1-L'équipe
2-Moteur Fuckers
3-Les Fritz
4-Polo Stübli
5--Iron Ponies**
6-Jean Polo Gaultier.

** As Iron ponies can't Come because of dates issues, the next team on list is "Jean Polo Gaultier".

Have fucking fun all of you!
Cheers

P.s.
Update the top of front message with the real dates, talking about early june can be confusing.

We are going to need all players to have a number stamped/written/embroidered/etc on the back of their shirts (preferably on the lower part as it is easy to see). A large enough size so that it can be easily seen by the ref.
Do it yourselves before the tourney and get it done properly, or let us do it our way and assume the consequences.

Ale, any number will do or they need to be 1, 2 and 3?

Some pictures about courts of EHBPC 2011:

Gorgeous!

Winston Salem NC Bike Polo

I've read the rules, I've found these minor mistakes:
"5.1.1 A match is to be timed to no less than 10 minutes." not more/not longer than 10min, isn't it?
"11.7.2 (also 11.8.2) – Infractions that can result in a two second penalty." that would be 2 minutes, right?

5.1.1.... Nope, that is correct. The shortest a match of official polo should be is at least 10 minutes. There is no rule on time limit though.
11.7.2... Thanks!

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Does that mean that games do not end after a team has scored 5 goals or am I misinterpreting it?

5.1 – Basic match structure
5.1.1 – A match is to be timed to no less than 10 minutes.
5.1.1.1 – The first team to score 5 goals will win the match.
5.1.1.2 – A match can be played untimed.

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

thanks!

I still don't get it.
One team shoots 5 goals let's say in 8minutes, and then although they won already, the match still goes on for 2 more minutes?

The Bisons;

no no. if one team scores five goals, it's over. but if no body scores five goals, after 10 minutes the game is called. so if it's 3-4. the team with 4 wins.

ahh, ok, as it was always. just from this sentence I understood a match has to last no less then 10 min. a bit confusing way to put it. thx.

The Bisons;

unless i'm mistaken too, but combing the other two doesn't make sense. so, we have to assume it's the same.

2 minutes penalty on a 10 minutes game?? Isn't that a bit too much?

kind of agree with that but if you are getting that kind of penalty, it only means you've played like a dick, you get what you deserve

I still think that 2 minutes is too much. Dick moves have to be sanctionned but the longer the penalty is, less you think about calling it (even for dick moves you think twice before getting someone out for 2 min. of a 10 min. game)

I imaging it is 2min or until a goal is score against you, so normally it will be less than 2min

Rik

So let's say you pull the bastard out until the opposing team scores? I think 30 sec or1 min would be enough. Hockey penalties are 2 min. in a 60 min. game (or 20 min. period).

I suggest discussing the ruleset in this thread instead....

Hi Barcelona, what happened to this page?
http://www.ehbpc.org/2011/wildcard-tourney-confirmed/

Why we have to register again for the wildcard tourney?
Why is now Polo D'Oro on 4th position (before was on 39th!) instead of El Club?
I'm afraid to stress you with all this questions, but I like to have some answers...

Greetings

I moved the list to it's own section.
http://www.ehbpc.org/wildcard/

This week we moved along in a few key points and we are working very hard to fine-tune some details such as the wildcard tourney.
We are tying to host the largest wildcard tourney possible. But you have to remember a few key points, such as the fact that it has to be all played in less than one day (Thursday) and that the amount of available spots on the tourney are fixed regardless of team participation, let alone actual attendance of a few registered teams that either will qualify for sure, or that will simply not attend.

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Austria, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, Poland...
could you tell me which team you are sending? Are you holding classifiers, etc? When will you know?

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Next year maybe we (Austria) will have enough players who will want to play at the EHBPC so that it will be necessary to hold classifieres.
This year non was held, the team going is Banana Thieves (95% sure thats going to be the name) and we have one team in the wild card turney, which is Arreando Chim Pam Pum.

Budapest Bike Polo from Hungary.

cheers,

wackor

So what's the name?

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

I'm in the states so I have no idea whats going on, so if the guys' havent gotten in touch then I guess they wont be going!?

Are you serious?

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Mr.Carrillo wrote:

Are you serious?

Yes. I have nothing to do with the Danish EHBPC team, i've only been in Denmark for a month in the last year, I only did the registration because I was the only one who was on LOBP at the time.

... is the danish slot to donate to the the wildcard (8+1) ?

MOST DEFINITELY!

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

ACCOMODATION:
Mr. Carillo, in the other thread you said, you are working on getting discounts for accomodation, had any luck?

Can anyone recommend a campsite in Badalona?
Preferably not tooo far away from the courts.

Also, would it be save to leave your stuff in the tents while beeing at the courts all day?

Can´t wait anymore, this is gonna be awesome!

