

#1

The polls are closed. I have tallied the votes and ignored them entirely. The tournament will be Saturday, November 1st, just like it said on the flyers we handed out at the NACCC, just like the date I told the park district and the owner of the afterparty space.

Forgive my wishy-washy-ness. I'm not usually so concerned about the opinions of others, but my autocratic nature has gotten me into more trouble than I'm used to lately. Efforts are underway to make this a cheap to attend, fun to play in regional tournament. We're really excited about this year finally becoming a little more representative of the Midwest conference as a whole. IE having teams there from more than just MAD, MKE, and CHI.

We're shooting for 10am. Hopefully we'll have 12-16 teams and we'll each play a lot of games before it gets too dark. About 6pm that time of year.

i assume you will have a grand supply of head waiting for us....

SCHEDULE (subject to change):

Friday.
Whenever: Get into town, meet your hosts, unload the car, get on a bike, maybe in costume. There are lots of parties happening around town. Your host will have your player's packet. Map, spokecard, etc.

Saturday.
Whenever before 10am. Wake up, fuel up. With your host, on your own, maybe courtside pancakes. We haven't figured that out yet.

10am. Meet at Lindenwood Park. Register, determine the groups, go over the format/rules, and start playing. If we don't start by 11am, you may kick me in the shins one time.

Somewhere around 1-2pm. Return to Lindenwood park with your group results. Lunch courtside. Select one representative from your city to attend a brief meeting with the following agenda: To hear bids for a 6th Mid West Champeenships host city. To vote on whether the tournament should stay Bi-Annual or become once-a-year. To hear about the things that are being done on our behalf to make polo bigger and better (The International Hardcourt Bike Polo Federation).

3pm. Start the single elimination tournament at The Lindenwood Park Roller Hockey Rink. We will have a generator and some flood lights if it goes past sundown.

6-7pm till 10pm. Awards and afterparty at Friendlies Bar. We will provide food, if you don't like it, they have a kitchen. PBR will be on special for us 1.50 drafts. They have other beer/booze too.

10pm-on. I'll be in bed, but I hear that there will be more halloween-style party shenanigans around town.

Sunday.
Whenever am. Get off my couch.

FORMAT (not subject to change):
Teams will be split up into competitive groups by their own estimation of skill and/or by previous tournament records. Preference will go to an even distribution of cities within groups.

Each group of 4-6 teams will play a round robin. Your round robin record will determine your place in the single elimination bracket that follows. So: The best ranked team from the groups will play its first playoff game against the worst ranked team from another group. This format tries to ensure that: 1. You will play the most games you can against teams you haven't met before. 2. The really competitive games are saved for the last few rounds of play, when they count for something.

Round robin games will be 10 minutes or first to 5 points. Playoff games up to the quarterfinals will be 12 minutes or first to 5. Semifinal games will be 15 minutes or first to 5. The final match will be untimed, first to 5. If the game goes to 15 minutes, there will be a 5 minute break. The game will re-start (ball at half court, 3-2-1-go) and play another 15 minutes. Another 5 min break, another 15 mins of play, you get the idea.

By way of sponsorship, A and M Cycles of St Louis has agreed to provide to the tournament a USCF certified race mechanic with repair stand, truing stand, tools, and some spare parts (wheels, drivetrain components) for the whole day. About the best sponsorship/amenity I can think of. Big thanks to them.

Need I remind you that this is how the 4th Mid Wests in Madison were structured? Drive in Friday night, play then party on Saturday, drive home Sunday. Do it in a weekend, miss no work.

The thinking was that this will be a long drive for a lot of participants. 5-6 hours from Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, Dayton, Lexington. Longer from Cleveland and Minneapolis. Milwaukee, Dayton, Jas, Chicago, you are housed. Lexington, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Ann Arbor, let me know if, when, how many, and if any of you are allergic to cats or dogs.

The Friday night party situation is working itself out. I can't say yet which of the many house parties most of the locals are going to be at, but I'm assured that once they find a good 'un, they're staying for the night. We'll get that address to you as soon as we have it.

My team had "scheduling conflicts" and can not make the trip with me.
My wife and kids bailed as well and (without a team or family) I don't want to make the 6 hour drive to St. Louis alone.
I could also use the weekend to be more prepared for a trial scheduled on Wednesday the 5th (I am a lawyer in the real world).

