Mambas (etc) for... platforms?

What kind of stiffer shoes are out there for platform pedal use? Mine look like a frowny face whenever I pedal, and my polo powertap says I'm losing like 15 seconds over a 40km TT.

I know Chrome has a whole line of things, but I do not like the gen1 high tops I got from them forever ago. Blister city. The DZR stuff I have (for clipless use) is fab, and I know they come out of the box with the cleat covered so pretty much a normal sole. Anyone thought of using them for the stiffer sole (and decent build quality), with platforms?

5ten makes a few stiff sole platform shoes, pretty cheap some places as well if you don't care to much about the color

I can say that the DZR mambas make great flat pedal shoes, I used them this way for a few days before going clipless again. They come with cleat covers as well, so you can go back to flats. The DZRs also have plenty of cushioning around the ankle, so I doubt you'll have any blisters. just my 2.

That's what I was thinking, glad to hear someone out there has tried playing in them on platforms. Seems like a no brainer, and then the cleat is always there if I decide I want to fall on my ass a bunch of times again.

i like wearing low-cut, sticky approach shoes for platforms. La Sportiva, 5ten, patagonia, etc. they last longer than anything.

EDIT: just pick the ones with the stiffest sole. some approach shoes are bendy like beckham

Leon here in seattle uses these.

Nice and stiff with good padding around the bony prominences.

For the lulz.

I recently got some Chrome Truks for everyday riding. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised with their stiffness. They feel great in toe clips. Stiff on the pedal and walk-able on the sidewalk. I'm tempted to get the pro versions to compare to my Mambas.

Keep me posted on this, please? I'd like to know how she likes them.

my SB's look pretty stiff in that pic

clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

DZR all the way. The tread beats any grip I've ever used. Newborn and Burge used these all season before making the switch. So does machine. Defiantly do what ever machine does.

plus DZR is a small company that supports our small community :)

judging by that picture it looks like you're not pedaling with the balls of your feet brah

New shoe that the Assassins (Joe, Evan, Koyo) all just received.

These look pretty slick, not a high top but you can rock them as flats or cut out the spd insert and put your cleats in. They remind me of the emerica reynolds 1

HALP!

Hey, I can't find my size (43) online for the Vegan Mambas! Is there any storefronts I can call?

I am sure there are others online options and I think they might even be sold in a shop in Richmond. If so, let go play polo in Richmond next weekend...

I bought my DZR Dice from this website. Seemed like a cool shop and shipping was pretty quick. They carry other DZR models also. Hope this helps
