Signed up

yeah can't wait!

Max Fun to be had. My special meter is already glowing.

HAY!

how many courts is that?

just one. there's a single tennis court adjacent but it's fenced off from the inline hockey court.

@txgoldsprints

got it. thanks.

Can anyone there house a team from albuquerque? just one team

ready to rock

i am soo ready for this!!!!!!!!!!

mike-polo

Fuck off

I'm looking forward to mixing it up. That court looks great! Thanks for running with the idea Dallas.

NO is confirmed for one team, probably enough for two.

I think Austin will be bringing three teams at the least .

mike-polo

Fuck off

i might be down for this if i can catch a ride with u NO boyz

so are we playing with hockey balls or soccer balls?

Rules?

soccer balls?

carve. smash. eat shit.

That endo on the joust was awesome! That looks like the exact court we'll be playing on. Will any of these guys be playing?

3 austin teams? lordy, is there even room for me when i get there?

YIP!

Not with that sorry display in New Orleans.

We got 2 teams so far I believe.
Also, A question being asked is are we able to have subs? I personally say no.....

HAY!

What, they don't like sandwiches in Dallas?

WISE ASS

HAY!

The last few games have been with street hockey balls, so i'd venture to guess that's how we'll roll with it.

If you and the team you're playing against wanna play with the soccer ball, then that's probably okay too.

One rule that the Dallas players don't observe is the notion of a 'scoring end' of the mallet. Nobody knows what a shuffle is. We've always just played that you protect your net, so I don't know what the plan is for the tournament, since i'm not the organizer Most everyone is down for whatever long as we're having a good time, so i'm sure joel will have that all worked out nice and tidy before the ball drops.

The 'point of this game is to win' guy in the youtube video up there is your loverly host.

@txgoldsprints

txgoldsprints wrote:

Oh that's great! Really? The "scoring end" of a mallet. I guess we're conformists in Tulsa but I'm love'n that Dallas isn't. I never really thought about it but I have no idea why a shuffle shot shouldn't count, I doubt I would take advantage of the possibility of a shuffle shot but I wouldn't be bothered by others doing so. I can live with that small concession.

I think Dallas might have been the last holdout using a soccer ball. I'm pretty sure the rest of us will prefer to use the street hockey ball.

In total agreement about having a good time. Let's make sure we all get in as much polo as we can possibly handle and there is plenty of time for friendly pickup games. I'm looking forward to mixing the teams up and playing on the same side with some of you folks.

there aren't many widely accepted rules in bike polo, but two rules that no one debates are 1) you must leave play if you dab and 2) a shot is off of the open end of the mallet (shuffles are not shots). no city i have every played in/with/against allows shuffles as shots. this is the first time i've heard of the absence of the shot/shuffle rule. if that's the way it's going to be, it's your city, your rules, and i'll play by them. for the future, though, you really should think about accepting that rule as being a part of the game if you want to play with other cities. you will be at a huge disadvantage if you travel to any other city since everyone, as far as i know, plays with that rule.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

I'm with Drizz that in the long run it would be better to give up on the shuffle shot cuz no other city will allow it and I doubt the rule even gets another discussion much less ever gets changed.

i don't think the rules for the have been posted yet officially, i'm just telling you how it normally rolls up here. i know the host is aware of it, it's just that most people here are still new enough players that they're largely unconcerned about how the rest of the polo-sphere goes about business.

very few of the players up here even use pipe mallets, so most of them don't have an 'open' end.
it's still a pretty casual deal to us, so i'd prepare to expect it be pretty lax. i'd be willing to bet that the dallas teams won't likely figure too much into the highly competitive rounds of the tourney since there's a serious experience gap.

i'll also bet that it's going to be a goddamned good time, regardless. i hope y'all think so too.

@txgoldsprints

No.

No fun is allowed. If anyone has even one ounce of fun, I'm going to be so pissed.

Maybe we should spend like an hour helping you guys make "real" mallets that you can use in the future. I've got a few extra ski poles and hockey tape I can bring up. I'm sure someone can bring you some ABS, if not, I've got like six feet in my back yard I can throw in Will's van.

I'm sure some of the other clubs that are coming can help seed you guys as well... if you're interested.

i'm actually working on this. my plan was to have some extra pipe mallets put together before the tourney for the yokels. i think it would be pretty cool to hammer out a few extras while were there.

i've got some ABS and little bit of hdpe for heads, but i need some more poles. craigslist has been the best source so far, but i've only scored 4 of them to date.