Dayton sucks. I suck.
Lee

Unacceptable! This is the 5th fucking running of this tournament, and the 5th time we have tried to throw out the net to drag in the entire Mid West Conference. If you ain't coming, you have to find another Ohio team to take your place.

Also, Dayton needs to host the 6th Mid Wests, but tradition dictates that only a team in attendance at the tourney can submit a bid to host the next one.

And finally, I wouldn't say too loudly that yer a lawyer around here. Montana may try to wrangle you into incorporating his next bowel movement.

Chicago A-team wins. Congrats to Ben, Joe, and Matt who beat Milwaukee A Jake, Joe, and Matt in the final game of a single elimination tournament which followed group play on two courts on a beautiful 70 degree fall day in St Louis, MO.

10 teams from 4 cities participated in a hell of a fun day of polo. Food was eaten, drinks were drank, polo was played for the tourney and in many pick-up games throughout the day. Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen, sponsors, players, and organizers.

I was getting a little down on myself a few days ago when teams started to drop out [/me shakes fist at Ohio] but at some point I actually took my own advice to Bainsworth from another thread here on .ca. "...pick a day, advertise, and have fun playing polo with the people who make it out." Thanks to those who could fit this weekend into their schedules, I'll see the rest of you some other time. Oh, yeah. We collectively decided that the Mid West Bike Polo Champeenships will go from bi-Annual to once-a-year in the spring. On account of all the tournaments available to participate in these days.

We also decided that Dayton will host the 6th Mid Wests, during a weekend in May, whether they want to or not. If Ohio won't participate in a Mid West Conference, we'll bring the conference to you.

well i personally disagree with that, i think, and i know my opinion doesn't matter for much, but i think chicago should host a great lakes classic the same weekend, that way new york and Ontario could come.

The loose consensus was that there should continue to be a dedicated regional Mid West Champeenships once a year. To continue the tradition and to set us up as a qualifying venue for the larger national and international tourneys, should that become the way it gets done.

As a conference, we should also try to put together an invitational tournament in place of the 2nd bi annual. A Great Lakes Classic sounds like a good fit for that. I think Detroit in more or less in the middle of the great lakes region. Maybe Toronto. But that's an idea for another thread.

Ben, I like your idea. I'll see you at the Great Lakes Classic.

Congrats homies, i'll see yas when you get back. But fuck the five of you for disabling my sunday afternoon play. I'll get my engraver from home to put shitcago down on the troph. Bring back some Nelly and the St. Lounatics.

Is there a location that is more central to the Midwesterner teams that could be thrown in as an option for future events? Not that I think anything needs to be in the same place, because I like the idea of different cities hosting different events... I'm just sayin'.

I'll go ahead and throw Lexington out there as a new option for a polo event. We roughly have the same amount of space for play as we did in Chicago for NACCC (two sections of double tennis courts), but of course, not quite as nice.

Indianapolis, Indiana. Only Minneapolis would have more than a 6 hour drive. For most (MKE, CHI, STL, DAY, CLE) it would be a 3-4 hour drive. But they don't play polo there. I don't even know if they have an "urban bike culture" scene there that we could goad into playing.

Anyone know anyone in Indy?

Sounds like you never been there.

Nobody that has ever been to Indianapolis would call it urban. I dont think anyone IN Indianapolis even knows what that word means.

Congrats to Chicago A-Team.

did anyone take photos?

jonny,
there's a few photos in our facebook group (assuming you have a facebook).
Do a search for "comopolo" and you'll find it.

hey thanks to everyone for your hospitality. the room of pizza, the beer runs, the directions, the chili, the accommodations, the stl tonyx2 and their collective efforts, the posters rachel and i lost, all of it.

thanks, mkec - team fuck yeah!

Congratulations Ben, Joe, and Matt.

I think that we are seeing the Midwesterns become less and less relevant. Regional tournaments don't have the same pull as say an invite or a broader championship. I'm not sure i would travel 7 hours to dayton ohio if the same field showed up that did in St. Louis. It makes sense to broaden our appeal to get more competition and participation from other cities. I really think that having a great lakes invitational would be a lot of fun and draw in a larger group.

Nice job guys, I knew Chicago had it in 'em. Ben, after all that shit you talked about retiring from playing polo and just being a promoter? You couldn't pull off the Don King haircut anyways. Sorry Philly wasn't there to see it.

if the man can pull off a bi-hawk he can surely pull off the electro-shock!

