I believe that East Van , Portland , Seattle , LA , SF, AZ Bikepolo , Davis , Sac and INSTANT Mix have been invited to this too.
From what I've heard the 2 courts are amazing.
PERFECT TIMING A month after NA's and a MONTH before the WORLDS
Nice one Tsunami

I'm in

brought to you by the good people at morningstar

No way I can get an Anchorage team together. Can I just mooch off another clubs success?

Jon - East Van has been invited...if they don't mind, neither do we! and we will (more than likely) have an insta-mix team too! get here.

Whaddya say East Van? I bought so much of your shit that people are starting to think I live there.

East Van Bench team, sponsored by "Anchorage Bike Polo"...

This info is in the loop. I'll keep you posted as the elders deliberate.

East Van...you guys gonna make it? let's get a Cascadia north team going....Anchorage?

Don`t count on it.

I'm in, though not sure the Cruz can pull together a 7 person team. Soooo, just sayin'

shotgun your bike!

4 people is a bench team. might be a little exhausting though.

Davis is in!

I think some SD folks would be interested, although i doubt it if we can yield more then 4/5 players.

I think some SD folks would be interested, although i doubt it if we can yield more then 4/5 players.

LA is 99% to field a team for this.

Hopefully these city based tournaments will lead to a national bench tourney with all the best cities in the country.

- Sincerely
Olsen Aviles

Yeah I think the
Instant Mix team is for the smaller clubs to send their finest couple of slayers and join forces for The Battle , the

Allstar is for the 5 regions outside of SW and Cascadia to mix and Match a squad and
the International team is for anyone visiting before the Worlds who is not from North America.
Tsunami will be confirming everything after BM4 in LA this weekend.
Yer all going down, by the way

"So this is how it ends"MACHINE

Prob Santa Cruz with San Diego and you got yourself a bench :)

Down.

shotgun your bike!

I'll check into getting a Mraz Brewing beer garden as soon as the location is set. I am assuming the Folsom California courts?

I'm so excited.

umm the sf team is strong

strong enough to lift the crack pipe back to their lips... where it belongs.

I'm in charge of housing, cuz everyone coming to this is staying at my house. I think I have room for at least 75-100 polo peps. No joke! I'm thinking camping out back I have huge backyard and awesome big fire pit. Ample indoor space as well. None of us live close to these court's. The train station is short beautiful ride through Curtis park. The train let's off a couple blocks from the courts

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

Oh you could fit at least 100 tents in that backyard! Ill bring my hammock!

Rubber side down

There is à Perfect spot for a hamock

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

your backyard has rats and your house has cats. eugh.

to set the record strait. this dude doesen't know what he's talking about. but the backyard he USED to live in DID have rats, as does everyone else's in sacramento. and Gromski the cat was the biggest asshole ive ever met, but i loved him anyway. im down to camp at your new place joe. see you in september you mother fucker. <3

Jake you would know you used live there too. You wouldnt belive gromski hes super chill now. I Miss Big bubba. I have another cat that males bubba look tiny.his name is Happypie. Hes bigger than the dog.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

HappyPie is a BO$$ :) what other cat do you know that has his own teepee?!

Bike polo, tent camping AND cats!!!!

shotgun your bike!

3 things i hate...

I know you hate cats and camping, Whats the third?

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

BEING HUMBLE.

I don't live there anymore, didnt you spend mots of your time at autumns house max? You goofy bastard. Dont worry max you can Sleep with the dogs. When you dont make the Seattle squad you sit on our bench. Love ya bro!

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

this is gonna be so much fun!

Why couldn't you get the guy from polomania to do the artwork again, he was sick!!!!!!!

To set the record straight again at POLOMANIA in Sac, sonofagun turned up the first day bitched the fact that all 12 teams got to play each other to be seeded for the double elim the next day(ie 11 games of polo each , Amazing deadog)
His team was seeded 2nd or 3rd but he decided not to show up the next day until the tournie was nearly done coz all the whining he'd done the day before had brought out the mother in some young lady who felt compelled to take him home and fluff his tear stained pillow.
Any input by this guy should be treated as the input of a drunk 7 year old at a staring competition should.(should be looked right thru and/or focused on at a distance point in the future that leaves the convecture in a blurry past)
See you there Maxx (if your city sends you)

"So this is how it ends"MACHINE

Doesn't matter if my city sends me, I'm coming anyways so I can fluff a pillow by punching it into your face repeatedly. p.s. your response had nothing to do about the poster, and I never said polomania was a bad tournament, I just failed to set an alarm for sunday. nothing I can do about it now.