@txgoldsprints

I'll bring you four poles.

I'll make some mallets. I have about 10 poles and a shitload of 2" black HDPE

(and I'll bring some hockey balls... we really arnt playing with a soccer ball are we?)

*edit: I read post above, nevermind... unless you need me to bring some

let's play some polo! We've got extra mallets aswell for some other people to use. Let's try and get everyone using a mallet so they can be prepared for future games and/or tourneys.

mike-polo

Fuck off

I think everybody hopes for this to be a great meeting place for friendlies and tournaments. Geographically Dallas is Ideal. Although I love rebels and indigenous rules, it would be better for everyone if the rules were more inline other tournaments. I though East Van Crown did a nice job with their rules. Looks like we have nets so we could skip the cone height part.

I'll help Pdillo make a mallet or two we'll plan to leave with you. Do you guys still want to grill some food? Any news on a grill?

We'll have a grill there...don't know how big yet.

And those rules are pretty much the same as here. the 'cone height' goals is a new one. the nets are gone at norbuck now, and the last couple times the only cones we had a the small collapsible ones, which don't really work all that great. we're working on rounding up some proper cones, but if you happen to have a couple sets and it's not too much of a pain in the ass to bring them with you as a backup, that would be splendid.

i'll wait for joel to chime in here, but from talking to him i think that the rules will be similar to what you linked to there at the 'East Van Crown', with the 'no shuffle score' rule intact.

@txgoldsprints

I have tons of large cones, I'll bring 4, just in case...

What's the housing situation0 like? Are there floors to crash on in Dallas? We're looking at leaving NO on Friday morning and getting there maybe at like 5 or 6pm. I'm not sure exactly how many... at least three... maybe five or six. We're all pretty tameish.

post up on the facebook event page. the inn is full at my place, but you might find a vacant couch or similar there.

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=197024485758

@txgoldsprints

Will do. If you know the people who live in Dallas etc it would be cool if you could just let them know that it's normal for people from out of town to look for places to stay within the community (eg free) and that if you're "hosting" it's pretty normal to help arrange housing... I only say this because you mentioned they were largely unconcerned/unaware of what's been developing over the few years so they may see some dudes on there asking for places to stay and not know that it's normal for "strangers" to shack up with locals. Or maybe they do... no clue.

Is an exposed outer chainring a problem?

HAY!

only if it gets bent.

DanielNOLA and ATX crew, my dad lives in the DFW (Grand Prairie to be exact)and I was kinda thinking it'd be cool to crash his bachelor pad. he has ample floor space and three mattresses available for a ton of people and i think it'd be kinda neat to hang at his place with my polo peeps. and he is a major homebrewer..maybe we could throw down some tasty treats and play pool and darts and stuff...i dunno. just an idea.

www.atxbpsc.blogspot.com

Mo, I think three nice guys from Tulsa might like to meet your pops too. It sound like a great time. We won't take up much room at all... promise.

you've got mail... kinda.

okay.....this is sounding a little backwards???

shuffle goals???

soccer balls??

nobody in the rest of the world plays like that..

i might not even go now.

this is sounding kinda ridiculous

Did you read the whole post? Dallas has more or less been doing there own thing but when a few of us wanted to meet there and play each other the Dallas club was gracious enough to organize this fun tournament. In a video on youtube they were pictured using soccer balls some time last year. They have recently switched up. We're all planning to use hockey balls. The rules will be standard tournament rules. They only said until now they had counted all shots on goal. Dallas was conceived as a friendly mixer for a few of the members of the south central to get to know each other. There will be great games there and some good competition so don't get all twisted up about a few little details. Housing, food, and rules will all work themselves out so just get in the van and go. I know everyone from Tulsa is looking forward to playing you guys and making some new friends. This is going to be a small setting so you'll get to play more polo here then anywhere else that weekend. Heck if you play well you may have a good chance of leaving with some money or nice swag.

Geez, let's play some polo already!!!!! So do we know what cities will be attending this event?

mike-polo

Fuck off

Tulsa will be there.

Albuquerque, NM is bringing a team. We want to make some polo friends and learn new tricks from some of you pros so we can smash our other players when we get home. Also, is anyone going to dallas interested in giving/selling us some super strong head material? I'll make it worth your time. Mail fresh green chile next season perhaps???