Thanks to all of St. Louis! Lucky, Trent, Drew, Chris, Lee, Nick, Cole (my apologies if I forgot others). The best part? The City Museum. I'll post a picture in the next comment.

What a refreshing tournament! No big prizes, no bullshit, just friends and polo.

As far as the relevance of the Midwests, the consensus was that a Midwest invite or open is the way to go. A Midwest-specific tourney will be beneficial if/when we need regional tourneys to be held as qualifiers for North American/ World Championships.

Here's to Dayton, the hosts of the first Midwest Great Lakes Polo Classic Invite Open Champeenships.

This is just the outside of the City Museum

11-02-08_1217

The inside had a running park with rope swings, more tunnels and nets, and a SEVEN-STORY slide. There are virtually no signs ANYWHERE telling you where to go and how to behave. We ran, climbed, jumped, and screamed our way around the whole damn place. The City Museum Staff was simultaneously amused and horrified. I haven't run around like that since I was ten. How small children aren't seriously injured there on a regular basis is beyond me.

chicagobikepolo.com

CITY MUSEUM IS THE SHIZZZNIT! we had what like 12 polo players from mke/chi/stl/bmore running around that place like madmen (or crazy little kids). we talked more about the museum on the ride home than we did the tourney.

7story slide made me scream at first for fun then for real once you start going so fast its hard not to scream

p.s that chick in the obama shirt who worked there wanted us bad

no dice nyc...MKE!

do you really think our (egocentric) worlds and NA champs will require qualifiers? in like ten years maybe.

Actually, I'm not finished. This much is true:

1. Qualifiers could make perfect sense in a context where there are too many teams for a reasonably
manageable two-day tournament. I'm not the only person that sees this as being a possible reality in far
less than ten years. If you want me to list the reasons and contexts I'd be happy to, but I'll let you
think on it for a minute.

2. Our (egocentric) Worlds will be nothing of the sort. Making this an inclusive process is a high-priority
concern with the people, like Montana for example, involved in organising. Shouldering the responsibility
to undertake and oversee the proper organisation of this endeavor will involve missteps and
misunderstandings. Progress always does. But working toward this end is better than just tossing critical
grenades from the sidelines. Kev, who I spoke to today, said that as much as the initial European
impression was negative, feelings have become much more optimistic as of late. In fact, apparently within
the European polo community there have been mixed signals, so it's not just us. We'll get there as long as
people remain constructive. Let's hear some ideas.

congrats on you win too, i hope you plan on coming to the NYC. and your right i was exaggerating when i said ten years, my hope right now is that the game is still around in ten years. I have been overly negative towards the midwest's for several reasons, some stupid and some valid. one i cant afford to drive 6 hours and pay all that gas to get to st louis. (ok thats a joke) but its hard for me to justify, and here im gonna come off as a dick, going to st louis to play against you and Milwaukee's teams. it would be interesting to play against some of those newer teams in the southern midwest, but im looking super competitive games when it comes to tourneys. thats me being honest, i want to see a deeper pool of talent. so maybe in a couple of years these cities will be putting up top teams but for now im glad i went to paris.

but if those teams want to come to the "worlds" or the norths well then fuck if ill be part of any movement to limit them from coming.

and as far as the north americans being egotistical, i think we all need to ask ourselves why we are hosting two major tourneys in the u.s.a called N.A. champs and world champs, ill be at both i think, as well as the europeans as long as my team can make it, but i think its premature for us to have a worlds before the game is super developed world wide.

i like what londons doing with their league, 12 or 13 teams, thats hot, and its regular and i see that being how we spread this game. set up city leauges, and soon, start volunteering to teach it at High Schools as a sport / PE class.

also the thing that has made europe more optimistic has been haveing North american players and teams go over and play with them. as you all know im a dit on the webs, a dick on the court, but in person im kinda ok

whatever

both polly and i are teachers here in east van. we have brought it to the young at our respective schools. the game is growing with the youth...

TOP CENTER 4-EVA

Okay catfish, I'm going to move my mouth like this...

thats great. i really want to say this, my thoughts are constantly changing, i may come off super strongly at one point, but good ideas do change change my mind, as long as they dont come from drunk refs. ben ill forgive you if you come to the NYC and nock ottawa out of the tourny. ohhhh and i dont use drugs or know what kind is or cronic, but i do know what big bud is and as well as ohhhhh geeee cush and ottawwa if you come here i will fuck you up, but youll like it alot. just like i did to kremin. robie, if your butt hurts when your in madison you can use my cream again

Your logic is a bit warped. You say that you don't want to play in the Mid-Wests because the talent isn't there, yet you fly 10 hours to play in a tournament in Europe, where the game is relatively new. Explain.