Dick!

Misunderstood, but none the less you nailed it Jouche

No misunderstanding, I was one of the teammates stood up!

well now you not allowed in my hometown. you should try and be more of a douche on the internet though, your doing a lot for yourself there.

And if you do show up, ill forcefully make you stay at my grandmas house in broderick where you can cuddle with her and her 9 cats.

been there done that.
I <3 GILFs

That format was so much fun; the only tourney I've been to that was set up that way. Plus, lots of pizza from Joey's Mom, and I don't know where all that pulled pork came from but it was DEE-LISH!!!!!

I remember some dude walking through the parking lot of The Ruffhouse collecting cans...he watched the tourney for a little while, and later on I heard him on the phone; "They playin' POLO!!! ON BIKES!!! I ain't NEVA seen no shit like DAT be'fo!!!!!"

3than is a very raaaaare artist. He'd been booked out solid for months. He's the only artist whose artwork gets more expensive the more he draws... He's pretty big in the scene, really POMO and is clear that you don't "get it".

shotgun your bike!

how many teams allotted to each city? also, from what i understand, if players from "x" club don't get picked for that cities team, they should still very much attend because there can be mixed city team(s)? confirm/deny?

Yes, I don't see why you would not be picked pepper your awesome! But yes if you don't get on your cities main team then you are free to play on a mixed team.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

Also, I hope your down to make some of your yummy grill cheese sandies.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

You are killing us!
That week is interbike!
Going to be tough getting out there.

Fixinthestreets

IMPORTANT QUESTION! to all clubs attending-

what is your clubs bench team recruitment process? how does your city elect who is going to be on the team of 7-10 given the fact that there are dozens more who play, but in reality won't get picked to go. i am curious because LA bike polo is currently under an electing process to decide who goes, as well as who is captain. i just want to bounce back ideas that we possibly have not thought of. dig?

We are settling it using a classic and time tested methodology: potato sack race!

Who's captain? Lol, personally I say knife fights or, have sacramento elect a person from each city

I've been wondering how many teams. Does SF get one or two? We could field three if it's possible.

An idea I was thinking about...everyone in the club gets four votes: one for captain, two for players and one for fun. Captain and fun can both be players. The top seven names written down (any category) are on the team. Top votes for captain is captain. The captain freely chooses an 8th player.

I'm assuming SF is fielding two teams.

LA needs two teams as well.

- Sincerely
Olsen Aviles

Cue Oprah

"You get two teams! And you get two teams! And you and you get two teams! Everybody gets two teams!!!"

Can we have the final in the rough-house?

Yeah, everyone has to ride à fixed Wal-Mart moutian Bikes 52/13 gear and use a those old mallets with 7-8 inch head and those 3 pound bolts holding the head on.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

ABS AND CRUTCHES FOR SHAFTS. THE GOOD OL' DAYS.

Remeber How proud We were of those shitty mallet We used to make?

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

Fantastic that there is so much interest in this.
This could be a great opportunity for clubs to put a Bench Format night together and have playoffs to see who they send to The Battle For California 2.
As this is primarily a city based tournament this year and at least 8 teams have confirmed, with another 2 being formed behind the closed veil of international and allstar , we should leave it as one team per city and let there be a minimum of 9 players and unlimit the numbers of players allowed on the bench.

"So this is how it ends"MACHINE

Which 8 clubs are confirmed?

- Sincerely
Olsen Aviles

Yeah x2 on one team per city! Also I am a free agent! Holler

We got LA ,SF , Portland(?? almost sure) , Seattle , East Van , AZ , Sacramento ,( SC SD FRESNO DAVIS LAS VEGAS I hear are gonna bring it in one form or another.) Allstar (from what I hear is being GM'd by our very own Ben Schultz from Chicago) ,

No step up for international squad yet.

Looks like The Battle for California is gonna be a blood bath.