I'll cut up some from my stash. I've got some very nice (and maybe rare) black HDPE.

Amarillo doesn't have to worry about lodging, because after they see our playing, any females present will invite us to their places.

HAY!

cause they're gonna feel sorry for all you busters and your broke ass game?

night night 806... lick a shot... polo 187.

Sympathy is still attention

HAY!

Hahahaha!!!!! We even have comedians that are going to be present too? Any bets for the podium? Haha

mike-polo

Fuck off

cant wait to serve my friend miguel.....i didnt get a chance in NOLA!

i cant wait to see you dogg....i think me and daniel and will are coming.

so at least one or possiblly two...

i seriously cant wait to be back in texas....

holla back at me dogg!

Hahaha. Sorry Jeff that we were undefeated the whole time! But yes, you will have your chance to play us and it will be fun! See you guys there and bring your best game- oh and hurry and move here Jeff!!

mike-polo

Fuck off

stevenso: You are awesome! Want monies for that stuff?

I liked the promise of those green chiles, I can wait until summer for payment. This is a friendly offer. I come thru your town a couple times a year so I'm going to start bringing my bike so I can meet up with you guys from now on. Keep an eye out for people working on or near the roads and I bet you will find some in your town too. I just asked the dude for it and he sliced off a chuck for me. Might start stalking plumbers too 'cuz they sometimes use it and might have scraps after a job. Does cutting them to 5 and a half inches sound okay to you?

5 and a half is perfect. Thanks for the advice also. looking forward to meeting in dallas.

I'm putting the word out to see if we can help everyone out with accommodations.

@txgoldsprints

On a serious note, I asked before but never got a straight response:
We might have a non-3 number group of people come, like 4,5,7 or such. Alex (Bikelife) was wanting to know if we could rotate people out so that the trip is not wasted. Or, could there be one or 2 people on 2 teams to round that out?

HAY!

I don't think your trip will be wasted because there is going to be plenty of friendly games. I doubt the tournament will take that long and then we'll be right back to pick up games. We probably won't have a perfect 3 or 6 or 9 from Tulsa so maybe the extras can be pair up in pick up games that morning. That said I don't mind people rotating if that is what you guys what to do.

I'm sure there will be some odd number people who can team up from different cities to make teams of three.

i think that's probably the likely scenario with a lot of folks showing up looking for team members.

if we don't end up with that many teams, then maybe we can round-robin for qualifiers to seed the teams. im sure there will be quite a few local players without full teams, so just come on down and you'll get to play.

is allowing subs for team members a common deal in other tournaments?

@txgoldsprints

We don't know. My first tournament.

HAY!

usually doesn't happen but i don't think it really matters for this. if there are enough odd people out to make teams, should do that rather than rotate, though.

-----
"youre well known out here (chicago) some bartender was bitching about your ca posts. i had a good laugh. thanks boo."

If como wanted to make the trip would you have us?

well, my vote is fuck yesss!

www.atxbpsc.blogspot.com

the more, the merrier. c'mon down.

looks like the weather calls for it to be cold and clear.

@txgoldsprints

some of us think of mid-forties to be quite nice, almost warm.

Discovered a problem with my van over the break. A problem that ends with the rear wheels ejecting from my vehicle. Not going to make it, but I'll send those ski poles up with Jeff and Daniel.

Maybe you could ride along with one of them?

The truck taking them only seats two. Three in that cab for more than an hour would be miserable. I'll see if anyone else is going.

i need a ride to this. frazer, you going?

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

Burgers for the cookout? Do you guys want me to hustle around and get this stuff ready or just skip it. I'm a bit lazy yet I'm also a master behind the grill. Let me know if everyone want's to put some effort behind the cookout. Nothing seals a friendship like sharing food together. On the other hand, there's going to be a bit of a chill in the air so maybe everyone would instead prefer to leave and get lunch or dinner else where.

How far is this place from Deep Ellum and is Franzini's Pizza still open?

HAY!