Pablo has been sorting out all housing needs. Drop him a line at pablo@ehbpc.org

As for leaving your stuff in a tent, unattended.... not the best idea. Bring your valuables with you, the courts might be a safer place.

Give us a group easier then we had in Geneva please.
Playing cosmic, tough shit, 24h barcelona and apologies accepted was fun but we´d like to survive the first round :D

No easy passes for anyone.

I was just kidding ;)

8 groups of 8. 7 matches each of 10 minutes. One day play, one day rest.
Classifier's results will be taken into account.

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Transparecy is important here, and this is not the answer of what I'm asking.

I don't want to stress the organization but it looks like noone is getting real answers but only "diplomatic" sentences.

one day play / one day rest is strange, no? I'm not travelling to Barca to sit still for a day. Plus you loose your energy not playing for a full day...

Yorgo

I though the "one day play / one day rest" is only for the wild cars teams, I'm expecting saturday and sunday to be full polo days.... Ale???

Rik
Berlin Bike Polo 2010

Sounds to me like you play 7 games in your group on either the Friday or Saturday, then have the double elim on Sunday if you're top 32. (Wildcard is Thursday.)

Surely it would make more sense to split the days AM and PM. Your team is either AM both days or PM both days, playing 3 one day and 4 the next (or vice versa).

If the teams are already split into two groups, it shouldnt be much of a problem to also spread the games out, if thats what people are asking for.

I agree

Yorgo

There'll be pickup courts if you want to keep on busy...
besides, there'll be plenty of inner tubes and mallets available for you.

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

I'll come with a team of cheerleaders...

But seriously I hate playing pickup during tourneys.

Yorgo

I like the idea of having one day off!

Please Ale, this page is not up to date

I mean:
Spain (Qualifiers May 21-22)
1 to 5

France (Qualifiers May 27-28)
1 to 8

Denmark
1
Hungary
1
Ireland
1
Poland
1
+ Wild-card tourney...

can you make a bit of order?

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

hey ale, what's up with the plan of having one day off?
It's really strange I think.
I took a flight for thursday night, but if I don't play friday it means I've lost one day of work...

Plus I really think spreading the games over two days has many pluses:

- if it rains one one day and not the other, teams who will have played on the "good" day will have an advantage. Same applies to extreme heat or clouds or sun etc...

- if you feel sick on the day of your games (bad food, bad flight, etc...), and feel better the day after, you're at a disadvantage

- if it's really hot both days, playing 6-7 games in one day is pretty intense

- playing pickup on your day off is just not as fun as tourney play. Plus imagine hurting yourself on a pickup game...

let us know!

Yorgo

Can't please everybody all the time.
The idea behind the one day play/one day rest is because it is easier to manage. Also, we need people to be available to help and that way we can assure they don't have to worry about their "on" time.

No teams have an advantage over the other. As you only play the people in your group, and your group plays in the same time slot, so conditions should be more or less the same. The top 4 teams of each group make it, so it doesn't matter if your group had better or worse polo conditions than the rest.

I know it'll be pretty hot those days, but you are young and strong. You can do ANYTHING!!!!!

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

how are the groups/poules being made? Champions League like?

I have my two best men working on the best possible system
It's quite tricky to put everyone on a fair group and I foresee a lot of questions. We are fiddling with this exact issue (which is pretty delicate).

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Alejandro, for teams already qualifies, when are games starting, friday or saturday, and at what time?
I could not see anything in the webpage about times

I'm working out what will work best with our setup (sorting the groups, timetable).
What you can expect is to be needed at the courts by 9:00AM on the day you play as we have a pretty tight schedule to meet (close to 6hrs per group)

your what? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corset) what do you livestream usually? :))

The Bisons;

hey Alejandro, nice work with gettin shit going, sounds like its gonna be pretty awesome, Im super excited.

what's the surface of the court like? slippery? moist? chunky?

oh and I'm drafting my heckling routine, will there be children present?

Surface is smooth... on the covered area is a bit more slippery than the exterior, but they'd be giving it a treatment this week to make it more grippy.

There'll probably be some kids, but they don't get English anyway, so bring it on!

*Somebody please think of the children!!*

Can someone pls quickly answer when the EHBPC games are gonna start?

On Friday and if so, when?

Thanks

Thanks Ale and everyone involved for an excellent weekend . Had a great time , I loved every second . Congrats to Equipe . Best game for us to play was against Toros (we lost). Best game to watch was Hooks v El Club , so exciting , polo at its finest .

Thanks Alejandro and everyone else who helped make the EHBPC work!

Unfortunately Banana Thieves didn´t make it through the group stage. Watching all the awesome games on Sunday was at least as much exciting though.

Vienna still needs more player so we can play more then once a week (if at all) and gain experience playing in fix teams, just a matter of time...!