If your city is NOT gonna make it let us know(don't want the slack ass attitude like last year when, after all the amazing ground work Portland did to secure a venue for a promising fantastic tournie, none of the GM's from the cities got back to them in time so it had to be cancelled)

I know there is some wee bike show in Vegas that weekend but its on every year and lets face it what the polo is gonna be happening between the NA'S and The World's that's gonna keep your skillz up that aint THIS.

The fact that housing will be free for everyone is WOOOOOWOOOOO.....

PS Please choose a GM for your city as a contact point for Tsunami and TineTine and .....well contact them

Yes! Do it! You can use my house as a base camp. That way your stuff will be safe and you won't have to carry everything with you all the time, just carry the things you need.I'll have about 9-10 days off in Sept and I'll take you to san Francisco.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

Sacramento is excited to host your first stop!

Capitol Bike Polo

Are these dates firm?

Yeah, these are the dates.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

Any city, do you have rosters you can post? Need to get an idea of the main teams. When these are posted We will pick four captains and have à draft to fill four teams.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

East Van is waffling. We probably won't know if we can bring a full team until much closer to the date. People seem to be really focused on NAs and Worlds right now. Sorry guys.

...déjà vu

East Van had a team ready for Portland last year! It just wasn't very good. Trying to set an expectation early here to avoid the problems that sunk that tourney.
East Van also has the longest and most expensive journey to Sac of all the west coast clubs so I hope that our status isn't indicative.
I'd wager a few of us will make the trip even if we don't field a full team.

I hope you Guys make it to this. All your housing is free most meals too. Plus pete will rub your sore feet every night by the fire pit.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

$130 return from Seattle!! Ooh gawd. This canadian will be makin' it down to hang with you sunny Cali kids xxoo

the more, the merrier. plus sacramento in late september offers some beautiful weather!

hey Pete! Is Portland going to make it?

Four teams from a draft? This isn't at all what I thought was going to happen. I thought each city brings a team, with the club deciding on captain and players.

Now you're saying YOU are selecting captains, and only 4 teams. Huh?

Relax joel, this is for after all the teams are figured out.so if you are not on your cities main team you can go into this draft. But was thinking of you as one of the capitans.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

This word...relax... I am familiar with the concept but struggle with it on a personal level.

I've been thinking about how to get the SF club to collectively agree on captain and team (see above). What you say about 4 teams suggests a Bench Minor(tm) format which is altogether different.

Are you saying clubs should send a club team, and everyone else who wants to play goes in a draft? Sounds like the draft teams will just be warm up for the selected teams. Maybe that's OK.

I'm honored to be considered as a potential captain, thanks! Whether it happens or not depends. I might be old but I can still get goals, even in the new SF.

PS. Speaking of goals I have a design for goals and looking for an excuse to see prototype #2 built. V1 goals are doing well. Light enough to carry yet sturdy. Parts are reasonably priced and readily available. Hit me up if you're interested.

Yes send your club teams, lots of very good players may or may not be on the club teams. Just thinking this would make for better teams to compete with these super teams.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

These courts have goals in place, but I am very exited about your goals

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

I would like 2 participate in this tourney. I am still out of town. But someone in SF let me know if I'm selected on "The SF Team" or not. That way, I can plan accordingly...

Lefty Bullshit!

Let's clear things up...
The BATTLE for CALIFORNIA 2 is a CITY BASED BENCH FORMAT TOURNEY.
Each city can bring unlimited players.
We WILL NOT BE DOING ANY TYPE OF DRAFT.
ALL loose cannons will be placed on teams accordingly and every one will play polo.

Capitol Bike Polo

Sorry, just got exited talking to people about this. Just thought this would be à fun way to mix up the cities who cant fill à team.ive aparently been overruled on this idea.Im not trying to piss anyone off or step on toes.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

Vegas In for Nevada

Fixinthestreets

ya Vegas!

Yeah, we're reppin' a whole state! We should totally get our own team.

Do you even Polo, Bro?

What's the ref situation look like for this?

Yes! Dusty, We want to have refs for sure. Do you have any ideas for this? Im thinking Two refs and Two goal judges. Thats for each court

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

Two refs per court + goal judges would be awesome, as long as the refs stay consistent over the weekend. If there are going to be 2 main refs I suggest designating a "head ref" that has control of the whistle, and appointing the other ref to watch for penalties off the ball. Also all refs should be well versed in whatever rules yall plan to use. It's much easier to handle players complaints when you as a ref know exactly what you're calling and why.

yeah, for sure the second ref would really be a second set of eyes. i think the nah ruleset is fine. the head ref would have the final call. also timekeeper and scorekeeper for each court. with bench format scores could get high and it would be better to split up that job.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

Most likely flying in from Interbike. THis is going to be sweet. Just slaying.