NOLA boys, will, drizz, any chance yall could get yourselves to Austin before 3/4pm on Friday? If so, you can ride with me...up to dallas. just a thought. i know its pretty silly..if you could get that far, why not just all the way to dallas....i'm just trying to be helpful is all.

i like the idea of cookout, but i am able to do whatever everyone wants to do. i am one of the pesky vegetarians though....

stevenso and the OK boys, did yall figure out accommodations yet?

www.atxbpsc.blogspot.com

looks like its only daniel and i attending this.....going to austin and then dallas would not

be too logical....dallas is about 8hrs from here and so is austin...yeah dude???

see you there and daniel and i will need a 3rd. i seee someone from como said

they would go....that would be cool...anyways....mo, daniel said something about

staying with you...i guess he will have that figured out by the time we go.

cant wait to get outta town...my new years was a disaster and i wanna die now!

so this will be one of my last tournament things....well maybe sespi, but after that

i got a suicide pact with myself....LIGHTS OUT LITTLE JEFFREY!

One I think I'd like to get pizza and one yeah but I'm vegetarian. Not too convincing. I'm giving this 'til noon for some people to chime in with some real passion for the cookout. On the accommodations I think pdillo is shaking down his Dallas connections but I haven't heard any conformations yet.

I may be able to fly up. Can anyone grab me from DFW on their way to the courts? The flight would arrive at 11:30a, Saturday.

will, we will totally be able to get you from the airport no problemo!!!!!!
512-797-5483

www.atxbpsc.blogspot.com

if you flew that would be sick will....seriously dude....

that would be awesome.....i would love for you to do that...i dont know where

the airport is but i am sure we could figure that part out fool!

lemme know dogggggggggg!

my last two months of polo dude...then its LIGHTS OUT!

calm down, i'm getting my tires on my truck changed today, coming through NOLA @ 8am. Gotta get back to Mobile by 9am monday. can fit 4 othe peeps

i want one of those spots please.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

i call shotgun in the hick-up truck.

i may or may not have a team from austin, so if anys got odds, ill play with you

finally!
it's about damn time casey!!

www.atxbpsc.blogspot.com

4 young men from albuquerque will arrive in dallas somtime between 8 and 10pm on friday. Will anyone house us?

I'm coming from Lawrence,KS! I can't get any confirmations from other ScaryLarry players. I will be there either way... if anyone needs one I'm down!!

Jeff and I came up with a list of names for our team, Will. Let us know if you'd be adverse to being on a team named any of the following:

"I WANNA FUCKING MURDER MYSELF"
"WILL 187"
"BATI WILL BLOODCLOT"
"BOMBA WILL"
"MY 9MM GO BANG AT WILL"

My vote goes out to "my 9mm go bang..." Let us know.

This weekend Dallas will be offering the best polo action to be found anywhere in the world! It's pretty awesome that this has come together so nicely and so many clubs are taking part. I hope no one minds that I leave my chef's hat at home, it didn't seem overly important to anyone. I'm still bringing plenty of cut hdpe for the albuquerque club, or whom ever. Safe travels everyone.

Wow. That's all I can say. I lived in Dallas for 5 years, moving there was a blessing and leaving was a soul crusher. This isn't the 1st time I've been back but it's on my terms and it will feel great to be there playing Bike Polo with everyone, both with my Amarillo peoples and people from all around.
These wheels won't ever stop rolling.

HAY!

Well, I have some unfortunate news. We went up to the park today to do a little cleanup and found that the city has decided to move forward with the repairs to the court without any warning. Unfortunately, this involved cutting two-foot deep sections as long as 6 feet in some areas out of the center of the court. The entry gates have been chained shut and locked. I'm still waiting to hear from the Parks dept, but it is highly unlikely that the tourney will take place here.

We are working furiously on an alternate venue and have a possible option, albeit one without lighting. This may affect the scheduled time. Update will come within 24 hours.

Frankly, we're shocked and disappointed by this news, but still fully plan to play polo on Saturday in the DFW area.

@txgoldsprints

bummer. looked like a nice court.

whoa, that's a bummer, yeah, keep us updated...

def keep us posted, we were planning on leaving Amarillo at 7am Saturday morning, but it sounds like a contingency plan may be in order. are there any outdoor b-ball courts we could play on?

HAY!

what about that tennis court next to it???

and if lighting is n issue it looks like you fools gonna have to start earlier...and a tourney is

definitely gonna take more than one day!

let me know cause i really wanted to come to this and stomp austin!

shit, i say set the pits on fire and play on! psh, pussies...