I also agree with your last statement. You are a dit on the internet, and a dick on the court, but gosh darnet you are a good person otherwise.

first the talent in europe is great, and its not that the talent isnt at the midwests, it is, we lost that tourny last time we played, its just the teams to play are chicago and milwaukee ( thats my personal preference and how do i know if i wasnt there yadda yadda yadda) and i can play them pretty regularly, chicago is close and milwaukee is closer.

oh and if you had the option would you rather play pretty good polo in st louis, or pretty good polo in paris

let me know im interested.

maybe i should be trying to suport the game in the south more, but i think its important for us to travel to URP right now and develop that game, especially if we are going to host a WORLD's tourney.

your a dick on the court too, but i like dicks. fuck brian from ottawa may be the only top notch player i know thats not a dick on the court.

brian told me after our game at naccc's "you're a gentleman out there" . . .
yeah i know your reply wasn't meant for me

I would love to play in Paris, or anywhere in Europe for that matter.

oh please ben...i know a lot of top notch players who aren't dicks on the court. that's a totally ridiculous comment...

TOP CENTER 4-EVA

Okay catfish, I'm going to move my mouth like this...

like who, and yes it is a ridiculous point, but hyperbole is a way of life

i honestly don't think i'm a dick on the court. i play physical and hard and aside from one takeout on drew at the naccc's i can't remember deliberately being a dick to anyone - you included. leon is a standup guy on and off the court - i have mad respect for him. messmann ditto. ben chicago is one of the cleanest players and nicest guys i've met. mark and montana from philly were nothing but awesome to play against. i could go on and on.

TOP CENTER 4-EVA

Okay catfish, I'm going to move my mouth like this...

marks a dick on the court, you just admitted that youve been a dick, wich makes you a dick (even though i think you real sweet. Ive never been deliberately a dick either, it just comes off that way. but who doesnt love a dick once and a while huh? i know i do, as for all the others, if brians always a gentleman then im sure that others maybe possible to exibite the same persona on the court, but brians the top player ive seen that doesnt ever act like a dick

You stink at replying to the correct posts.

Anyone who thinks I be a dick out there, please e-mail me with all the reasons, and I will try to correct them. It's going to be hard though, because I don't consider myself "a dick".

ben and mark-
you two are wayyy off this thread topic and for two people who werent even there your acting silly

no dice nyc...MKE!

I was thinking about creating a thread where people can ask for a translation of ben's posts...maybe I should have done that, and brought all these issues there.

perry, from philly, is trying to get the high school at which he teaches to buy six (6) bikes so he can play bike polo with the kids.

and i'm trying to do something in nyc like they have going in london: a city wide league with separate courts, regular teams, and stat keeping. but for now its like herding cats.

what's a dit? does alexis (male or female) have one?

On behalf of Columbia, I'd like to thank STL for all your hospitality and good times. We're all terribly acquainted with st. louis so we didn't have the wide-eyed enthusiasm about the city like Chi and Mke but it sure was fun to play you all! I'm bummed we missed out on the city museum because that place is awesome, but whatevs.
See you dudes in Madisonnnnn!

"A Midwest-specific tourney will be beneficial if/when we need regional tourneys to be held as qualifiers for North American/ World Championships."

Nothing set in stone here, Ben. Just tossing out ideas. Sorry.

And congrats to you too on your win.

chicagobikepolo.com

there is an extremely fine line between being competitive and being a dick, especially now that the talent is growing so rapidly. once that line gets crossed it stops being fun for a lot of people. i know when i get too competitive it stops being fun, but then again its only really fun to win. the only problem being that half of the people lose all the time. i should have chimed in sooner on this, but i dont blame the hunters for going to paris, hell i would have if i could have footed the bill. having said that i wish you guys would have just flown kevin in from paris again so we could have kicked your ass on small courts in a good ol midwest physical, and possibly too physical game.

bring it to NYC bitch, heavy kev will be there

who is heavy kev? did he gain some weight from all that wine and cheese in paris?

no dice nyc...MKE!

this is a bit delayed but thanks so much for everything St.Louis! It was a great first tourney for me :)