Anyone who wants to stay til westside is more than welcome. My house is open. The two tourneys are 5 days apart. Free housing between the two tourneys I hope will help some folks out.

Deaddog- sacbikepolo

Can we get a google maps link to the courts. How big are they?

- Sincerely
Olsen Aviles

Here is a link to the courts-

https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=362+Natoma+Station+Dri...

The park has full facilities, power outlets, restrooms and businesses nearby.

Capitol Bike Polo

Nice courts. I took measurements on Google maps and it says one is 15-20 ft shorter than the other one. Is that right?

- Sincerely
Olsen Aviles

yeah Olsen - one court is a bit bigger, closer to the size LA plays on (I believe)

THE BATTLE FOR CALIFORNIA 2 is getting close. Riki Tokyo has booked his flight straight into Sacramento! San Francisco, LA, Fresno, Davis, Santa Cruz, San Diego, Las Vegas, Seattle and Ben Schultz with his Mid West All Stars have confirmed. Who else is in? You dont want to miss this one! When the dust settles, there will be a large caravan of people traveling from Sacramento to Seattle for WSI. This promises to be some competetive polo and good fun right between NA's and WORLDS. ROLL CALL.........

Capitol Bike Polo

Eff yes caravan!

Eff yes caravan!

Sorting out my plans for Interbike but I hope to just go straight from Vegas to SF, East Van might not have the numbers to be able to field a team so I'm down to join any other teams if thug city is not contending. If I can book the time off i'm down to join the caravan from SF to SEA for WSI.

oh gurl, I wanna road trip with you!

Also, cross season is upon us next month so I'm not sure I can make both days of this with taking off to Seattle the next weekend, but we'll see what my team let's me get away with.

There's good news! The Sacramento CX series starts this weekend, so it looks like I can race in the morning then come out and get my polo on. Holla. If anyone else is interested in racing, here are the deets:

Tsunami, is it cool if I stay with you guys and store a bike at your house?

Yep, Lets have a meat raffle on Brandons FACE!!!!!

Capitol Bike Polo

This sounds really fun. I haven't been to Sac since July 2011, and I haven't played in a tourney since November 2011. I think I'm ready for some more Temple Coffee & Nationwide Freezer Meats burgers.

Commit and you got two (Me and Jouche) to share gas and we can team up with SC.....

so is there an official # of teams confirmed yet? cant wait for this! Tsunami listed 9 cities - does that mean 9 teams or more than 9?

I play for hugs

more.

Capitol Bike Polo

that's what we're planning for. San Diego / Santa Cruz would be a good pairing! c'mon Dus - get here!

SD can finally conifms his presence.... Not sure if it will be 2 or 3 of us. Yes we need housing, free beer and nutritious substances.

If Portland and East Van are not sending teams maybe we should make a cascadian allstar team. What say you?

Capitol Bike Polo

so who exactly are the cities that are 100% sending a team?

I play for hugs

Sac, sd/sc, SFx2(?), Seattle, LA, lv, Fresno, Davis?

...i still have no idea on this but would like to know if anyone does

I play for hugs

Hokay Las Vegas is gettin cereal about coming to sac for your bench minor!!!

Super Amped, looking forward to playing polo in a new city

You make the rules, I'll play the game.

Davis is 3 players short! Any team of 3 want to come join us??

We've got two players who went to NAs this year, a lady who can shotgun a beer better than you can and the return of a player who had one of the weirdest/unluckiest polo injuries I've ever seen at the battle last year!! Also a good player who uses a bike that could literally fall apart at any second and a crack shot that makes mead/beer/wine/mustard so good that it can melt your face off!

Who can resist a lineup like that?

Can I bring my dog?

This is gonna be awesome. I just packed my snuggie jumpsuit.

O, DUS DUS DUS DUS

You make the rules, I'll play the game.

well that was a fecking ridiculously intents fun as f3ck no holds barred weekend of pure dead brilliant. Cant extrapolate right now.

Respect to all.