Would any roller hockey court work?
I found this city park one in Bedford it has a roller hockey rink
http://www.ci.bedford.tx.us/Departments/parks_recreation/parks_info.htm

HAY!

I've been tipped about that court at the Bedford Boys Ranch but apparently it sees regular scheduled action as a hockey court. I'm trying to find the 'right' person to talk to about letting us play there.

There's also one other hockey court in Grapevine near DFW, but it's a similar situation.

@txgoldsprints

There's a location just east of Lemmon and Central Expy that we're looking at. The court has a slight downward grade on the southeast side, but I think it's workable since it's neutral. It needs some TLC and to have the open ends boarded off. We'll try to get that done this week if this ends up being the spot. The decision will be made after we're able to talk to someone at Parks & Rec. tomorrow.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=32.800761,-96.788473&num=1&t=h&sll=32.8006...

No lights, so we'll see what we can do about maybe starting a little earlier to beat the daylight.

@txgoldsprints

sucks about the venue. new venue? postponed? cancelled? either way everyone will understand.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

new venue! new venue! please oh please, new venue! www.atxbpsc.blogspot.com

A new venue may be even better. We play on 7 tennis courts that we cut down to three with some boards. Maybe we could even bring our boards if need be. I called these people http://www.garlandtenniscenter.com/ and they said we might be able to play there. They have three lit courts that could be perfect. Understandably, Mark has to talk to his manager first. Maybe some guys are out at your court right now fixing those holes. You never know. Thanks for keeping us updated.

keep us posted....i had a terrible new years and was looking forward to getting outta town.

i even got the time off of work....keep it up with the search dudes....

i will check the thread after work tonight.

Okay, folks. Official word from the city is that no schedule is set for the completion to repairs at Norbuck, but it's not this weekend. We're going to give JW Ray Park a spin for our little polo party.

Location has been updated. Everyone who's volunteered to help is on a schedule because of work and other cycling-related commitments going on earlier in the day, so moving the festivities up in the day is gonna be a tough one for us. It's a public park, so there's no reason to assume that those of you making the drive can't just go on up. I plan to take some materials up there to repair the boards ASAP but I don't know if I can make it before Saturday around noon.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=32.800761,-96.788473&num=1&t=h&sll=32.8006...

After talking to our host, he's suggested maybe abandoning the fees for the teams since the changes short-notice and the just playin' some polo. We can still do a tourney, but the daylight is our only friend out there.

What do you guys think?

@txgoldsprints

What is that, a basketball court?

i'm not sure what it's for. it has some unusual markings on it, but looks like it might have been a small hockey court at one time? there are boards around the perimeter of the fence and openings on both ends.

there is a basketball court and tennis court adjacent as you can see from the map.

@txgoldsprints

are we only doing saturday, or saturday and sunday?

it appears that it's only sunday and without lights, starting at 2, we would have 3.5 hours at most of play.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

To be fair he said we could start any time. 9-6 would be totally possible.

Sunday has a high of 47º

oh and i said sunday, but it's on saturday. i'm tired.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

---------------------------
carve. smash. eat shit.

TX, how busted is the court?

Like overall, surface, ball containment etc? When you say repair the boards, what are we talking about?

the perimeter of the court is lined with 1x12 boards except a ~4' entry on each end. There were curved boards in the corners, but those have been removed. Plan was to get a sheet or two of osb ripped into 1x8 sections and restore the corners. there are some cast pedestals on the concrete in each corner not conducive to a playing surface. maybe there were light poles there at one time? the surface is otherwise in good shape. needs a sweeping...there's some glass out there.

the boards are old and need to have some fasteners replaced. the court could use a broom or two. realistically less than an hour or so of maintenance but it's an issue of getting the materials over there. that location is about 30-45 min away from me.

yes, the plan is to go on saturday. i'm up for playing again on sunday as well, but we've largely advertised it as a one-day tourney, so i think if the masses largely agree to just sort of make it a friendly games, then we don't have to worry about making it happen on sunday also to fulfill the tourney and/or payout obligations. in other words, save your cash for the next dallas tourney when we can use our normal court under the lights and not have to worry about time.

what say ye?

