You can just go ahead and start engraving our names on that Michigan Polo Cup right now, because Lansing is going to be representin' and we don't leave empty handed.

I think everybody already knows that the teams from Ionia are going to win it all. We'll stop by Lansing on the way to the tournament and you can just give us your money.

Shit talkin' already, I love it! P.S. The cup won't be leaving Ann Arbor btw.

Lucky or Capt.Jake what are the dates for the Midwest's in Dayton. I know some of us here in AA would love to travel to a tournament if possible.

That cup is going to be a permanent fixture of my trophy rack until the day I get tired of being better than everyone else and stop playing polo. btw, I like my trophies polished in 1-1/2 to 2” counter-clockwise circles. Have it ready for me when I get there.

It's up to Dayton, but I'm pushing for the 16th of May, 2009. Two weeks after the ESPI, two weeks before the West Side. If it's not that exact weekend, it'll be within a week or two of it.

Is there a team from Ypsi in on this thang?

I hope there is a team from Ypsi. That's another $15 my team will be taking home along with the cup.

Wow. I grew up in Kalamazoo, can I come too?

Why'd you leave? Other than Michigan being a cultural and economic wasteland?

No specific team from Ypsi. Ypsi/AA is basically considered one place, and an AA team might have a player from Ypsi on it. First place gets this!!!!

Ionia is bringing two teams for sure, and if schedules work out we will be bringing three teams.

So we have atleast two from AA, 2-3 from Ionia, 1-2 from E.L. and just confirmed a team from Traverse City!

I have the distinct pleasure of informing Ionia that the cup will never enter that city, in fact it will never leave its birth place and and rightful home, Ann Arbor.

We'll see.

Our team from Traverse will be showing up to represent for fixed gear gallery. Anyone down for showing a little hospitality for some out of town guests give me a shout.

it's sooooo cold in da D!

Hey if you guys from traverse want to get a beer let me know. Big Matt and i are down to get one.

And, the winners of the first (hopefully of many) all Michigan bike polo tournament are: Ionia. We had 8 teams after E.L. showed up late, but still in time. Four Michigan cities were represented at the event. It was a double elimination format with timed 15 minutes games until 4 teams remained then first to 5. I just noticed all first to 5 goal games ended with a final score of 5-2 weird. I don't have any pics as I didn't have time to take any trying to loosely organize everything. If anyone did take some post a link.

Final results:
1st place: Seth, Gary, and Tim from Ionia
2nd place: Matt (me!), Jimmy and Adam from Ann Arbor
3rd place: Andy, Piet, and Nick from Ann Arbor
4th place: Eric, Scott, and Kevin from East Lansing

Hey, thanks to Matt and the rest of the A2 guys for "loosely organizing everything". Matt, Jimmy, and Adam gave us two fun games. Matt makes for an imposing goalie, and A2 1 gave us all sorts of problems with solid defense and ball joints up the side that were hard to stop. I hope we see you guys again at Dayton.

Congratulations, MI. You pulled almost as many teams, from the same number of cities, from within one Midwestern state, as attended the 5th Bi Annual Mid West Bike Polo Champeenships.

If Michigan does not rep hard at the 6th Mid Wests in Dayton, OH on May 24th, I will personally come up there and take all your jobs away.

Thanks again for the well played games, its nice to have some diffrent players to have friendlies with. As for my comment above my foot tastes salty and cold. I'll look forward to the next Michigan Polo Cup. I should be able to make the Midwest Tourney.

Good to see so many teams come out, even if it was fucking cold down in the garage... Interesting to see different ways people play - high intensity/fast paced physical games, slower finesse-ier style. A couple good/spectacular crashes, only a few minor mechanicals, and no serious injuries other than my pride. Good times.

Tip o' the hat to Ionia for the win, AND for having the foresight to bring the camping stove and hot beverages.

One word... Indianapolis.

Thanks everyone for the awesome tournament. We will take good care of the cup for you guys.

So thinking to the future, bike polo tournament this summer in Traverse City at the Symposium...August 7, 8, & 9th...details to follow. All are invited.

Check out the dates of other tournaments before you try and throw your own. Right now you are trying to throw a tournament the same weekend as the North American Hardcourt Bicycle Polo Championship. You may not get as many people as expected at your tournament if you continue with this date.

Here is some super high quality footage of the tournament.

Enjoy.

that's so sketchy with those columns.

Those columns came in handy on offense, and nobody hit them...hard.

sent to the illegitimate holder of the Cup.

"Hello,

My name is Adam,

Your shop is in position of the Michigan Polo Cup, according to a Seth Higbee. It was won in 2009. Ionia bike polo dissovled and the Cup should be in the hand of active players, as it was meant to be passed between Michigan teams. The Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids clubs want it back, and you are showing your colors if you disregard this email. This is a formal request.

Time to give it up. If you want a match to determine the holder of the cup you can meet everyone in Grand Rapids. Neutral ground, bring your A-team. I'll put money on my B-squad, and if they or GR don't take your team out if you choose to play then I'll show you how far Michigan polo has come.

I will pay shipping if you don't want to deliver it. Or if you blow me off I'll show up to your shop, and ask for it in person, with conviction.

Please return the Cup.

-Adam Say"

it is about the lack of respect for the Cup, I will not give up on that Cup.
