Hey all, what's the best way for a new guy to get involved?
Been living in Logan since '01, just found out about bike polo this summer.
I just built some mallets (ski poles taped and cut, just waiting for my HDPE from Fixcraft), and am almost done with my bike.
My friends are mostly lame and won't fucking play - I have no experience at all but want to get involved.
Are there games for noobs anywhere? Should I just go find a spot to screw around and try to work on my stickhandling/etc first?
Any other tips/advice? Thanks.

Tried to come out Friday but no one was there. Had to head back to VA. Hope to catch u guys in September when I move to the area!

Sorry for that, Fridays aren't very regular.
We'll make up for it when you're around for real.

You'll see. Unless you drilled out your eyes because they were too heavy.

new quote, thanks buddy.

I'll be moving to Chicago late Summer from Richmond, VA. I'm going to be there visiting in June and am thinking ab coming out on a Wednesday, anyone like PBR?

you'll be welcomed with open arms, beer or no beer. But yeah, we like beer. And playing polo.

sounds awesome!

Mostly because it is.

Big Denver thanks for last night! It was really awesome to meet everyone, connect with a former Brekkie! Thanks Rob for hooking up the whip.. can't say enough good things about Chicago!

Hey guys. Just got a job in Chicago for a few months. Let's play, eh?
How often are you usually able to play in the winter? I don't mind playing in the cold, but Chicago's winter is in a different league than I'm used to. Anyway, looking forward to hitting some balls around with you guys.

Ian from Cincinnati

Where does Chicago play in the winter?

Just because I have a beard does not mean that I do not crush a lot.

We still play at Garfield Park in the winter whenever we can. We looked at an indoor spot last winter, but it didn't work out.

Midwest is best!!

Set up a game?

Just because I have a beard does not mean that I do not crush a lot.

You guys should come up for a day or a weekend for some pick up! We have a bunch of places for you guys to stay if you need it. I didn't know there was a club in the Quad Cities. That's awesome!!

Midwest is best!!

are you visiting? we will play many games.

Hey Chicago Bike Polo I just got a job there! I start Oct. 3rd and don't know if i'm more excited for the job or that I get to play polo with you guys! Representing the big sky country, Montana!

gimme your phone number and i'll make sure you get a text when we're playing.

hello adam from memphis! just let us know when you are planning on being in town, wanting to polo. we will most probably accomodate you on any off-days, barring any major tournament or other conflict.

awesome! i'm gunna be in town from sept 15-18. any time on saturday would be best for me, but thursday or friday would work out as well.

Hey, I'm going to be in Chicago(land) for June 4-6. I'm assuming you'll be playing on Sunday? I'm assuming that it'll be worth it to bring my bike!

Jack Crowe
"If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough."

yes, polo sunday! garfield park, sometimes as early as noon, usually by 2pm there are folks trickling in.

Don't listen to him.
I get off work at 2 and am always the last one there.
It should be in full swing by then.

You'll see. Unless you drilled out your eyes because they were too heavy.

Thanks guys! It was an amazing time, even if I didn't get to stay late into the evening hours.

Hope you got the job & to see you the courts again soon.

I'm taking the job! Friday is my last day at work, so I'll be up there early next week - I guess that means I'll miss the Bench Minor.

Jack Crowe

That's great news, Jack. Too bad you'll miss this weekend, but it will be good to have you out this summer.

Hey, I was wondering what days you all play. I'm driving home to Michigan from Florida and wanted to stop in Chicago on my way through, and was hoping I could get in a few days of polo.

Generally, Wed and Sun, sometimes Fridays.
Though when out of towners are in we tend to just make any day happen.
When are you coming through?

You'll see. Unless you drilled out your eyes because they were too heavy.

I'm planning on going. Add me to the list of passengers please

To Midwests, I'm assuming? If so, yay!!

hey I'm going to be in town this friday to saturday- can someone put me up? I'll have my bike

You are also welcome to stay with Chris and myself! We live on the West side, so it might be easier to commute wherever you are going.

Midwest is best!!

Sure, if no one else has offered, we can host you at Polo Central. It's in the ghetto, but right on a train line to downtown, should the business that brings you to Chicago take you there. Check your PM's for contact info.

Retired.

hi ya'all! im in chicago! does anyone have a bike I can use?

A bike for polo or just getting around? We will be at our court tonight after our Bench Minor meeting. You are welcome to come to both. The meeting is at 7pm at Cobra Lounge, 235 N. Ashland. We will roll to the courts after around 8:30-9pm. We also play Friday nights around 7pm & Sundays starting at 2pm. I'm not sure about the loner bike status since it's still somewhat off-season for newbies & such, but you are welcome to borrow someone's polo bike at pickup.

So who's driving to Lexington for spring break weekend? Can i catch a one way ride?

kev

Chris, The Draft will be coordinated by Paul (NYC) separate from the tourney logistics which will be organized by Chicago. Keep an eye out on his thread: http://leagueofbikepolo.com/forum/tournaments/2010/10/11/bench-minor-2-c...

hey chicago,

late notice, and probably not happening. but I'm going to be intown this Sunday. I know its both late notice and its Easter, but I was wondering if just perchance there might be some polo going on? i would love to play.

gonna cross post this to the facebook page.

Cherri,
Yes, yes and more yes. we'll be there. Check www.chicagohardcourt.com for directions to the court.
Where are you staying while you're here?

coffee, whiskey, beer. repeat.

Perfect!

I'm staying with family around 79th and s. cicero.

Coming out to the B-day shindig this coming weekend. Just wondering if anyone knows a bike shop I could ship my bike to. I'm in Austin right now but going to Buffalo NY then to Chicago. Want to ship my bike straight to Chicago so its there when I get there. Any leads would be super cool. Thanks!!!

Rapid Transit (http://www.rapidtransitcycles.com/) and Blue City Bikes (http://www.bluecitycycles.com/) are both pretty polo sympathetic.
I'd give one of them a call.

You'll see. Unless you drilled out your eyes because they were too heavy.

I am looking for an email address for Greg. I wanna speak with him about getting my hands on some mallet material. Anyone got an email address for him?