@txgoldsprints

Hey Jeff!!!! Maybe you can play us this time and possibly learn some things eh? Haha. Stop worrying about beating us and come out and play and have a good time!! See you very soon boyeeeee

mike-polo

Fuck off

If we show up, can we play pick up games in the basketball courts while the tournament, if it is still on, is happening?
As for saving your moneys for another Dallas tournament save them for an Amarillo one instead...

HAY!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this, but the point of me asking the question was a bit of goodwill in that something out of our control has taken a little of the steam out of what we had planned and we're asking for feedback on how it might affect the decision to come out. You guys are the ones making the long drive. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you.

Bottom line is myself and a few others plan to be at JW Ray Park on Saturday, probably around noon. The plan is for Joel and a few of his friends to try and hold a tournament with what little daylight we have. We hope to meet some other folks who are into polo. We're looking forward to learning about how to build up some more interest locally and to see some players who know what they're doing work a little magic.

I think that's a safe place to set your expectations about this weekend if you show.

And to answer your other question, it's a city park so the facilities are open without reservation. I see no reason why pick-up games can't be going on b-ball court while the tourney games are as long as the court isn't already in use.

@txgoldsprints

Okay i've taken a little better look at this. The court you want to play on is that skinny one next to the tennis court. That looks pretty nice. What do they use it for now? The basketball court looks playable. The Tennis court might also be playable. Does anyone have one of those tools to take down the net? Maybe this is a great location!

Wrenches? Or is this something pretty specialized and specific? We take the volleyball nets down up here with our bare hands every now and then.

the tennis court net is actually chainlink fencing. the bolts holding the net are welded to the steel piers. it's the craziest thing i've ever seen.

@txgoldsprints

I didn't mean anything negative in particular. -I fully plan on coming, (I wish we could leave Amarillo earlier to start earlier myself) and for any troubles you guys will be going through, I am bringing an extra donation (anyone else who can should)

HAY!

no worries. i'm hoping i took nothing out of context.

can we safely assume that everyone who's signed up here is still coming?

@txgoldsprints

Jeff, Will and I are still coming. I don't know about anyone else from here.

the perimeter of the court is lined with 1x12 boards except a ~4' entry on each end. There were curved boards in the corners, but those have been removed. Plan was to get a sheet or two of osb ripped into 1x8 sections and restore the corners. there are some cast pedestals on the concrete in each corner not conducive to a playing surface. maybe there were light poles there at one time? the surface is otherwise in good shape. needs a sweeping...there's some glass out there.
the boards are old and need to have some fasteners replaced. the court could use a broom or two. realistically less than an hour or so of maintenance but it's an issue of getting the materials over there. that location is about 30-45 min away from me.
what say ye?

I say does ye have a truck to bring some stuff? If you bring a push broom the glass won't take long at all to clean. As for the corner and gate boards what I would do is put eye bolts through them on each end and use a chain or some other type of tether to hold them fast to the chain link. That way if you ever have to improvise again in some sort of court you will always have these. We have gaps under the fences and gates in our courts and use CycloCross barriers as corners and hole blocks.

HAY!

Austin is still bring a whole crew of people no matter what... this will be fun! I think we are split, some are coming Friday, the rest will be there Saturday Morning.

We should play Sunday too, at least a little in the morning if we can before everyone leaves to go back home!

we're down to play all day sunday too. we're not trying to sit in a car for 8+ hours each way to only play for four or five hours.

Fuck off

HEY TXGOLD,
can we have a recap. With the new location. Time. what about all these out of towners (OK and NM) needing accommodation, are they taken care of? Plan of days, sat and sunday play? what do you need from us players? I know we have to pick up a NOLA guy from the airport around noon on saturday, a lot of austin was planning on arriving on sat morning as well. Thanks for finding a replacement location. I took off work for this and am looking forward to some polo with fellow texans.
About the cold weather, everyone make sure you have warm dry clothes for when you are off the court and everyone should try to bring a thermos or two of hot beverages! just a thought.

HAY!

Tulsa coming! We're bring faith that everything will work out. We're leaving super early Saturday morning. Maybe we'll even get there early enough to have breakfast with some of you.

so-

the tourney is a couple of days out and the weather is well... winterish. Our home court at norbuck park is underconstruction with no completion date given by the city. we found another court at cocheran and caddo streets. near 75 and lemmon. j.w.ray park. the court is a bit smaller but that should just make it more fun and action packed right? the other issue with our interum court is there are no stadium lights (like norbuck), so the play time will be pretty limited once the sun drops. we've been in discussion on how or what to for the tournament. and the results led us to just hosting a bunch of games not necessarly in a tournament format, unless the savages demand it! please come to dallas and play some polo saturday! one of our friends is having a surprise party afterwards, and they have requested anyone from the games attend. there will be food and beer. ride time to the party will be about 40 mins. ironically it's really close to norbuck park.. there are no facilities at jw ray park. there is however a taco bell just up the road incase you get properly hydrated and need a 15 layer nacho to tide you over. hope everyone can make it out for some fun on saturday. see ya'll there!!

if ya have any question gimme a shout 214.951.5421 or ill be at work a bit too during the day 214.321.0705

see ya

Ok, we have several people that are skittish about coming now. It looks like we are still a go, but we need definite concrete plans by tomorrow evening. Can Dallas deliver?

HAY!

Reasons they are worried:
One is a dad: he has to have a decent amount of time to make arrangements for his sons on saturday as his wife is working then. (If you can't handle this then you hate dads)
No Lighting; very limited time

FWIW, this will not be the only polo tournament we ever see here. Looks like there's plenty of interest, and with just a inkling more cooperation from the City and Mother Nature, this would be aces.

As for the accommodations, we'll do what we can to help out. come to the party after we close up shop at dusk.

Also, I have Sunday off too and plan on playing again on Sunday if'n some folks stick around a second day.

@txgoldsprints

I know right where that is. We'll be coming in on N75 around 10-11 AM(ish). When the sun goes down it will prob get balls cold anywho, perfect timing for getting crunk. I havent been to Dallas in years, I can't wait. Hoping to get some of my old Dallas graffito comrades to give us a couch to sleep on, so far not having good luck... holler if you have a floor.

Also, just a reminder for anyone coming from out-of-town headed east. You'll probably want to avoid 360, I30 or any thoroughfare taking you through central Arlintgon since there's a Cowboys playoff game tomorrow afternoon.

@txgoldsprints

I'm super excited about this, I don't care how cold it is, we'll get warm the more we play...

are there any electrical outlets by the court we could plug some lights into, I've got a few lights I can bring possibly? and some extension cords!? Just a thought.

Can't wait to see you guys again Tulsa and Nola, also can't wait to meet the Dallas, Amarillo, and Albuquerque crews!

I got one of these

You're such a super stud web developer, couldn't you make the picture a little smaller?

better, steven?

cold weather ball in cold weather = good
liquid filled ball in any weather = bad (more of a preference, really)

yeah dood, for some reason the one sports store that sells hockey balls in tulsa only sell liquid filled balls. lame. A few weeks ago, in sub degree weather, i broke a warm weather ball in half and it sprayed water all over me.

i looked for a few cold weather balls and the liquid-filled low-density ones were all i could find locally.....

i only have the (orange) high-density ones.

@txgoldsprints

Sorry guys, I cant justify the trip for one day of play and some pickup matches. Let us know when the next tournament is going to be and we will try again. I hope they fix your regular court soon, you dont know how much I was wanting to play on it.

no worries.

if you guys want to stick around and play some more on sunday, i'm down.

@txgoldsprints

I support Podz in this as I can go ahead and work, play in good weather Sat, and in pristine weather on Sunday.

HAY!

I can't justify the travel either, especially without a team, but...

Lawrence, KS and the ScaryLarry crew would love to have another opportunity to put together a team and take a hot at a TX tourney! let us know when the next one is jumpin' off and we will be there! Much Love from the Larry Crew

I did PM you and promise a como player, however as we most likely originate from rival schools I can see your reluctance to respond. I will keep that in mind next time you guys swear your coming to our friendlies...

I Love the CoMO!! no beef, just had no intranet.

I'll be there as soon as I can....probably close to noon.

I have boards to repair the corners and behind the goal areas, so don't fret at the giant open areas on the ends of the court when you get there. I'll have brooms to sweep the surface off. Won't take but a few minutes and we'll be ready to polo.

I'm not gonna be able to sleep......See you kids manana.

@txgoldsprints

amarillo. stinks. They were half way for us today and their mexican food gave us the shits. IN DALLAS! STOKED!

Have a good one Dallas!

haha, i heard jeff broke his bike in the first match he played today. that sucks, dog. i got a frame you might be able to work with. hit me up.
